AITA for telling my sister not to announce her pregnancy at my wedding because I was going to announce mine, but she did it anyway?

I’m not going to read any comments. I don’t have time. No. Never. That is outrageously inappropriate.

I have said to my supervisor multiple times that I wish I was hounded that hard to submit my mileage. I just can’t. I can’t tell you why, but I’m lighting money on fire.

These are my same two orders at both restaurants, except I order the meatball hoagie with light sauce. If they give it to me with regular sauce then it takes all of the 2 napkins they give me to scrape it off. sigh

I’m genuinely asking for myself: are you suggesting we avoid conversation? If not, any ideas for conversation? I’m from the where they can’t wait to stuff Trump down your throat, despite literally being in their worst interest. If yes, best to you! Happy holidays!

My neighbor’s dogs killed our dog
 in  r/homeowners  Nov 14 '24

I hope this doesn’t get buried.

We rescued a 7 month old puppy, who was rescued with 17 other animals from a hoarding situation. She was transferred from another rescue, so our rescue didn’t have any information about the hoarding situation. We were so relieved to find out she wasn’t abused because she was the sweetest angel in the world. After we had her for 3 months and loved her more than life herself, she viciously tried to murder our 13 year old dog who was lying asleep on the floor and laying defenseless against the couch. My husband and I weren’t able to get her off because we didn’t want to kill her or make 13s injuries worse. When we finally got her off, she parkoured over us and doubled down on the attack. My husband had bite wounds and a broken thumb, and I had wounds all over my body from trying to get her off. We immediately surrendered her. “Don’t think; tell the rescue we’re on our way.”

I don’t say this to make your post about myself, but to relate. Please be kind to yourself and get therapy. The trauma you have just experienced is unimaginable. You’d rather have an appointment scheduled before your shock wears off/triggers kick in, than have to wait for one after reality sets in. I had an established local virtual therapist who, when I explained the situation, she asked me to visit her in-person and we did a modified version of EMDR. I don’t entirely understand it, but my sadness and trauma responses weren’t sustainable, and this helped immensely.

My heart breaks for you having to navigate this with your neighbors and their dogs, and that I can’t relate to, but if you ever think that my experience as an internet stranger can be helpful to you, then please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Honestly, I’m not editing this because sharing this makes me sad and I would probably not end up posting at all. So, Redditors please be kind.

[Question] What gave you the final push to rise above fear and do things that made you anxious?

So, I (39/f) have ADHD and have spent a majority of my life being clumsy and covered in bruises. This is the first time explanation that has ever connected the dots. I just cried in validation.

I quit a lucrative management position at a higher end restaurant after my GM told me that I had to have someone who was calling out due to stomach issues TO SEND ME A PIC OF HER POOP! lol he also said to have her hold a piece of paper with the date like a hostage video.

What hasn't returned to normal yet after the pandemic?
 in  r/AskReddit  Nov 03 '24

I mostly agree with you. I see my therapist virtually and she has been INCREDIBLY effective. When I experienced a horribly traumatic event, she recommended that I have an in-person session so that we could try EMDR. We have since gone back to virtual sessions and she’s still very effective. Maybe she’s the anomaly, but I appreciate her and the convenience of virtual sessions.

[Question] What gave you the final push to rise above fear and do things that made you anxious?
 in  r/getdisciplined  Oct 03 '24

I have a fear of heights. I need to take Xanax before flying (and the dentist).

We went to the Udvar-Hazy Center, which is a giant airplane hangar and under the Smithsonian umbrella. I love museums and I was really enjoying myself so I walked up the ramp to the third level which is along the wall because the whole hangar is wide open. I had an absolute panic attack. I tried to play it cool but had to get down asap, after I already crossed the halfway point.

After racapping with the hubbers, he casually mentioned that he and my sister thought I was afraid that I would fall off the side. WHAT?! LOL No. I was just afraid of being so high and my intrusive thoughts make me think about if the structure fails. This wasn’t long after the Key Bridge collapse. ish happens.

Problem is this happens for me on the second story of a mall where you can see that you’re basically levitating and on bridges when I’m in my car. I really do trust science and engineering and I know I’m being irrational. I know my dentist does whatever they’re doing to me ALL THE TIME. Routine shots and blood work… SAME. I trust the professionals but I can’t turn my brain off.

It’s exhausting in my head. How do I just casually push aside my anxieties to just be realistic?

What's something that instantly disgusts you?
 in  r/AskReddit  Oct 02 '24

So, I didn’t do this all my life, but have started to do it recently. I’m equally disgusted by not only myself, but also others who do this. I literally start to heave when others do it. I’m so disgusted by myself that I started to make doctors appointments.

I went to an ENT and the appointment felt super transactional. They referred me to a gastroenterologist who diagnosed me with GERD. I was very disappointed but had faith in my “medical team” for having a plan.

Because I hit my deductible, I went on a doctor appointment bonanza. I scheduled an appointment with a dermatologist for a regular check-up and to go over an irregular bald patch on my head. She started to treat the bald patch, but because of its irregularity she suggested that it could be an allergy or an autoimmune response.

Cue the allergist. This was the most personal doctor’s appointment I have ever had. There were two doctors, husband and wife. The both spent an hour and a half with me, completely going over every detail of my life. I have a lot of food aversions so we were really crossing our fingers that I didn’t have an allergic reaction to one of my safe foods. Fortunately, only mild allergic reactions to seasonal allergens.

The allergist then diagnosed me with a deviated septum and referred me to a new ENT. He put his pointer fingers on either side of my nose just under my eyes and applied slight pressure and lightly spread his fingers and told me to breathe. Holy hell. THATS how everyone else breathes?! So effortlessly?! So, everything in my snotterbox just gets stuck there and causes irritation. He put me on Astepro for that, while I wait for an appointment with the new ENT.

He went on to explain that he thinks the GERD is related to the deviated septum, that when I’m asleep it relaxes, closes, and basically creates a vacuum: sleep apnea. He explained that my esophagus basically closes off because it knows the stomach acid is coming up and goes “not in my house” (RIP Mutumbo) He prescribed me two antacids.

Maybe you can share with your coworker that your (internet) friend very excitedly pointed out that she used to do the clearing but had this epiphany and is so relieved she can fix it! I am legit so excited to, hopefully, fix the cause of so many of my health issues.
