The Toyota cyber truck got a laugh out of me. No one is going to believe that is a Toyota

u/Red-eleven 23d ago

It clearly says Toyota on the bumper.

I really want to see an Elon heil windshield wiper attachment now…

It took me almost ten minutes to reply to your comment, veering wheel set me off laughing so hard my dogs started barking thinking we were under attack. All I could think of was swimming cleat and football bats. Thank you.

If not Toyota why Toyota logo

19

u/BigPawPaPump 23d ago

This would have been a perfect time to slap “The Homer” on that bad boy.

3

u/withoutapaddle 23d ago

Someone needs to brand their Cybertruck as Canyonero.

20

u/True_Significance504 23d ago

He’s got a point

11

u/Morguard 23d ago

Bumper? I barely know her!

2

u/Outside_Performer_66 23d ago

It clearly says Toyota on the bumper and it is not on fire.

2

u/elmariachio 23d ago

Not even 70's Toyota trucks were that boxy.

Then again the other way you can tell it's not a Toyota from the 70's is that it's not fully rusted out.

1

u/escientia 23d ago

The bumper is made by Toyota but everything is Tesla lol.

1

u/Tauren-Jerky 23d ago

Where’s the bumper

1

u/manhalfalien 23d ago

Boom 💥

1

u/Sikkus 22d ago

Maybe if they call it Toyota enough times it will start working better.

15

u/EvilSporkOfDeath 23d ago

I assume that one is ai or photoshop.

5

u/Necro_Badger 23d ago

It's been photoshopped. You can see the blurring around the lettering where it's been pasted

327

u/Handleton 23d ago

Honestly, the message is there, though. There's no telling what's going on with the person driving the car, but they are afraid and/or are trying to demonstrate that they aren't proud of their purchase.

There's plenty of people who own Teslas. Don't harass them.

That said, if you do drive one, it would probably be advisable to be the most courteous driver on the road. There's a lot of angry people out there and the last thing any of us need is more aggression out there.

133

u/AML86 23d ago

I think the legal phrase "you know ot when you see it" should be applied. Random slick Model S in the grocery parking lot? Can't really make a judgement. Cybertruck with a massive Trump 2024 flag or two hanging off the back?* Raging asshole found.

*One of these was driving around my campus on the week of the election.

41

u/Mysterious_Maxwell 23d ago

Tbh, even if it was a Subaru Forester driven by a woman, the Trump flags would be enough to make the judgment.

17

u/Kroz83 23d ago

Not wrong. In a way it’s nice that maga loons voluntarily wear signage that identifies them as dangerous morons.

9

u/Delimeme 23d ago

For all their hate of the “virtue signaling” Left…goddamn they brand every facet of their life and body with outward facing displays of their cultural/political affiliation

7

u/Kroz83 23d ago

every accusation from them is a confession

Yeah, my mom bought a model 3 a few years ago, when Elon was really starting to show his true self to everyone.

I said something like "a Tesla? Really?"

She said she made car purchasing decisions on price and features, not politics.

I'd believe that for most non-Cybertruck Tesla owners.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Salt-Bat-900 23d ago

I’ve seen quite a few Tesla’s with bumper stickers lately pop up in my town lately that say “I bought this before he was a nazi” or just a crossed out “Elon”.

2

u/Susanna-Saunders 22d ago

You mean you bought it before you wised up that he has always been a Nazi...

→ More replies (3)

198

u/sparethesympathy 23d ago

I mean, on a cybertruck, it's waaaaay harder to believe they're trying to distance themselves due to regret about the nazi instead of safety and not wanting to be egged. since it was very obvious already that he was a piece of shit...

68

u/joebluebob 23d ago

Egged? In trumps economy?

I hate Elon more than most, and I gotta say there's a huge difference between "Bought a car from a company where the CEO's a fucking tool who says edgelord shit on the internet." and "Bought a car from the company where the CEO bought a candidate, did some nazi salutes, and is actively dismantling the government with no oversight."

There are plenty of people who bought into the hype, or just thought it was cool and don't really pay attention to the CEO of a company.

6

u/Ill_Technician3936 23d ago

Yeah it's sad for those people. They're kinda stuck to deal with any potential vandalism they might have for owning a Tesla. They can't really sell them either and I'm gonna go on what I assume is a pretty sturdy limb and say they're getting shit for potentially trying to trade in Teslas.

