Politics U.S. Politics Megathread

Similar to the previous megathread, but with a slightly clearer title. Submitting questions to this while browsing and upvoting popular questions will create a user-generated FAQ over the coming days, which will significantly cut down on frontpage repeating posts which were, prior to this megathread, drowning out other questions.

The rules

All top level OP must be questions. This is not a soapbox. If you want to rant or vent, please do it elsewhere.

Otherwise, the usual sidebar rules apply (in particular: Rule 1:Be Kind and Rule 3:Be Genuine).

The default sorting is by new to make sure new questions get visibility, but you can change the sorting to top if you want to see the most common/popular questions.

Sexuality & Gender Do guys enjoy giving oral sex to ANY woman ?

I've never been eaten out before and I wanted to do it with someone special. I realllllly like this 1 guy, I think I'm too emotional about him and he told me he wants to eat me out. He has done it before to 2 random girls as well but he said it was horrible experience and he stopped in 1 minute ... so idk if he's saying this cuz he really likes me.... or he just likes giving head.

What are the CHANCES he likes giving head to random women? Or do majority men like to do it only for the girls they have feelings for?

Edit- Y'all are missing the point of the question. I'm asking if men like to do it for ANY girl or only the girls they like

Culture & Society Why did America riot for George Floyd but not for the dismantling of their democracy?

I am an American (I know I worded the title weird, oops) who attended a Hands Off rally today and everyone was cheery and ringing bells and chanting. I’m very upset with the current state of things and this rubbed me the wrong way.

Culture & Society Why are all these women teachers having sex with underage students?

Like it doesn't make sense. If they want young why don't they just target 18 year olds? Like why risk your freedom and everything just to have sex with a 15 year old?

Love & Dating Is it okay to kiss a guy if we’re not dating?

It's been 3 months since I've joined college and there's this boy who is in the same class as me. We travel a whole hour to college in the same local bus every day. We've started texting since then and share reels with each other on IG. Other than that, we don't talk in the classroom at all, but at the bus station and in the bus, we talk freely without any judgement from classroom students.

So last night, I asked him about his ex and he asked about mine, and it turned out we have something in common. Although we flirt a lot over text and laugh at double meaning jokes all the way home and to college, we’ve decided to kiss each other—and tomorrow is the day.

We're not dating, we just want to kiss. Should I kiss him or not? It's my first kiss btw!

Current Events If you have, say, $100k in stocks, can you not partially sell ($20k) as a way to help yourself out and leave the rest to grow? Why would you not do this instead of losing it all in a crash?

I have been thinking about this, not only because of current events, but I had to watch Dumb Money for a class. It's about the GameStop stock thing that happened a few years ago. It depicted a woman who invested modestly, had $500k at the height of it, kept it all in, and then lost it all. Why wouldn't you take some out to help yourself out and leave the rest to gamble with? Why is it an all or nothing thing?

Culture & Society Why do people think that blasting loud music in public is socially acceptable?

And how are their ears not permanently damaged from this?

What's weird is that it's almost always the same shitty type of music to. I never see people blasting classical music.

Love & Dating Why do some people remarry so quickly after a divorce?

I’ve seen this happen quite frequently, within my own family and friends. A couple gets divorced, and within less than a year they’re already remarried to a new partner! And sometimes this cycle repeats multiple times; they have multiple marriages and divorces within the span of a decade. If your marriages clearly aren’t working out, what’s the rush to repeatedly get married again??? Why not just date longterm?

Interpersonal What are the best ways to limit masturbation?

I’m 20m, I feel like I masturbate wayyy too much. Sometimes 2-3 times a day. I feel like this will affect my ability to not only get hard but to have sex as well. I know there is nothing wrong with masturbating and it’s normal for someone of my age to be doing it a lot, but how can I limit it to maybe 1-2 times a week? How can I stop the horny from taking over?

Sexuality & Gender How do end a long term relationship?

I 33F and my husband 34M have been together (14 years), the last 3 years have been awful and I’m done. How do end it? Because I thought it was going to be a conversation, but it’s been like 1 conversation on repeat for an entire day. I have said I’m done, I said we’re over. I tried I’ve lost any hope of a future with you. I tried we should go our separate ways. And he just doesn’t get it. He just keeps circling back round to but I’ll do better, try harder, I’m sorry… But it’s all too late. I’m done

But it’s like he won’t accept what I’m saying to him.

