Bro I play Human warrior and picked up the WW sword, the number of people I call meta slaves when they tell me I should've picked up the axe is insane
28
u/Cee_U_Next_Tuesday Mar 06 '25
The amount of randoms who will unsolicited come up to you, inspect your gear then whisper you that it’s trash and you shoulda done x, y and z instead.
Like bro I am still leveling you need to chill
2
u/MadDogMax Mar 07 '25
Not just while levelling, I had a complete stranger inspect my alt in a BWL pug on SoD while buffing up, and whisper me telling me to equip my Brood rep ring because I had a bunch of timeworn pieces which scale it. Not the raid leader, just some guy who joined the group and appointed himself Chief Gear Checker
My guy I am Hated by the Brood of Nozdormu, I am about 40,000 rep away from them giving me a ring, these items came from AQ20, why the fuck are you assuming I have better items in my bag and have just opted to not equip them? Look after your own shit.

I've had people in my guils min maxing, enchanting etc the shit out of their build. All that to die because they feel invincible meanwhile I'm having the time of my life on HC taking minimal risk. WoW today is a rush to most people, I really don't see the fun in this but to each their own tbh

u/Ok-Perspective5338 Mar 06 '25
What a fool. You’re missing .02 dps. Literally ruined your warrior might as well start over.

I actually took the sword on a human warrior I leveled last Classic and I'm not gonna lie it was actually the smoothest leveling experience I've had on a warrior, and that's saying a lot since I'm up to about 280 levels worth of Warrior between all versions of classic.
3
u/KilroyWasHer3 Mar 06 '25
It's real good fun, a guy from my guild also calculated and the difference is really not important. + if you play human the extra chance to hit is nice

Min-maxing aside, the real crime here is that the sword is hideous. You can’t even argue taking it on cool factor!

I remember doing the quest for the first time as a kid and i was like "Well they're all good, but i literally don't have a trinket yet so I'm gonna pick that one." and so I did.

I remember one of the warrior tanks from one of the biggest most "hardcore" guilds on my server straight up made a brand new lvl 1 warrior because he took the wrong reward by accident
He eventually did get to 60 again and got the diamond flask this time but holy hell what a reason to re level from the start all over again. He was decently geared at the time too

I unironically support this even though it’s bait. The player base in this game is so painful, and it’s so annoying how people care so much about a levelling weapon.
Anyway. Hell yeah bro. Swords look cooler than axes.

u/xStaabOnMyKnobx Mar 06 '25
Its silly, I agree, but this is not a levelling weapons this is the levelling weapon. WW Axe can take you well into the 50s and that's massive considering before 30 you're probably changing your weapon every level or every other level.
35
u/Haunting_Benefit4662 Mar 06 '25
If you use ww axe at your 50s 40s you are a dumbass
48
u/DathranEU Mar 06 '25
40s no way. 50s is questionable.

u/xStaabOnMyKnobx Mar 06 '25
I probably kept mine until 53, 54. Didn't have any better 2h drops and wasn't using dw at the time.

u/Wisniaksiadz Mar 06 '25
So, for warrior you can get
- bonebitter from quest for SM (alliance only)
- Executioner's Cleaver which you can get from AH and it will be pretty much bis up to 60
- rockpounder/stoneslayer from uldaman,
- there is nice 2h in BRD
and some more. The point of why WW is so strong is that you can get it at level 30, and at level 30 this weapon is bonkers (corpsemaker, the blue 2h axe for level 29 so in theory 1 level less, have 29 dps vs 35 of WW weapons)
→ More replies (1)10
u/Eradinn Mar 06 '25
WW axe isn’t even worth getting on alliance because of Bonebiter
→ More replies (1)7

9
u/rundown001 Mar 06 '25
nah 40s is fine, especially if youre broke from mount, 50s only in a fresh economy and with bad rng
(technially you get bonebiter in your 30s as alliance but lets be real, thats just ww axes hordephobic cousin)

Well there's little argument. The axe is better, but people forget one crucial detail - fun is BiS.
I recently did a sword spec warrior with this old thing and it was great, I've had the axe before and wanted something different.

People meme alot on the sword but I've found that tanking, the sword is better than the axe. The issue with the axe is its speed. Tanking SM level appropriate is a nightmare, its parry, parry, miss, dodge, glance. Its not pretty. The swords speed makes your rage gain the perfect speed aswell as sword spec + windfury can be a pretty combo for rage.
Overall sword just feels right even tho numbers show axe does the biggest damage but the axe speed is so terrible for tanking. Outside your charge - > sweeping strikes - > berserker rage - > whirlwind combo, you sorta just sit there for 3.6 SECONDS hoping that you dont get parried. The thing about threat is that, you dont need ALL of it, you just need to be over the second guy, regardless if your weapon was a 0.8 speed or a 8.0 speed, as a warrior that opener will give you the lead you need, now you just need to tap target and thats where the axe is just horrible imo.
That all being said.. Axe go zug zug

Never played a Classic - can somebody explain to me like im 5, why those weapons are so rare etc?
6
u/Kamikatzentatze Mar 06 '25
It's from the warrior class quest you get with 30. Most people choose the axe because of the max damage. When someone doesn't, people discuss. When you're an orc it's even worse since of the class +axe ability.
2
u/Elderberryinjanuary Mar 06 '25
Look, this is the third time doing this whole classic thing. 4th time?
Either way. This is not the time to try to be the best. Everything that needed to be proven has been proven. Being a meta slave now is just fucking dumb.
This person is doing it right. They're letting their freak flag fly high and proud. Good for them!

Plus swords are just cooler than axes.

Per Microsoft copilot:
Let’s compare the DPS potential of a Human Warrior using the Whirlwind Sword with Sword Specialization versus using the Whirlwind Axe with Axe Specialization:
Whirlwind Sword with Sword Specialization:
Sword Specialization: Provides a 5% chance to get an extra attack on hit1.
Human Racial Bonus: +5 weapon skill with swords, reducing glancing blows and increasing hit chance2.
Weapon Speed: Faster attack speed (2.9), leading to more frequent attacks3.
Whirlwind Axe with Axe Specialization: Axe Specialization: Provides a 5% increased critical strike chance1.
Weapon Speed: Slower attack speed (3.6), resulting in higher top-end damage3.
Burst Damage: Higher top-end damage benefits abilities like Mortal Strike and Whirlwind3.
DPS Comparison Sword Specialization: The extra attacks from Sword Specialization can increase sustained DPS, especially with the Human racial bonus reducing glancing blows2. This setup offers more consistent damage output.
Axe Specialization: The increased critical strike chance from Axe Specialization boosts burst damage potential, making it more effective for abilities that scale with weapon damage13. Conclusion Whirlwind Sword: Better for consistent DPS due to extra attacks and reduced glancing blows.
Whirlwind Axe: Better for burst damage due to higher critical strike chance and top-end damage.
The actual DPS difference may vary based on playstyle and specific encounters, but both setups are viable. The choice ultimately depends on whether you prefer consistent damage (sword) or burst potential (axe).

I unironically did this on my human for a niche Sword Specialization / 2h-weapon Specialization talent spec to take advantage of human racial. Total meme spec, but randomly deleting same level mobs w/ autos is fun.