→ More replies (1)

18

u/turmspitzewerk 23d ago

yes, and the cybertruck came out pretty far into the latter half. he had already gone full nutter for months, and the mere existence of the cybertruck as a product is a consequence of his unchecked narcissistic and stupidity. there certainly are people who bought it without knowing better... but they really should've known better at that point.

6

u/Simba7 23d ago

Yeah but there's "He's crazy and the car is weird/bad."
And "He's a fucking nazi and the car is weird/bad."

They're pretty different thinks.

u/Krazyguy75 23d ago

My friend bought one for the meme back when it first became available. He's a strong blue voter. He just has a lot of money because of his programming job.

In fact, I'd reckon the vast majority of people buying Cybertrucks fall into the "rich and bought it for the meme" category. Do you really think the Nazi MAGA idiots are going to buy an electric car, even if it's made by Elon?

→ More replies (18)

22

u/iwuvwatches 23d ago

I think they are just embarrassed... Like finding out your KKK Grand Wizard Grandfather was gay. Just not cool if anyone finds out.

2

u/soul_separately_recs 23d ago

This would be considerably less disturbing than finding out my gay grandfather was also a kkk grand wizard.

The way you worded your hypothetical made it seem like the shock was only towards the homosexual revelation and no that they were kkk.

It's odd how willing people are to cheer for destroying a tesla but no one is saying they should go harass the guy with ram 2500 and 2 huge trump flags out the back.

10

u/caninehere 23d ago

It's wild to me that someone would be stupid enough to buy a Cybertruck and not align with Musk's Nazi shit since he was already out and loud about being a shithead when it launched.

4

u/formerlyDylan 23d ago

I agree with everything you said, especially the don’t harass them part. But Cybertruck drivers have zero excuse for not being proud of their purchase. That was way too recent to pretend you didn’t know anything about Elon. Still don’t harass the drivers unprovoked

3

u/MuyXNoy 23d ago

I feel bad for the people who got caught up with this political madness. I can't believe there are some people targeting people who drive Tesla cars.

2

u/trythis456 23d ago

I bought one in early 2023, can't really say I liked Elon ever since the submarine/diver incident.

But it was the best purchase range per dollar for an EV at the time.

I'm happy with the car, less so with the implication of it.

2

u/Handleton 22d ago

I considered it, then decided on the Rivian, then remember what it's like trying to leave Florida during a hurricane and got a Honda Pilot. You can't depend on getting charged all the time, but gas is still pretty much everywhere.

The thing is the decisions until two months ago are excusable by being ignorant. It takes most people years to pay off a car and we're in the most uncertain time in history. I've got friends who drive Teslas from all walks of life. Hell, if you own a Tesla now, you should keep it. It may be the only power source for your home soon if we end up with rolling power outages from a government shut down.

Don't judge people based on what they have, but on what they do. I say this as someone who road raged against a Tesla right after the salute and I regret it, even though I did it in response to the guy cutting me off and being a massive asshole.

I was manipulated into a rage that is out of character for me. I know there's a lot of people who feel more strongly or are more inclined to violence. I am just saying that if you are going to do what you're going to do, at least be considerate of your own actions, who they will actually hurt, and who they actually serve.

2

u/Farewellandadieu 23d ago

Most Tesla owners haven’t gotten that memo. 99% of the time they drive like complete jackasses.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/CumGuzlinGutterSluts 22d ago

Also don't get pulled over, at least in Colorado. Rebadging your car with different brands badges is highly illegal. You can debadge but not rebadge.

2

u/WeekendRecent2006 20d ago

A LOT Of ride share drivers own TESLAS. It seems like half of my Lyft drivers own one. They tell me they bought the TESLA to save on gas and for their perceived reliability. I didn't say they are more reliable, I'm saying that is what they tell me. They bought them WAY BEFORE the 2024 election and are just trying to make a living in the gig economy. Give them a break.

This is why I advise people to chill when they actually see a TESLA. You never know if the owner is just a working joe or jane like them.

Harassing and vandalizing TESLAs only gives Musk's/Trump's supporters more fuel to call the liberals as "unhinged" and needing to be "owned harder."

