ArcCorp's potential for content is immeasurable (Area 04)
 in  r/starcitizen  3d ago

I think having instanced proc-gen "dungeons" would be the next implementation of the sort of gameplay we've been introduced to in Pyro. They discussed the underground waterworks or whatever they called in last year which would grant access to instance pve areas. How much randomness would be in those instances is probably up to what the engine allows for.

But I could imagine the system be expanded to the thousands of random roofs with unused landing pads across ArcCorp. They the need to build the in game tools to hook into the systems they've already built, which was probably the goal all along.

The bar right next to where this was shot is still closed from the hurricane, so it must have been purse wine.

It's like that hairdresser, Janet Stephens, that figured out Roman women's hair. Historians were convinced that a lot of the historic, elaborate hair-dos were wigs. But she figured out how they were easily achievable with then contemporary hair pins some string.

What's the best funeral you seen in a TV Show
 in  r/television  10d ago

The New Pope had a funeral scene for Girolamo, a disabled man taken care of by Voiello, one of the Cardinals.

He is Voiello's closest friend and only confidante. So he bullys the Pope and national leaders to showing up for this funeral and delivers the best eulogy I've heard in a show.

FOX News White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich: "Why aren't launch times on a mission strike classified?" WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt: "Do you trust the Secretary of Defense? Or do you trust Jeffrey Goldberg who is a registered democrat and an anti-trump sensationalist reporter?"

Can I just say too that the tonal shit when she said Goldberg raised all kinds of red flags with me. That emphasis was very thinly veiled, thin enough she might as well just said it out loud.

Yeah, if the group isn't looking for the Miami nightlife Key West is the place to be. Charter a boat for some activities, or just go carousing. Also if you want to save on flights you can fly into Ft. Myers and take the Key West Express boat down. Sometimes flying into that little airport can be pricey or a logistical drag.

Great for having a bonding experience with your bros, steal a Hemingway cat. /s

You will be amused and slowly build up a list of restaurants you'd like to try in New York City.

It doesn't reach the machiavellian heights of Succession, but you get some great performances out of great actors. And then you get to watch them eat, or act like they are eating.

Austria is the high watermark for well run public housing, it demonstrates that a highly sophisticated and robust socialized housing system can coexist with a private marketplace. Half of housing in Vienna is public run, and they take great lengths to mix income and populations.

Their may be no where on the planet that has taken the idea of affordable housing as far as they have.

But we have such a stigma here in America, because our model for public housing produces slums.

CIA director says US has paused intelligence support to Ukraine

So many people I've talked with in my day to day fail to understand how the entirety of our economy is predicated on the Pax Americana. Its end will be a shift in the geopolitical epoch, it will be violent and tumultuous followed by an era of uncertainty. When the Pax Britannica ended it led to two world wars.

The hubris of these fuckers to precipitate its end, thinking they'll be fine and dandy is sickening.

I think the Mormon population is already primed for being taken advantage of by the Jodi type of snake oil salesmen. Their social culture makes them easy targets for someone to come in and "program" them towards certain behaviors. Whether a Connexions type group or an MLM, its a population that seems to lean towards group think and conformity (which the other therapist calls out in the opening minutes of the docu).

I wonder where this will lead to
 in  r/Damnthatsinteresting  Feb 28 '25

And its not very accurate for China, they spend a lot more. But because how they report their spending it all ends up in different pots. For example the People's Armed Police isn't included in their Defense spending, but its a "para"military organization with a budget that would push this figure over $500B, it is a standing army of ~1.5 million.

Also R&D budgets that other nation's would include in their defense budget isn't included in China's, which make it difficult to get an accurate read on how much they are spending, but the gap between them and the US is far narrower than this chart leads us to believe.

I am just some stranger on the internet who would typically agree with that sentiment. But I will say KCD2 reminded me why I love the action rpg genre, it is perhaps the best entry in genre in years.

I felt that nothing would recapture the halcyon days of Morrowind or Oblivion for me, especially after getting burnt by Starfield.

But KCD2 is simply a great game and worth getting whether today or a year from now. I think its a rare evergreen game.

Why?

Mods.

First pic from US’s secret space plane - as its true purpose remains mystery
 in  r/Futurology  Feb 22 '25

I would have thought the purpose of the shuttle was pretty obvious? Servicing the keyhole satellites and other secret platforms up there. With how much more often they would change orbits than a regular satellite I imagine they would need propellent to be added every couple of years.

Also if they are at all modular it could conduct periodic upgrades and such.