Sexuality & Gender Why am I not cumming during sex?

Basically I lost my virginity last week and we’ve had sex a few times but I haven’t come during any of them. I have no clue why as I am hard and into it just not cumming. Also, after every time we do it I have this crazy feeling where my balls are aching. Maybe it’s because I’ve jacked off too much but idk.

Love & Dating I told him to stop seeing each other and he came back?

Upvotes

So, the thing is I went out twice with a guy from a dating app, and honestly, I really liked him — he seemed super nice — but I just didn’t feel that spark or connection in terms of actually liking him. So after the second date, I sent him a message and told him I’d rather leave things there and not drag it out, because I wasn’t feeling the connection and I didn’t want him to get his hopes up either.

He replied really respectfully, saying he understood, that it was all good, wished me well and all that.

But the next day, he messaged me saying something like: “I know things were kind of left hanging, but I wanted to tell you I bought that game you told me you wanted to play.” So I replied in a friendly but neutral way, and we started talking about the game (he kind of hinted at coming over to my place to play it).

Now I don’t know if he’s trying to give things another shot or if he just wants to be friends or what the hell is going on.

Sex How can I make tonight's sex special? I haven't seen him in weeks and I'm super excited

1.2k Upvotes

So I haven't seen my bf in weeks and I'm going back home today. I'm really horny and I would like to do something special. I'd like to do something that is suggested to me online, so please be part of my sex life :)

It can be an outfit, a position, an act, anything.

My idea was to wear makeup and my new shoes, and nothing else. But I also have new red nail polish and the shoes would cover it, and make up may be annoying for making out. Open to ideas!

Education & School Is 23 too late?

Hi

I am 23 years old. I graduated with a degree in botany. And I want help with being a botanist.

To be completely frank, I took botany for my college degree just because I had a gardening phase.

I found plants to be plain and boring. Yes they can be aesthetically pleasing, but I never understood the appeal to study them when I though they do not do anything at all.

I spent my college years having fun and barely passing my exams.

I have a degree in botany but I barely remember anything.

I know some basics like angiosperms, gymnosperms, vascular tissues, etc.

Basically literally what everyone else with any interest in plants know.

After my graduation, I had to think seriously about future careers.

I took a year gap because I was not yet sure about anything in life.

I know I sound privileged and I agree I am, but I am trying to make the best use of it now.

During my gap year, I decided to prepare for some exams and had to actually read my old college books. Everything felt new to me because of how much I did not study during my college days. BUT IT WAS ALSO SO INTERESTING AND FUN!!!

Plants were not at all the boring creatures I once thought they were. Photosynthesis is soooooooooooo much more interesting then we think!

I found myself constantly get shocked at how simple they were.

I found myself struggling with a lot of basics. It took me a good month to realise that monocots and dicots are visually different as well.

I know I am a shame.

But I am faced with another chance to properly love botany.

I just do not know where to start.

Please help me.

I want to know what books to read mainly.

I thought about starting a herbarium of sorts to document the different plants around me. Start small.

But I am not exactly sure how to do that either.

Also, will there be any job scopes out there if I continue with botany?

I know being a researcher is an option, but I don't think I am smart enough to pursue research..........

What other options are there?

People seem to have already achieved so much by 23 but I honestly have no idea how to move forward.

I know 23 is still very young for some people....... but I feel late. left behind.

I know it was my choice to take the gaps but I still look at my friends moving and cannot help but feel jealous.

I do not particularly want a glamorous job.... just something with which I can be financially independent.

If you are of the opinion that a botany career is not meant for me, that's also fair. What are some tips you would give to someone starting a botany related hobby?

I am sorry this turned into a whole rant. Thank you for reading this far.

Mental Health Did I have a bad therapist?

A year ago, I had a therapist who I met through BetterHelps teen sister site, TeenCounselling. I had her for around 6 months and during July she said she couldn’t help me anymore because I wasn’t listening to her, and she directed me towards another therapist. Her advice and what she said is making me panic and feel terrible so I don’t know what to do. I tried to tell her more about my situation as I remembered details and her response was “I don’t think that’s true”

I’m scared. I’m so scared right now.