The best way to protest TESLA is to not buy them, not buy their stock, speak out against what Musk is doing especially to your elected leaders, and to vote for people who don't want Musk on their future team. That's all.

2

u/rraattbbooyy 23d ago

They’re still proud, they just don’t want their car vandalized.

4

u/Handleton 23d ago

I know that a lot of us are angry, but if someone bought the thing and were oblivious to things before, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and treat them like people are supposed to be treated in the United States. Innocent until proven guilty.

I say that as someone who doesn't own and has never owned a Tesla, nor have I ever wanted one. I just know that part of 'their' plan is to get 'us' to fight. I don't want to see my fellow Americans take the bait.

3

u/kingDavid425 23d ago

See this is how everyone should be. Give people respect. Doesn’t matter if they don’t agree with you. People are entitled to their own opinions. The democrats preach open minded ness and acceptance. They gotta practice what they preach. I say this as someone who didn’t vote because I refuse to back anyone that does business with sex offenders. Looks like I probably won’t be voting, potentially ever again

1

u/MajorFox2720 23d ago

I wish I could say they were,  but half of my near misses in the last 6 months was a Tesla running up on my bumper or trying to share my lane. I give their drivers a wide berth.

1

u/midcoast36 23d ago

This whole thing is purely virtue signaling. It’s people saying “I’m so virtuous, I would do all this to my car to show you how virtuous I am”

1

u/ATypicalUsername- 23d ago edited 23d ago

I mean, it's the left eating their own. Conservatives aren't buying EVs outside of the cybertruck, so it's liberals dunking on liberals.

As a Toyota owner, my truck would run literal circles around that stainless steel POS. Putting that on is an insult to Toyotas everywhere.

22

u/ToplaneVayne 23d ago

The tacoma is better at doing pretty much everything a truck does, but performance-wise its not even close. You picked like the one thing the cybertruck is actually good at.

2

u/dansedemorte 23d ago

my 4.0L v6 TRD taco has some oom to it, better than the shit tourbo v4s they are putting in them now.

2

u/SentinelZero 23d ago

I love my 5.7L V8, its got a great amount of oomph and it roars when I push the gas. Sure I pay for it at the pump but its a glorious engine. Toyota switching that for a 3.5L TT V6 is a big step back.

2

u/420CowboyTrashGoblin 23d ago

Only if you looking at it for a 2 to 3 month timeline.

When you compare the performance in a matter of years, (or negative years for the cyber truck) the Tacoma will eventually outperform the cybertruck, just because the cybertruck will stop performing entirely in 6 months or less (assuming it got delivered to the owner in the first place and the headlight wipers don't It's spontaneously combust, which is a difficult ask).

How you do, fellow Toyotas.

1

I might crack a grin if I saw one that said “TOY YODA’ on the back.

1

Thats clearly a triangle shape Toyota prototype. It's shaped like that to hide its true shape.

1

My brother worked as a Toyota master mechanic, then for Tesla, and quit about a year and a half ago.

He now works for a smaller business and the owner bought a CyberTruck "for the business". He gets to borrow it whenever he wants (his kids think it's cool to do launches).

I'm going to have him do this

1

u/SignoreBanana 23d ago

It would have to actually work for longer than a week

1

u/MlleHoneyMitten 23d ago

I feel like it was meant to be funny.

1

u/SitInCorner_Yo2 23d ago

You can feel the displeasure from that car owner by it LOL

1

u/Jindaya 23d ago

CyberTruck?

You mean the Toyota?

1

u/Lachwen 23d ago

I will say that it looks aesthetically better than the one in my town that has "CYBERBEAST" on the back in weird heavy-metal-band-style font.

1

u/Oh_its_that_asshole 23d ago

Maybe if you paint it white and mount an AA gun in the truckbed people would be fooled?

1

u/treple13 23d ago

Do you know all the things that people believe nowadays?

1

u/Optimal-Pie-2131 23d ago

I would have gone with Datsun or Plymouth 😁

1

u/ecb1005 23d ago

its also like, why are you ashamed now. you willingly bought that garbage "truck" that looks like it was designed by a 4 year old and is lethal for pedestrians AFTER musk was openly a nazi. so like just own it at that point.

