Driftscussion PSA: You must flair your posts.
We automatically remove posts which are not flared with the appropriate topic that applies to your post.
If your post is not appearing after you make it, that's probably why. Check your flair and the bot should approve it in a bit. Before messaging the mods, check that first.
If you're not sure what to flair, then look at other posts to see what others have in the past.
Thanks all.

MOD RANT Before You Post: Read the Sidebar
On official Reddit Mobile App: Click on “Learn More About This Community.”
There seems to be a downward spiral in posted content recently, and the mod team has been doing what it can to filter it out. But the team isn't able to moderate every post as they happen.
A couple tips:
Read the sidebar. It has posting guidelines, it has starter car recommendations, it has the DRIFT BIBLE for beginners on techniques. Outside of actually getting seat time, the side bar should provide you with a very healthy amount of information. Anything else, just research it... That's part of the fun of learning a new skill or sport.
"Don't be an ask-hole." This is not Quora for drifting, its a subreddit to share cool stuff. Not to spoon feed every person who is moderately interested.
Lets keep this subreddit with positive content that supports each other. It can be frustrating for a content creator when when they see a snow donuts video get 500 upvotes, but someone can post a very legitimate edited and high quality video and they only get 4-5 upvotes.
edit: changed grammar to be less personable

I’m at Formula Drift Long Beach! I shot this from the top of the bleachers, over the fence with my long lens. Anyone know who the gentleman standing awesomely close to these cars is?

Driftscussion Steering wheel hand placement
Hi all, I was watching some drift clips and a question popped up in mind.
I've noticed the two things in my limited experience of watching clips/videos online;
- Drivers who let go of the steering wheel during the self steer part of the drift and catches it while maintaining both hands at 3 and 9 o'clock position.
- Drivers who follow the self steer with either one of their hands whilst the other is at 3 or 9 o'clock position.
I personally tend to do the first one and I would correct it with the gas pedal or some counter steer. As for the 2nd one I tend to see it on drivers with smoother transitions and drifts with minimal counter steer and seems like they've got insane throttle control. It's more aesthetically pleasing to see this technique as well. But I've seen both used in street drifters to grassroot drivers and all the way to pro level drifting.
Is this a matter of preference, skill level, car or suspension setup? or all of the above? I'm still trying to understand things here and I'm building up my seat time. So do educate me on this please :D

How would one drift a ford Maverick (24) hybrid?
FWD: Geared CVT: No Ebrake: No TC
How would i be able to drift if it is even possible? I have slightly done it in dirt, but i was curious if it was possible in general.

Video Getting better and better every event.
Finished my third event. No handbrake, stock power, just a mini mantis kit for the C5, coils, and some cooling upgrades. Still got a lot to learn but this has to be the most fun I've ever had in a car.

Driftscussion Question for drifters (E36)
Been looking for E36 M3 for a while now and see majority of them are abused (expected?). My question is: what usually goes bad suspension and chassis wise on drift cars? Can there be a permanent damage to it or i can simply replace bunch of parts and make it stock? This particular one hasn't been modified on the interior, just added turbo and whatever driveshaft things you guys replace.. Thanks!

Driftscussion Question about Track Days
So I was thinking of going to a track for the first time on an open drift day coming up to get more expercince sliding my car as my only experince consists of empty parking lots, snow days, rain days, intersections in the middle of nowhere, and a couple hairpin turns. I'm very careful where I practice so i'm not putting others at risk only myself. Because of this i have already in learning had to replace a control arm.
Again though i'd like to be legal and go to a track but it dawned on me what if someone hits me on accident or trys to tandem with me and bumps my car, i get it comes with the sport and I cant be mad about it but i'm not trying to drift to learn styleish slides, i'm trying to learn more in a rally sence so I can take turns faster. Any advice or thoughts? I was really looking forward to going but now i'm not so sure.

Japan Osaka Drifting Experience
I'm planning to go to Japan in June, mostly visiting Osaka area. I'm trying to experience professional drifting (not a lesson) with two people. Does anyone know of anywhere near Osaka that does that?
