Discussion / Other Editing Sequence FPS question

I shot everything in 60fps so I can slow down whatever I need in post.

I'm editing on a 30fps timeline.

When I import a clip to the timelines in 60fps, and then slow it to 40% it looks choppy.

Why is this?

Should I have been editing on a 60fps timelines and exported in 30?

Should I Buy/Recommend me a... Recommendations for a video focused hybrid shooter

So I’m more focused on video (recaps, mini docs, commercial work) but I also do a lot of photography (portrait, sport/athletics). A lot of my work is faster paced, so a good rolling shutter is helpful!

I also like to be minimal/carry less gear, while still bringing what is necessary to create the quality I/the client needs.

With that, what would you do/invest in?

I was thinking an FX3/A7iv combo, or just a canon r5 mark ii….i don’t have any experience with canon, but I think they have great offerings right now, and I always love the images I see from them.

I don’t care about swapping systems, and at some point I think I would invest in an fx6 or c80, depending on which route I go.

Thank you for any input you have!

Discussion / Other What do you do with random misc gear?

I've been brutally downsizing my gear, and during this process I've noticed just how many little misc items have built up. The lens support that comes with gimbals, straps, dividers for bags, tripod plates, tripod spiked feet, additional lens caps, storage bags, lens cloths! etc. Items that are in perfectly usable condition but have not been used since I purchased the "parent" item. Since starting this process I now find it annoying all the extras some gear comes with that I have no choice about (action cameras especially).

So during my current mindset shift I've been wondering what others do with these items. Do you throw them out because you're not planning to sell the parent item anyway? Let them build up and find a storage solution for them because you never know when it will come in handy?

How do I do this? / What's This Thing? Heavy lens distortion in famous TV series?

Post image

Watching Shogun TV series. Overall quality looks good, but what's the thing with lens distortion? When filming indoor scenes - the entire movie looks this way. The lenses are having heavy focus breathing when focusing between far and near elements, the lines are not straight. Is that a special idea they wanted to achieve, or....?

Discussion / Other Trying to fix an overexposed video

My younger Brother asked me to try and fix this issue for him but honestly, I don't think I can. The issue I'm running into is when he recorded the video, the gameplay on the screen was really bright and it showed up as over exposed on the webcam in the obs recording. I've mentioned to him about rerecording it but, he says he won't because it was his first genuine reaction to the game. I Really don't know what to do

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Should I Buy/Recommend me a... DJI pocket 3 VS equivalent price camera with optical zoom for 4k video

I don't have a clue about cameras and just starting to look around and understand what products are available on the market. I know the pocket 3 has excellent 4k video quality but It's lacking the optical zoom which is something I really need for filming motorsports.
What similarly priced cameras are around that produces the same level of 4k video quality but also has the benefit of the optical zoom?
I've just gone through all of Panasonics digital camera range available in the UK and most of them came out years ago and the more recent ones don't appear to have good 4k quality?!

Should I Buy/Recommend me a... Studio Lighting Set Up Advice

Thumbnail

Would love some advice on a continuous lighting setup to shoot video in my mini studio I've made in a storage unit

I currently have 2 Godox 60W but now that I've moved into this studio, my videos sold out extremely grey and poor quality

I've looked all over the internet and got kinda lost trying to figure out which make or model lights would best fit.

I'm looking to have a bright continuous set-up that will allow me to shoot video from multiple angles

The studio wall is 3.6M x 2.4m (is a metal storage unit so super tight space but can attach things to the ceiling.

Budget isn't exactly high but I'm open to any advice to get the right equipment

I've attach an image of me vs the style I'm trying to achieve

Any help would be a life saver 😂

Technical/Equipment Help and Information Tape suddenly not reading?

Thumbnail

Hello! My mom gave me her old video camcorder that she used to bring around during events at school and well, this badboy witnessed me and my brothers childhood entirely!

It still works perfectly, we bought an extra battery and new tapes. I rewatched one of the tapes before and let the battery charge after. However, after trying it again, it suddenly doesn't work anymore. It still turns on, you can still navigate stuff but it suddenly doesn't read any of the tapes nor record anything on the new ones as well.

There are these two blinking errors (the red ones) on the screen that I'm not quite sure what means? It's not SD card related right? Since this particular model doesn't support SD cards, only tapes.