1

u/nopunchespulled 23d ago

Anyone stupid enough to damage a person vehicle because they don't like Elon is dumb enough to fall for it

1

u/Physical_Display_873 23d ago

Have you noticed what people are believing these days? And, well, throughout recorded history?

1

u/SpookyghostL34T 23d ago

Yeah but ngl it made me laugh so it's a w

1

u/shadowst17 23d ago

And you can't really argue they bought a Tesla before Elon went full on Fascist.

1

u/asshatastic 23d ago

They should just go with “LAMBO”

1

u/Catweaving 23d ago

He's an idiot for buying a cybertruck, but he's got a good sense of humor so I can forgive.

1

u/WRL23 23d ago

It's pretty easy to tell on ALL the cars too.. look at the steering wheel for the T shapes or the dashboard in general. Heck the wheels/rims on the tires have the T too

1

u/Internal_Spell435 23d ago

The other two are somewhat believable, but the Toyota is just so low effort it's hilarious.

1

u/ClosPins 23d ago

They would after you tell them the Toy Yoda story!

1

u/ChaosDevilDragon 23d ago

i mean this as disrespectfully as possible to the cybertruck owner, elon was already mask off when that shit ass car dropped. and they still bought it

1

u/Nachofriendguy864 23d ago

How is someone dumb enough to buy a cyber truck clever enough to realize how funny that would be

1

u/crespoh69 23d ago

Maybe an 80s one, cars back then were blocky

1

u/rydee1 23d ago

How about a Yota?

1

u/ainsley- 23d ago

Yeah title is incredibly misleading this guy isn’t trying to fool people with that sticker it’s clearly meant as a joke.

1

u/phred14 23d ago

Toyota should sue for defamation. Accept damages of one dollar then give the guy a Toyota truck. Best advertising ever.

1

u/notnotaginger 23d ago

No one will ever believe it but I’ll respect it.

1

u/amjhwk 23d ago

no one is going to believe the owner didnt know Elon was a trumpist shit heel before buying it either

1

1

u/seasick__crocodile 23d ago

The Toyota one is clearly meant to be a joke. I really doubt that the driver is aiming to distance themselves.

1

u/Akoa0013 23d ago

Just needs the Prius C letters

1

u/CptMarvel_main 23d ago

Also like, Elon was already a well documented piece of shit when the cyber truck was new? Why are they only now distancing themselves.

1

u/Freibeuter86 23d ago

Well, as a European, I have to say that I think it's quite realistic for many people in the USA today to believe that. I have not heard much smart stuff from the US recently.

1

u/Vast_Celebration_125 23d ago

Which is the cybertruck?

1

u/JollyYoshi 23d ago

Toyota is much higher quality than that tin can on wheels

1

1

1

u/avahz 23d ago

Same

1

u/PigletSea6193 23d ago

For some reason that text alone made it less obvious for me that it is supposed to be a Cybertruck.

1

u/420CowboyTrashGoblin 23d ago

He's not actually trying to make other people think it's a Toyota, he's just trying to will the gods of fate into letting the car last a couple of decades instead of a couple of months.

1

u/Level21DungeonMaster 23d ago

No, but it sends the right message

1

u/educational_escapism 23d ago

Ngl maybe it’s just Toyota bias, but in endeared me to that vehicle. Once I see it from the front the bias will probably wear off though cuz that shot is ugggly

1

u/Astrnonaut 23d ago

Noooo shit?

1

u/RealisticNecessary50 23d ago

I believe that's a Toyota

1

u/Long-mustach 23d ago

That was the most funny one. "Hey check out my new Toyota Tacondra truck" lol

1

u/Coffee4MyJeep 22d ago

Need to add TRD stickers to make it more believable then?

1

u/regular_lamp 21d ago edited 21d ago

I don't think it needs to actually fool someone. As long as it makes it clear you are distancing yourself from the tesla brand it achieved its goal I think. Doing this in a funny or outlandish way is even better in my opinion. I'd probably put an Aperture Science, Umbrella or Weyland Yutani logo on there.

1

u/Certain-Peanut-7357 15d ago

It was certainly not the intention of the owner to make people believe this car is a Toyota. It is just an open protest and a way to distance himself from Elon Musk. In other words: It is a more subtle version of a gesture that involves the use of your middle finger ...
