Can you imagine being such an uninteresting, hate-filled sore loser that you have to turn a minor disappointment into your entire personality?

Not to defend him but there is a chance he is contractually obliged to hawk this at his shows.

In disaster-stricken Okanagan, a conspicuous silence from Poilievre
 in  r/britishcolumbia  1d ago

Transitioning to a green economy now will be easier and give us the expertise that will put us in a better position for future prosperity. We can't control others, but we can set ourselves up for success and use that example to increase the pressure on our allies to decarbonize.

We have 40 million people but the oil and gas/other dirty fuels we produce and export has a disproportionate impact when you include it in our global carbon footprint. We are going to feel the pain of climate change, one way or the other. Why not take on the challenge when we aren't in the thick of climate catastrophe and no choice politically but retool our economy anyway? Why not set ourselves up for success in a way that could create new industries and jobs for Canadian workers? We have the resources and land for all kinds of clean energy projects. Why not invest in them instead of oil and gas infrastructure that will literally render the earth unrecognizable in 100 years?

Maybe there's an argument for using the profits of oil and gas production to fund a green economy a la Norway, but I've seen no one in power make that suggestion as of yet. Until I see that I just see further investment in fossil fuels as moral abdication and cynical defeatism.

Denial is a strong impulse. Unfortunately, it seems to be primarily the purview of those who will be dead by the time the full impacts of climate change will be felt.

The economic pain of climate change is coming one way or the other, but dealing with it now and potentially lessening it in the long run is unattractive when we can ignore it and leave the consequences for our kids to deal with instead.

Gotta be fetish boots rather than something ordinary folks would wear? Very cool!

Games are expensive to produce and the price hasn't kept up with inflation. It's gonna happen eventually, guys, especially for AAA games.

What's giving you dopamine right now?

Connective tissue on the bottom of my foot got inflamed. It makes walking really painful when it flares up. It's getting better but it's taking months to heal.

Maybe I should go borrow my friend's lab and go to town with the undercoat rake.

Not American! Unfortunately where I live there aren't a lot of people who share my political views, and the nearest city where there is regular protests/active organizing is an hour away from me. Social anxiety and organizing are a difficult pairing for me, especially since I haven't found much community where I am and I lack the skills/emotional fortitude to build it. I do have some non-political volunteer things I should apply for, however.

That's a really good idea! Having the structure and external motivation of a class might be helpful, especially since body doubling really works for me.

General Question/Discussion What's giving you dopamine right now?

I need to stop hyperfixating on the news, and I doubt I'm the only one. I need something novel to think about so I actually do something with my time other than stare at my phone on the couch like a lump all day. I would love to hear what's giving you joy right now - hobbies, books, media, fun facts, anything. Infodump away. What's giving you that emotional regulation juice?

Not to brag but my cotton dishcloths last forever and don't break down into microplastics.

Trump is giving TikTok another 75-day reprieve to find a new buyer as Amazon, MrBeast, and Alexis Ohanian line up to make a deal

Why would they sell? The US is a big market but when you already have the world hooked on your product you don't need a single country.