Please, if anyone is familiar with these old camcorders help me :(((

Hiring / Job Posting [HIRING] Video Editor for YouTube + Shorts | Budget ₹500–₹1000 per Video

Hey folks,

I’m looking for a video editor who can work with me on a per video basis. Here's the breakdown:

🔹 Type of Content: YouTube videos (around 4–8 mins) along with 5–8 shorts/reels per video
🔹 Editing Style: Fast-paced, crisp cuts, meme-y inserts, subtitles, punchy B-rolls & sound effects.
🔹 Reference of My Work: https://youtu.be/F_WuQkhxPR8 — If you vibe with this style, you’re the one I need!
🔹 Budget: ₹500–₹1000 per video (including its shorts)
🔹 Frequency: Weekly/Bi-weekly (depending on the editor’s speed and quality)
🔹 Language: Mostly Hindi, so understanding tone and humor is important.

💬 DM me with:

  • Your past work (YT videos/reels/shorts) [PORTFOLIO]
  • Turnaround time
  • Software you use
  • Your expected rate
  • 🔥 Optional but preferred: Edit a short sample (1–2 mins) using your own or any free footage in my editing style — helps me judge compatibility better.

Looking forward to working with someone chill and creative! Let's grow together 🚀

Equipment/Software News & Reviews (Old) Zhyiun Crane in 2025

Looking for an ultracheap/affordable Gimbal to hold my 1.8kg (about 4lbs) personal-/ travelsetup. (Sony Aps-c + Long Anamorphic)

Got the offer to buy a used Crane (1 - First Version) for 30 bucks.

I do not need any Special Features. Just a stabilizer. I do Not Care about 360-Spins. (You can cheat that feature anyway with any gimbal) or any fancy Tracking Features. I do Not want to have to Connect to a App Like the DJI-BS.

Does anyone still use the old original Crane?

What i need/want:

-Stable Footage - Not jerky (i know its technique - i fly big steadycam Setups and am absolutely able to do the Ninja walk) but still some cheaper/older Gimbals introduced jerks on their own sometimes - battery that lasts. -gimbal not losing calibration randomly so i can quickrelease my life.

What i don't need:

-modern/fancy Features -App -large Payload (i'd rent If i'd we're to shoot in larger Equipment as the budget would allow for that)

Any reason not to get the Crane for that insanely Low price?

Thx🙏🏻

Should I Buy/Recommend me a... Good 4K 60fps cameras? (NO line-skipping or crop)

Anyone got a list of decent 4K60 options? No crop and no awful lineskipping/pixel binning where it looks like 1080p.

FX30/a6700 work? Even the old GH5 II?

Technical/Equipment Help and Information Ulanzi LE20 20watt repairability.

I know this is not the right place to ask. However, this the place i know that people might actually have the item in question.

I am in need of a portable lighting device and after few research here and there i plan to choose Ulanzi LE20. However, i have 1 concern with it using internal battery. I have electrical engineering background and concerned about repairability of the devices i use. According to the promotional image, it should use one of those cylindrical battery which is quite common. However, i can't actually find image of it other than the promotional image.

If anyone that have the item in question and also interested in its internal component. Please post a photo here. Thx.

Discussion / Other Curious if anyone has experience filming working dogs?

I’d love to see your videos to check them out and maybe get inspiration! Also, anyone have advice? Tips and tricks? I’ve mainly filmed and photographed horses. Looking to switch over to dogs. Namely, working Border Collies. With them being so much smaller and turning on a dime, curious on good settings and best ways to track them. Advice on getting the best shots? With adding some sheep to the mix and unique angles and views!

I’d be working either with my older Canon 5D3 and 70-200mm 2.8 lens Or just my older IPhone 12 for some fun.

Equipment/Software News & Reviews Mini tripod recommendations for car interior slider shots

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey guys, I’ve been searching for a solution to shoot these kinds of slider shots for car interiors and I noticed this person using a chunky power bank with tiny (gimbal feet?). I was wondering if you had any good recommendations for 2 mini tripods I could use without overbearing the weight (approx 5kg total) or tearing up the seats. Any ideas?

Equipment/Software News & Reviews Hollyland Mars 4K frame rate issues

Does anyone have an idea on why the 4k wouldnt work on a specific frame rate? Does anyone have any recommendations on a better wireless transmission that works on frame rates 59.94?

Backstory:

We changed our frame rate from 29.97 to 59.94, and can no longer get a picture. We tested it at frame rate 50 & it works fine, but because one of the five cameras only has 2 specific frame rates, we need 59.94
