And it's in her garage where the door stays open all day.

Does she have it for the privacy or just for the fire protection?

This is what I am thinking. It could be for fire protection and the code is written there so she could call someone and they could still get whatever is in that safe out of the house in an emergency.

"Hey, I'm so glad you're there after the fire while we were out. I really need some documents out of the fire-proof safe. Could you retrieve them for me, since you're nearby? The code is written on paper right by the safe, so you should be able to get in."

Except the code is written on paper...

307

u/Cash_Money_Jo 1d ago

Just put the paper in the safe, that way it doesn’t get burned 😁

41

u/hojowarm 1d ago

Dang, your comment wasn't here when I posted😩

2

u/Cash_Money_Jo 14h ago

Great minds think alike 🤷‍♂️

37

u/hojowarm 1d ago

She needs to put paper with the code in the safe. Easy peasy.

-33

u/Positive_Abalone 1d ago

How does anyone get to the code when it's in the locked fireproof box?

39

u/Gram-GramAndShabadoo 1d ago

You need a bigger safe to put the safe into with a code on the outside and then a code on the outside of the original safe.

8

u/hojowarm 1d ago

This is the way

17

u/han_tex 1d ago

To shreds, you say?

6

u/MsArchetype 1d ago

Well, how's his wife holding up?

5

u/Highshyguy710 1d ago

To shreds, you say?

2

u/hojowarm 1d ago

Two shreds, ewe say?

2

u/hardboard 1d ago

Arthur Two Shreds Jackson.

2

u/TruePikachu 22h ago

He only has one shreds though.

4

u/joshg8 16h ago

p sure that's the joke han_tex was making here...

2

u/scratchy_mcballsy 1d ago

I’m pretty sure I have the same safe. It opens by key and not a code. So the code might be for something else locked inside.

2

u/Ambitious-Repair-764 18h ago

fire proof paper, that the documents should have been on in the first place martha

2

u/hahawin 1d ago

And the safe looks like it needs a key, not a code

0

u/worldworn 1d ago

Probably fire proof paper.

6

u/Lucy_Little_Spoon 1d ago

Yeah but that doesn't make sense either, they could just grab the safe and leave with it, why give the code?

1

u/CookieMons7er 1d ago

Because that thing looks heavy

3

u/Lucy_Little_Spoon 1d ago

Sure, but if you're saving something from fire, you're gonna waste a bunch of time opening a safe

3

u/Psychological-Dig-29 21h ago edited 21h ago

Heavy for what..? A 2 year old?

I found that safe online, it's 33lbs. It's only designed for fire/water protection as it's self described as easy to transport.

4

u/CookieMons7er 20h ago

Look at Mr. fancy muscles over here

0

u/SanDiegoMeat666 11h ago

You can't lift 33 pounds? If you're presented with a metal spoon, Do you have your parents spoon feed you?

2

u/CookieMons7er 11h ago

I'm not a frail old lady with osteoporosis who's just woke up in the middle of the night with the fire alarm screaming and can't see where she's going because of the smoke and unbearable heat.

But answering your question, yes, my parents feed me because I'm not mentally or physically strong enough to lift a spoon.

Your mom jerks me off though.

2

u/grptrt 21h ago

The code is written there so instead of someone stealing the whole thing, they can open it and realize there are only documents and no valuables in it.

1

u/bus_factor 17h ago

and they could still get whatever is in that safe out of the house in an emergency.

just.... grab the safe?

1

u/AppleOrigin 16h ago

Here’s how I see it, ever so slightly different since being written in paper would mean it gets burned.

Safe for protection from fire, and paper with code so she doesn’t forget and remembers up to the point of possible fire, OR, so one of her know the code if there’s something she wants passed down, the latter is unlikely but possible.

7

u/bus_factor 17h ago

they really should stop putting locks on fire protection safes to avoid confusing people into thinking they're security safes. a fire safe only needs a latch, not a lock.

6

u/6502zx81 19h ago

She will be screwed after the fire destroys the note.

6

u/mariatoyou 19h ago

I assume it’s taped right there for day to day convenience. They probably have it somewhere else too. If a catastrophic fire actually burned down the garage I’d force it open if I had to.

1

u/malitove 11h ago

My parents have one for fire protection with the combo on it.

603

u/westcal98 1d ago

I've got the same combination on my luggage!

92

u/Satans_Ball_Sweat 1d ago

Amazing! So do I!

24

u/UltraCoolPimpDaddy 1d ago

Was hoping I'd see this here! 🤣

10

u/BidenPardonedMe 1d ago

Moichandising!

