While I don't have anything against eating sapient species exactly, I do have a problem with raising them like livestock. If you kill something in combat fair and square and want to eat it? That sounds fine to me. Might be a little gross, but it's still not something unheard of. But raising beings with a language and culture so you can eat their babies? Come on now. Isn't baby-eating just comically evil and a prime way of getting armies raised against you?
