Trump administration weighs drone strikes on Mexican cartels
 in  r/moderatepolitics  7h ago

I'm fine with it. Mexico would be much better off without the cartels and this is in our own back yard. I think we should help the Mexican government rid themselves of these cartels in whatever way possible.

This is much better than the Obama administration selling weapons to them.

Are there effective alternatives to activated carbon for removing VOCs?

Are there any air purifiers that are effective at removing VOCs but don't use activated carbon?

Is The Switch 2 really That Expensive?

No. Look at what they are charging for the Switch 2 in Japan. This tells you all you need to know.

LOL. Might not be my preference for doneness, but it definitely does look good.

A couple of these would work well (if you are in the USA).

Why does the Levoit Vital 200S-P say it’s only HEPA when in sleep mode?
 in  r/AirPurifiers  1d ago

Claiming your filters are HEPA only at the lowest possible speed (sleep mode) is laughable.

Because their filters are less effective than others.

It seems like UV is a very F'ing important thing apparently
 in  r/AirPurifiers  2d ago

UV light is only effective on particles that have already been caught for a long period of time. Since the particles have already been caught, they can no longer affect you. It's science. That's just how the technology works.

What are you talking about? I grill all my steaks on my kettle.

UV light takes a lot of time to work, especially for the amount of power that UV light systems in consumer air purifiers have. A particle passing through a UV light will not be affected by brief exposure to UV light, so I'm not convinced of your findings. Even if the UV light is a part of a photocatalytic filter (which is needed to trap particles and expose them to a UV light long enough to make a difference), you would not notice a difference.

I'm talking about the cook. It might taste good to you now, but there is much better.

You don't really have to worry about ozone generation in modern air purifiers, but those air filters will only be good for a closet.
