Content/Multimedia Best way to get a sticker off a car

Post image
2.2k Upvotes

This sticker has been on my car for several years. I honestly thought I'd end up scrapping the car eventually so put stickers (not stickers sold for a car, just normal stickers!) on the outside but it turns out there's some resale value so I'm giving it a good clean. What's the best way of removing the sticker without damaging the paint? The others have just peeled off but this is stuck fast! I'm in the UK so UK based recommendations would be great. Thank you!

Discussion Is this a normal amount of dust to accumulate in one small room in under 48 hours? I feel like I’m going crazy

Post image

I sweep and vacuum my entire house every 2 days. An insane amount of dust accumulates in that time. We have 2 cats, but they’re entirely indoors and we brush them pretty often. I run an air purifier 24 hours a day and regularly clean and replace the filters. We never wear shoes inside the house. The house is heated with baseboard hot water heaters, so there’s no vents for dust to gather in and get pushed up through. There is no HVAC system of any kind in the house so not great ventilation, but even then I feel like this is crazy for under 48 hours since I last cleaned the floor, in just one small room of the house. Or is this just normal? Part of it is also that the floors are laminate/engineered hardwood so there are no cracks or crevices for things to settle into, so it all sits on top. But I’ve never lived in a house that accumulated this much dust so quickly. Is there anything I can do, or just keep cleaning?

i wasn’t sure what flair to put so i hope that one’s ok.

so i got a PC for my birthday and i need to make a space in my room for it. but my room currently looks like this because i am disgusting and really mentally ill. i need to fix it and i want to fix it but every time i try and fix it i get overwhelmed and have panic attacks.

there’s cat pee basically everywhere and food trash and mold that i can smell but i have no clue where it’s coming from and i know it’s horrible and trust me i feel awful about it but this is years of unchecked depression and i don’t know how to fix it.

plus i live with my parents and they don’t know how bad it is and i really don’t want them to know so i’m so stressed about that too and i feel nauseous

any advice is super appreciated (also sorry for the freaking out am actively in a panic attack cuz i tried again)

(and the cats are okay, they have litterboxes and space outside of my room to hang out so they’re not always in this mess)

General Cleaning If you have pets and chronic dust and fur everywhere, I insist you buy a carpet and fabric squeegee right this moment

I have 2 cats and it’s steadily been getting harder for me to keep up with constant dust build up. I’m in an older 1 bed so I think this just makes it worse due to small space and prob dirty HVAC.

Today I finally found some motivation and I went to town and I filled up my vacuum 3 times with just the living and dining rooms. Still a hallway and bedroom to go. No wonder I’m always struggling to keep up. The hair is EVERYWHEREEEE. PSA.

Oh yeah, adding to this I am: brushing the cats and washing blankets. Also humble brag bc I’ve been struggling with chronic pain issues and sometimes daily cleaning is even hard for me so feeling proud of this accomplishment (:

Discussion Best cleaner & method to get smoke and grease off of walls? BONUS- how to clean these disturbing bathtubs

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Hey all,

We recently had some tenants abandon our home, when we walked through there is not one wall that isn’t covered in cigarette smoke, beer, grease, dirt and 10,000 other sticky substances. I’m assuming using a mop will be the easiest way to clean our walls, but what cleaner should I use? We’re obviously repainting everything but need cleaning suggestions for this huge project we’re tackling!

Also- how do we tackle these bathtubs? Our friend said there are resurfacing companies that can use industrial strength cleaners to strip the tubs (2 inserts, I’m assuming acrylic?) But my MIL is convinced with elbow grease and the right products we could get it out.

Haven’t tried cleaning yet since we’re still documenting everything for legal reasons.

Discussion How often are we cleaning the inside of our windows?

My currently heavily pregnant and have the ‘nesting bug’ I can’t stop cleaning and when I’m not cleaning I’m thinking about it or watching videos on cleaning.

BUT I’m heavily pregnant & struggling with fatigue massively.

The one thing I’m just no good at is cleaning windows (inside) because I can’t get them streak free no matter what I do, so normally I end up making them look worse by cleaning them. So I guess I’m just asking how important is it? How often do you clean windows ? Any tips?

Also I’ve seen these window vacs but they seem expensive and we are very low on storage but if you have one are they worth it?

Discussion How do you motivate yourself to clean?

Post image
79 Upvotes

I have depression and ADHD and sometimes cleaning feels like an unreachable task. There are a couple things I do. I love making these little charts. I can break down rooms into small tasks. When I’m really struggling I set a five minute timer and commit to cleaning that whole time and if I build momentum I keep going, but I still met my goal of five minutes. I also visualize myself doing all the steps I need to do to clean a space.

Does anyone have any tips that get you motivated to clean?

I inherited these statues from a passed relative last month, She painted them with thick brown house paint, most of which I removed with a Jet washer. Thoughts on how to remove the rest? I'm thinking turps and a wire brush, but I don't want to ruin them

suggestions and product suggestions appreciated (I'm in the UK)

Hi clean people ! I recently saw one of these and am curious about getting one . There seem to be rubber , silicone , or metal . Does anyone have any recommendations or tips when using them ? Any issues with pulling up/snagging the carpet ? Do they work on different types/textures of carpets and area rugs ?

Please let me know your thoughts/ experiences with them ! TIA!

Discussion Best carpet cleaning machine for pet stains?

Upvotes

I used to have a Hoover SmartWash Pet Complete as a carpet cleaner for pet stains. I bought it back in 2023 and it recently broke. Should I get the same one or is there something better out there?

Even though we have a gate blocking off the carpeted area of the stairs and loft of our home, our one senior dog keeps finding a way to pee on the carpet and the smell is horrendous. I’m pregnant too, so I’m especially sensitive to smells. I want a machine that can clean the entire carpeted area- I have a handheld for smaller areas but I need a big duty guy for this. Thanks!

General Cleaning Best ways to eliminate litter dust from collecting on everything?

Upvotes

I’ve tried low dust and even switched to tofu litter which used to be better but lately is super dusty. Litter dust collects on everything near the litter box even with a lid on it. How do you get rid of it? I hate the thought of poo dust getting all over the furniture when I don’t have a laundry room or similar room to put it in where it wouldn’t matter

Discussion Bad smell In kitchen

Upvotes

So I moved into this rental last month and everything has been fine but the last two days I've had this weird rotten food smell in my kitchen And it's by my side door and my garbage can and pantry. I completely cleaned out my pantry, wiped everything down, I washed out my trashcan, bleached it and completely mopped the floors and the smell is still there.... There's a vent by my door and I don't smell anything coming from it when the heat is on. I go into my basement and I don't smell anything. I am so confused and so defeated because I have no idea where it's coming from and it's only in my kitchen.

Discussion Moved into rental home and it gets very dusty due to the flooring. Will it settle?

Post image

Whenever we close up everything and leave the house, the floor releases a lot of dusty which results in the air being very dusty when we get back home. This settles when we ventilate the house. Will this settle with time or should we bring it up with the landlord?

Thank you
