Jacksonville to Phoenix; I don't want a boring trip!
 in  r/roadtrip  6h ago

If you swing through Boerne I'll get you a beer and wings at my favorite brewery. Also if you have time, highway 90 going west out of town is a lot more scenic than I-10.

Who bought the "Dip" Today?
 in  r/WallStreetbetsELITE  8h ago

I'm not totally convinced it will get better in the next 4 years. It might just get worse until they justify deferring an election, and then it will just continue to get worse. It kind of depends on the next eventual POTUS at this point

All these people saying it didn't have a collar, y'all never had a stray puppy as a kid. The fact they didn't even knock on the door was a foul.

My job offers “unlimited PTO”…...but using it feels like a trap
 in  r/antiwork  1d ago

As a manager, I had a guy that was a total badass professionally and also liked to take a ton of PTO. Talking a few months a year. He voluntarily left when I asked him to limit it to 6 weeks. I think his family had money.

Unpopular opinion: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is a mediocre, boring book.
 in  r/motorcycles  2d ago

I remember it as possession is less important than verb tense so I have to put an apostrophe in the verb one.

It's dumb but it works for me. And I couldn't remember which was which until I was in my thirties lol

spring reminder rule1- it's your battery. rule2- don't stop
 in  r/motorcycles  6d ago

That was what I thought three times in a row. Nope. Regulator/rectifier if anyone comes across this with their KTM or Husqvarna constantly eating batteries.

Can this be done in 15 days on a motorcycle?
 in  r/roadtrip  7d ago

You kind of answered your own question there. You could get by with 6 hours a day for 12 days and give yourself 3 zero days in there. Math adds up fine.

Anybody here have experience with touring bikes?
 in  r/motorcycles  8d ago

2000 Tourer, currently the pipes are out at Mark T's getting spiffed up. Looking forward to hearing those things. Previous owner cut off the pipes and the drone resonated inside my helmet horrible bad. Like sticking your head inline with a straight piped civic.

I've had a Goldwing, an Electraglide, and now a Valkyrie. The Goldwing is the only one my wife's actually fallen asleep on the back of.

The weight is an issue if you're a small person. I'm 6', 200lbs and it was fine for me in parking lots. It's surprisingly agile for how enormous it is. A lot of the weight is held pretty low so it feels more nimble than you expect.

There were a couple reasons I got rid of my 1500 Goldwing. The seat was old so the foam wasn't up to the task anymore, and I didn't want to spend the money to get someone to refoam old vinyl, and there were no aftermarket seats made for it anymore. Similarly, the fork wasn't the best suspension from the factory, and 20 years later it showed. The options were few and way overpriced. I tried to live with an alternating sore and itchy butt, and tried to justify upgrading the suspension, but I just couldn't so I sold it.

What’s your “comfortable shoes” movie?

They're showing it at Alamo Drafthouse this summer. I'm hoping it's a sing-a-long

Which bike is better or why Aprilia RSV4 or Yamaha r1 both are 2024?
 in  r/motorcycles  13d ago

RSV4 because V4

Honestly, just sit on them and have the dealer start them up. One will grab you. Also, check out riders-share.com in your area and see if either of those is available so you can spend a hundo deciding with real world riding experience. It's pretty great. I've been convinced online that a bike was perfect, then when I rode it, it just wasn't the bike I wanted.

What's your longest trip on a Valkyrie?

I'm thinking about putting together a month long trip late this year or early next and I'm curious what others have done on these mile-eaters. Any tricks or gotchas?
