r/Jetta Community Rules and Guidelines
Hey everyone,
We've had an influx recently of multiple r/Jetta members who aren't paying attention to the rules we've got here and are causing arguments, fighting, insulting, name calling, and other nuisances that nobody here wants to see, read, or deal with. This is a community to show off our love for Jetta's, and to assist others and help them with their questions, or to just show off and talk about our cars, suggest recommendations for mods, tweaks, parts, and anything else that has to do with Jetta's. It is not the community for anything that cannot be civil.
I didn't want to make a reminder post like this, but it needs to be said.
Please report any comments/posts that break rules so that they can be handled by the mod team.
Please read and follow the rules and help make this community more fun and not like all the other nuisance subs that allow bickering and childish, immature behavior.
Thanks!
r/Jetta Community Rules

Absolutely no harassment, bigotry, spamming, trolling or otherwise hateful posts or comments will be tolerated. This is an addition to Rule 1, and will be enforced.
3 - No Distracted Driving Pictures/Videos
We support a safe community. Posting pictures or videos of you or someone else failing to follow safety rules while operating a vehicle is not allowed. These posts will be removed.
4 - No B/S/T
This is not the place to buy, sell, trade, or otherwise advertise for the transfer items from one individual to another. If you want to do so, do so via PM.

Mk7 (2019+) First Jetta
Just bought my first VW!
I went in planning to buy the 2025 Jetta S. However, I ended up with a 2025 Jetta Sport in Monterey Blue Pearl. Even though it doesn’t come with a ton of extra features, the XDS, seats, and wheels sold me on it.
This is my first Jetta and VW, so I’d love any tips or things to know from current owners.
Also, here are the out-the-door prices in case it helps anyone else shopping right now. I know how wild the market is and value transparency:
- 2025 Jetta S: $22,800 USD
- 2025 Jetta Sport: $24,900 USD

Rumors & Discussion window help
hey all. i just got a 2017 jetta. i absolutely love it but i am having an issue with the windows. they all have almost a film of filth or something on them. i have tried chemical guys streak free window cleaner, spray way glass cleaner, and i’ve even tried rubbing alcohol but nothing is working. i use a fresh paper towel each time. ive attached a photo that somewhat shows what my windows are like on a regular basis. it’s mainly my windshield and back window but somewhat on the side windows as well. the previous owner was a smoker so i think that has something to do with it but no matter what i do this film is there and i do not smoke in my car. its streaky and when i wipe some parts it comes off like yellow brown on the paper towel. what can i do to fix this?

Mk7 (2019+) Braking Issue???
I have a 2020 Jetta and for some reason when I press on the brake pedal the rpm’s start to rev when slowing to lower speeds. Like if I’m driving down the street going 45 as I’m braking when it gets to 20mph the rpm’s rev a bit bet 1 and 2 and the car jumps. Has anyone had this problem before and been able to fix it???

Mk6 (2011-2018) How did this happen?
Just picked up my car from the body shop after I got hit in my front right fender. By the time I got home I heard a rattling noise as if I was transporting pots and pans. Took a look under the car and found the source. How does this even happen? (First pic for reference)

Mk6 (2011-2018) Brake caliper bracket question - 2012 S 2.0 A/T
Need to replace bracket but confused as to why I find two brackets with very different prices. Obviously prefer safety over value but what is the difference between the two brackets in attached pictures?

Mk7 (2019+) Ambient Lighting Part Number Inquiry
Hello All! In an attempt to finalize my ambient lighting retrofit I would like to ask the community for help in finding a part number.
In higher trim level MK7 Jettas with factory ambient lighting, there is a light and diffuser shining inside the cubby. Could someone please remove this light (should twist out once you remove the HVAC module)
I am happy to provide detailed instructions so that nothing breaks. Please see attached photo for reference.

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2015 Jetta Oil Burning
I've had gasket covers replaced, pcv valve (cleaned or replaced can't think of it), and I believe Oil separator as well. I'm not much of a mechanic, but why is it still burning oil and causing the EPC light to come on yellow? It hesitates to accelerate occasionally and burns maybe a QT every 400-600 miles at least.

Mk4 (1999-2005) Need some advice on this MK4 Jetta
So l'm going to go check out this Jetta VR6 tomorrow. I know the main thing to look out for is the timing chain as I did some research. I also know that I should ask if it was replaced. My question is, If it wasn't replaced but the timing chain is perfectly fine and it's not leaking oil or making a weird noise do I go through with the purchase? I know these are extremely difficult to replace. Some info - (Year :2000 Mileage:149,000. Asking :$2500 OBO) (I know there's rust on the fender but it doesn't seem too bad and I can manage to fix that as I have auto body work experience, as long as the rockers and floors aren't completely shot I'll still consider purchasing it.

Mk7 (2019+) Bought my first jetta
Bought this 2021 Jetta 2 weeks ago. 50k miles, clean car fax from a Toyota dealership. 13k total financed.
Seeing everything going on with tariffs, did I get a good deal? Everywhere I see makes me think so but it's my first time buying a Volkswagen so I wanted to see what enthusiasts might say.
I've always wanted a Volkswagen tbh

Mk7 (2019+) Damaged passenger side mirror
I hit a column as I was pulling out of a parking space and it damaged my passenger side mirror. The case (Grey thing) that protects the outside of the mirror is completely intact.
How can I fix this? How much should I expect to pay? Could I fix it myself as someone with no car knowledge or experience?
The car is a VW Jetta.

Mk7 (2019+) Where is this from?
I just finished doing an oil change on my 2021 Jetta R-Line and found this lying on the ground when I backed up from the ramps. 😬 Where did I bump this off of? I tried Google image search but it was way too vague to do an actual constructive search. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Mk7 (2019+) Fuel Effeciency - 2025 SEL
galleryTook a trip to my mom's, 41 miles there, and averaged 47 mpg. The route is half interstate, half stop and go. My overall mpg is at 33. I'm finding the adaptive cruise control normally generates the best fuel efficiency, and that drive thrus with long waits, coupled with short drives, tanks the efficiency.

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2012 Jetta ABS QUESTIONS
Need some opinions on how to go about this ABS control module staying on after clearing codes. Not familiar with VWs so any input is appreciated. I’ve looked at the manual and searched on YouTube nothing much.

Mk7 (2019+) Random windshield wiper
Has anyone experienced random wipers when they are turned off? 2023 sport, doesn't have rain sensing wipers. I can be driving on a dry sunny day and they come on on their own, wipe 2 or 3 times, then doesn't happen for a while
Mk7 (2019+) What are your thoughts on this rust? There is no other rust on the car except for this.