4

u/Dramatic_Raisin 22h ago

Hahahaha came here to say this post needs to be on the spaceballs sub!

Maybe she just got it for fire protection?  Like I keep my passport in mine. And plan on putting other stuff that might be too expensive to replace. I don't expect anyone to want to steal my birth certificate and such, but I don't want to go through the hassle of getting a replacement birth certificate from a hospital in West Germany that might not even exist anymore post-reunification.

133

u/Sniflix BLUE 1d ago

I think that's what the safe is for but she could have at least put the code on the back or the bottom.

42

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 1d ago

Come to think of it - does that thing even use a code?

19

u/Wankeritis 1d ago

Yeah. The code is on the top. We’ve got the same one at work

1

u/Recent_Weather2228 10h ago

That would be some next-level gaslighting. I should go put a code on my key safe.

2

u/Zacharias_Wolfe 15h ago

I've got a similar safe purely for fire protection. It's got a key not a code though, so I literally just leave the key in the lock so if I need to open it quick I can or if the house burns down I don't have to find the key in a separate pile of ashes.

11

u/FinasCupil 1d ago

Fire might burn that code.

4

u/bryondouglas 1d ago

I do the same, plus its an easy way to keep important docs together if we need to quickly get outta the house

2

u/THCMann 1d ago

Is the safe cooled in any way? Cause otherwise its only flame proof and not really fire proof you would just put your passport in a soon to be 800° oven lmao

76

u/PSlasher 1d ago

Apart from this being a clear joke, it’s good she has it written down. That’s an easily forgettable combination.

11

u/Sniflix BLUE 1d ago

I live outside the US but staying with my family while I get several spine surgeries. I am pretty gimped up from my first surgery 2 weeks ago and am in no mood to set up anything. Her place has lots of issues besides this but I'm keeping my mouth shut because I have several more months here.

29

u/pase1951 1d ago

That's the honeypot safe. It's rigged to explode if you open it. The real safe is elsewhere.

6

u/Sniflix BLUE 1d ago

Well then I'll have to open it!

12

u/pase1951 1d ago

Don't make me have Reddit send you the message...

5

u/Sniflix BLUE 1d ago

I'm not depressed, I swear!

14

u/18k_gold 1d ago

I have the same one, I keep my passport in there. Some other important papers in it and some money but I keep it in my closet.

4

u/GrapeApeAffe 1d ago

Does it even use a code? Looks like just a key is needed.

5

u/Able_Future_3580 1d ago

Mine only has a key. It was advertised as a fire box but I've used it as a cash box before when I was selling things at outdoor markets.

21

u/Icy-Performance8302 1d ago

Now she has to change the code to 54321. Thanks asshole.

14

u/EpicSteak RED 1d ago

It’s a fire proof storage box so it’s fine.

1

u/K12onReddit 21h ago

Any safe that's light enough to just steal and hit with a sledgehammer might as well not be locked anyway. You don't keep the crown jewels in here.

7

u/homer_lives 1d ago

I don't see a combination. Every fire safe I have seen uses a Key. This one has a key too.

4

u/GodelTheo 1d ago

5

u/HowlingWolven 1d ago

That’s the atupidest combination I ever heard in my life! That’s the kinda thing an idiot would have on his luggage!

9

u/BanditGrayves 1d ago

There is a keyhole on that safe. I am confused. Is there a second safe that requires a code?

1

u/Sniflix BLUE 1d ago

When it's light out tomorrow I'll take a look and let you know

5

u/WrongdoerSensitive20 1d ago

lol can she not remember that

6

u/Sniflix BLUE 1d ago

Fortunately her Wi-Fi password isn't password...

6

u/Germisstuck 1d ago

it's fuckingpassword, isn't it?

3

u/Sniflix BLUE 1d ago

Should I change it?

4

u/Mephipster 1d ago

What if when the wrong combination is entered, the box explodes. She knows the real code, but any evil doer that doesn't is going to enter 12345 and boom problem solved.

4

u/Content-Taste8853 1d ago

She's living that >1940's life.

4

u/bus_factor 1d ago

that's the kind of combination an idiot would have on his luggage!

3

u/nothing-I-can-say 1d ago

Is she?

Are any of us?

1

u/Sniflix BLUE 1d ago

Not anymore... /

3

u/DBFargie 1d ago

I have a safe, you can literally just open it. But it is fire and storm proof and holds all my irreplaceable docs. So yea.

3

u/AdrenochromeFolklore 12h ago

Maybe that's to throw them off.

3

u/SanDiegoMeat666 11h ago

Whats her address? Just wondering

2

u/WazzOGv 1d ago

Seems super safe

2

u/NikaRoseVP 1d ago

Rule number 1 never show strangers peoples safe and the code.

