30M living in Japan (update)
How’s it looking? I think everything is coming together with the exception of the tatami room.. I really don’t know how to decorate that damn room.

Took almost one year from design and order to delivery and install. If I’d try to do it myself it would have been a mess.

I really appreciate all of your criticisms and advice; it really helps me out since I'm new to interior decorating.
The front speakers and stands are going to stay, unfortunately. They are positioned for critical listening, and subwoofers will soon fill the spaces behind them. I'm kind of an audio nerd.
Now for the TV stand... It's really growing on me. I want to make it clear that I do have money for a lehit stand. I just thought I'd try something bold and unique. However, I'm thinking about wall mounting the TV just a tad lower than it sits now, and getting a different rustic/industrial looking stand. I'll just set the reciever and center channel on top of that stand.
Thanks again, you all rock. 🤘

I've been moving a lot in the last decade and even though it's been 2 years living here as a tenant in a context of housing crisis in Montréal, I struggle to really commit to make a place home. Anyway, this might not be looking sexy, but for the first time in a long while, I kinda feel home right there.

a few things:
looking at getting a second smaller TV to put on top of my dresser in my bedroom
want to get a “manlier” comforter, thinking about a solid color with some texture maybe a navy or dark olive green
thinking about getting either a larger/deeper couch or L shape sectional that would extend out in the open area near my desk
appreciate all recommendations!!

Do you want to see how things change and what the other side of the room looks like?

This headboard was attached to the wall when I arrived but my furniture is all teak wood. Would like to have warmth (but not darken) and wouldn’t mind something unusual. The rugs are changeable so not worried about clashing there. Thanks boys

On my to do list is finish painting, curtains, replace the overhead light in the middle of the ceiling (not my swag lamp. The swag lamp stays), and get a plant 🪴 38 yo dude

23M, first time living alone and want to make the apartment more lively before calling my friends and or potential girlfriend. What can I improve?
r/malelivingspace • u/Altruistic_Eye4346 • 9h ago
So I took y’all’s advice and did a little shopping, how did I do? I know I still need to change the end tables and add more plants but it’s a work in progress. Or should I just burn the house down, get the insurance check, and start over fresh?

First apartment and went to the furniture store for a couch. Found some really good deals on several couches that are 87inches long. A couple smaller ones that i also like were 82 inches long, the smaller ones could fit 2 people and the longer ones 3. I dont plan on having many people over constantly so im not worried about that. Im more concern on how small my living room is, and how crowded it would feel with the couch that is normal size. It is 115in by 167in.

Getting rid of the guest bed to make space and turn the room into an office, but want a just in case option for guests. We like the look of the Togo couches, of which there are plenty of dupes, but anyone have any feedback or sources for one that also converts into a sleeper? So far I've found this one from UO and also this one from PB Teen. Or should we just go for the Togo dupe itself and just get an air mattress?

Hiya, I’m 14 and we’ve just had a house extension finished, so I finally get my own room. It’s basically the same as when we first bought the house 7 years ago and was left unfinished until now. I don’t know the exact measurements yet, but I can give some idea of size—for example, the part of the room that sticks out on the right of the floor plan is just about big enough to fit a double bed if needed.
I’m looking for help designing the room (layout, colour ideas, furniture etc) and I can send more pictures if needed. I can also give the full layout or take measurements if that helps.
About me / my interests:
14-year-old boy
Into airsoft (I go to Battle Station Boston and have my own gear)
I’m in the Air Cadets and doing my Bronze DofE soon
I’m planning to join the RAF Regiment or become an officer in the military when I’m older
I play Xbox (got Game Pass Ultimate), used to be good at Rainbow Six Siege, into shooters mostly
I like tactical / military stuff, outdoors survival gear, and also basketball (don’t have a hoop though, just a ball)
I like white crew socks and boxers from brands like Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, FCUK etc (if you’re thinking wardrobe space/style)
I’ve got ADHD and hypermobility so would be nice if the layout is practical, calm, not too cluttered
I’m skinny and working on fitness for military goals (no gym equipment though)
Basically just want the room to feel cool, mature, and like it suits me. Budget-wise we’re not loaded but can slowly get stuff over time. Appreciate anyone who can help out for free or just throw ideas at me.
Thanks!

Feel like I made a ton of progress here. Room looks a lot more cozy and inviting to me.
Unfortunately, the cats started tearing up the corner of the headboard already. But what can you do? At least it wasn’t pricey.
Also, for all those concerned- gun on the wall is for display purposes only. It doesn’t have a BCG installed (it’s totally inoperable even if “loaded”).
