Hello! I have an issue as per the title. Last time I posted I got a ton of help. We let the tank sit for a month and everything went well. Water parameters are normal. We have had the shrimps now for around a month and we think we can see eggs at one of them. However since a couple days they have been gathering at the top. Not all but it’s not their normal behaviour.
Is there anything I can/should do? Like I mentioned in the title the tank is filterless so I don’t know how to add oxygen.
Thank you for your help!

Fed my tank an algae wafer and noticed my berrried mama shrimp doing this. Is she okay? Is this normal behaviour for a berried shrimp? Can I help her?

I like them because they bring a tank together. For some reason it feels more natural to see a zillion little pikmin crawling around doing their own thing. It’s kinda like a snapshot of the wild or at least a garden. Same reason why I like snails
They’re also useful. Eating leftovers and other whatnot in a tank. Because of this they really don’t need much. At least that’s my experience with red cherry shrimp. Of course I still feed them directly but you cannot deny their utility.
Lastly I just think they’re cute. I think people have a general dislike of tiny crawly things with lots of legs, so this may be a contributing factor. I don’t know they just have a polite disposition that I appreciate.
But what about you guys? Why do you like freshwater shrimp?

This tank has been running for about 6 months now, I started with 4 neocardinia and now there’s around 20. I’ve noticed groups of baby shrimp on many occasions but I think the filter is sucking the majority of them up because I rarely see new juveniles. I’ve tried covering the filter with a sponge and putting a sponge inside the pipe to slow down the flow, but they keep getting clogged up and constantly need rinsing out. I’m tempted to just remove the mechanical filter, but I’m worried about crashing the cycle. The substrate layer is very thick, it’s well established now and it’s heavily planted, I believe this is enough biological filtration to keep the skrimp population happy and healthy but I’m not sure. Has anyone had experience removing their mechanical filter from their shrimp tank? if so what effect did it have on the tank?

Hi there found these two in my shrimp tank. I'm thinking they came on some moss that I just bought.

These photos are from my two tanks — 12L shrimp tank and 40L betta tank
I originally got 7 shrimp back in July from someone whose colony started with red and blue Neocaridina — their offspring had reverted to wild type, and the ones I received were mostly dark brown with tiger-like patterns. Some had subtle blue undertones, but most were in different shades brown.
In August, I added 12 more from my parents' tank. They were either clearish-lightish or redish. Fun fact: those are descendants of shrimp I got like 10 years ago (1 red, 9 clear), and the red still pops up today!
They’ve multiplied a lot since i got them, and I’ve mixed both lines to freshen the bloodline (if that’s even a thing?).
I honestly love them just the way they are. I love their variety and don’t care if they’re fancy looking or not. I just want them to be healthy and happy.