3

u/Sniflix BLUE 1d ago

Safe Club?

2

u/Subject-Bluebird7366 1d ago

Horror game -ass code

2

u/Typhoon-ZR 1d ago

(un)safe

2

u/Worried-Caregiver325 1d ago

She's supposed to have a very complicated puzzle to get the code

2

u/LazaroFilm 22h ago

Ok. That’s actually a great idea. Put that here. Don’t put things in it. But wire it so that if you type that code it triggers the alarm.

2

u/JK_NC 22h ago

She put the code on a note and put it on the safe???

She needed a note to remember 12345???

2

u/SanDiegoMeat666 11h ago

For a safe that doesn't have an option to put a code into. Its. A. Key. Lock.

2

u/JustVisiting888 21h ago

Obviously having the password on the safe presents a major security issue, but I'm more concerned that she couldn't remember 1,2,3,4,5.

2

u/DakotaXIV 20h ago

They really had to write that code down?

2

u/MaybeNotAZombie 20h ago

That's amazing! I have the same combination on my luggage!

2

u/CrazyFoque 20h ago

Just like my luggage !

2

u/shawslate 18h ago

This seems like more of a fire resistance thing, especially as you could just walk off with it.

2

u/ahmetasm 15h ago

How does she forget that password so she needs this paper to remember 😭😭😭

2

u/KnowItNone22 15h ago

I mean… she can’t just remember that one?

2

u/No-Positive-3984 13h ago

It's nothing to be infuriated about anyway.

2

u/GuardianHa 12h ago

It’s a trick!! The other number is 7 instead of 6!!!

2

u/J1M1D4NS 11h ago

Your sister is a legend!

2

u/IWillWarmUrPillow 4h ago

It's not a safe, it's a dangerous

2

u/RandomSvizec 1d ago

That ain't a safe bro, it's a dangerous.

1

u/HowlingWolven 1d ago

If that’s a fire safe, then this isn’t a problem,

1

u/timeloopdormammu 1d ago

To be fair... who would steal it when the code is right there? I think most people would assume the contents aren't worth anything because of it.

1

u/paulxombie1331 1d ago

That's amazing that's the same combination I have on my luggage!

1

u/Thruthful 1d ago

She had to write down that?😭

1

u/Professional-Day7850 1d ago

You get zapped if you enter that code.

1

u/HealerOnly 1d ago

Where is this garage?

Asking for a friend.

1

u/Any_Investigator5468 1d ago

Where else is she supposed to keep her journals full of oddly expository information?

1

u/Chubby_Behemoth_IX 1d ago

I'm glad she's okay.

1

u/itstommygun 1d ago

I would never own that safe expecting it to be protected from curious, or thieving, eyes.

I would however own it for the fire protection.

I assume your sister also only cares about fire protection.

1

u/Yoast74 1d ago

What has your sisters safe got to do with her being safe?

1

u/Godess_Ilias 1d ago

we found President scroobs Luggage

1

u/Wisekittn 1d ago

Should add a second Note saying: 'dear thief, please take this note and the one with the code on it, too, so insurance won't sear my butt for being a dingus'

1

u/Pand080 23h ago

As long as its safe!

1

u/THATMAYH3MGUY 23h ago

The lock on these is hilariously easy to pick. 10 seconds or less

1

u/eownified 23h ago

Locks aren’t meant to stop lock pickers. Just opportunists.

This lock stops neither lol

1

u/NolanSyKinsley 22h ago

PSA, this safe isn't a safe to prevent theft, these are fire protection safes to store important documents. The locks are crap and you can cut it open with a circular saw and cheap blade. The case is not metal, it is plastic and filled with a plaster like substance to stop the heat from destroying the documents, they are in no way designed to prevent theft. They should be kept in a secure area.

1

u/peroxidase2 22h ago

Very safe.

1

u/Fumpledinkbenderman 17h ago

The worst part is that this is literally the easiest code to remember

u/StruggleBussingAdult 36m ago

I have a Fure/Flood protection safe that I keep the keys in. It's for protection against fire rather than theft.

If someone were to want to take it, they'd have to a) break into my house and b) find it in the clutter of my house.

If they find it at that point, they've found higher value items and frankly earned it at that point.

1

u/PonyPickle8 1d ago

Probably a decoy. (Note inside saying how stupid do you think I am .. but your curiosity has put you in a peculiar predicament as you have now been exposed to a powerful Neurotoxin that will only allow you to live roughly long enough to read this note... You will never snoop through my stuff again! Loser...)

Just a guess.. my experience growing up may have been a little different to others.
