I’ve been Googling but Google doesn’t quite understand my question. Sooo… my husband is a butcher and he uses a saw all day. Goat, lamb and beef. He can get his hands in BAGS of bone sawdust/meal/powder. He asked if I want it for my compost. Smart! But then I say… oohh, wait, maggots, critters, etc. Then I think what about sprinkling in my tomato soil or direct on garden? Then I think ooohhh, cats, critters, etc.
So! What if I lay it on a cookie sheet and slowly baked it, dehydrating it!?
Is any of this a good idea? It does have tiny pieces of fat and bone on it but it’s like a fine dust. I want to use it!! I am an inner city dweller. Lots of stray cats, rats, mice, raccoons, skunks, possums, etc.
What to do? Use it or leave it the hell alone? I also have compost bins. Appreciate the expert advice and opinions!
