i have a question do u need to pay the $20 subscription community fee to communicate with people online or find lobbies along with the $80 to get mario kart?
like whats the community fee for its seems like discord but nintendo
Then wth are they charging for? If its a subscription it goes towards the server but if its peer to peer we are paying to maintain the server and access to our own server
Mario Karts 8 can be a terrible experience. Apparently it's better on WiFi but I lost my USB to ethernet adapter and haven't gotten a new one yet. Didn't realise there was a version of the switch without an ethernet port 😫
Granted it shouldn't matter, GTA 5 and any other online game works fine, it's just mario kart
He was saying 20 dollars a year for playing online + playing almost all the retro games for multiple platforms was too much because retro games price were too high but in fact you don't have to pay more for playing those games but just the base price, they could have just decided to make you pay only for the online service and not adding those retro consoles. I know it's not free but it's the cheapest out there and gives so many things compared to other consoles, maybe Xbox gives more things but it does cost more. Also I'm not a Nintendo shill or whatever it's called, I'm not trying to defend any multi-million dollar company, it's just facts. I play mostly on pc and probably I won't even buy a switch 2
You would need to do the same for PS or xBox games. Elden Ring has online function which only works if you have Ps Plus on the playstation as an example. (PC is just better if you wanna play online)
It’s even funnier than that, because Nintendo has no online sever dedicated to playing and uses peer-to-peer connection, meaning they make you pay for your own internet.
Slight clarification on this. Xbox First Party games are available with a subscription on Xbox, not every game that is on Xbox. The Elden Ring example above is true on both Xbox and PS.
Also Not every Xbox first party game is available on Xbox’s cheapest subscription.
you DONT need to pay for the game.. DONT BUY.. low demand = low prices.. hopefully but i know some idiots will be at the door waiting.. just HOLD OUT for couple of weeks
oh never played ps5 games online cause i have a pc i just play last of us and god of war ect on it. i never knew u needed a subscription for online games to function properly that seems odd but i guess its like $20 for the entire year is pretty cheap but it lowkey feels like it should be free
On Xbox you do not need a subscription to use voice chat or cloud saves. It’s just for playing multiplayer games, but the other basic online functions are free.
You know, back in my day, you didn't need a subscription to play online, you just did it. That's one of the reasons I bought a Steam Deck, I was like "ok this suddenly doesn't seem so costly if I don't pay for subscriptions for x years".
