Seasonal Solidarity
 in  r/FTMOver30  Dec 24 '24

πŸ«‚ Holidays are pretty rough this year. If possible, take breaks or go for a walk if you can to get some fresh air. You got this, just take things one day at a time.

I'm not sure if they're open today/tomorrow, but in case they are and you need someone to talk to and live in the US, there's the trans lifeline.

You matter and the world is brighter with you in it.

overthinking again
 in  r/ftm  Dec 24 '24

When my anxiety gets bad, I have to stop it before it spirals. "If I ever change my mind, I can stop. If I want to stop transitioning/etc, I can stop." It helps stop the loop.

And physically writing down every day, even if it's just for a minute, what makes you happy about transitioning. What changes you've seen or are excited for and can't wait to have, so when those thoughts pop up, you have a stronger base to remind yourself that it's okay to be happy for where you're at and where you're going.

I hope some of this could be of help.

Anyone want to share some funny/nice trans experiences?
 in  r/ftm  Dec 24 '24

A previous coworker never, not once, misgendered me nor used my deadname. Before HRT, everything. I will always remember their kindness in my heart.

Anyone else felt anxious and tired when started T?
 in  r/ftm  Dec 24 '24

If it helps, it took me an entire year to decide to do it, and I was trembling I was so nervous on my first day. Changes are a gradual process, and if it's too much, you can stop at any time. Change can be scary, but take things one day at a time.

And it's perfectly normal to feel tired, it could be due to the adrenaline or anxiety of building up to the event, it's a normal reaction I think. And it's also okay if you're not ready right now too! πŸ™ƒ

Is there anything that could take your mind off of it for a minute? Hanging with friends or family, or watching a funny movie? And then come back to it in the morning after a good night's rest. You're going to be okay.

Any advice for mood swings on T?
 in  r/ftm  Dec 24 '24

Exercise/walking helps me regulate mine a bit, providing an outlet when I'm upset or mellows me if I'm sad. Unfortunately, like puberty, sometimes moods are just gonna swing, and as best as we can do, we still make mistakes. Please be kind to yourself during this process.

And it's definitely good to drink a lot of water, eat well, and get enough sleep--I find that if one of those is off, my mood is usually affected.

And if your moods are pretty severe (super sad/mad/tired for a longer period of time, like weeks/months), it wouldn't hurt to check with your doctor just in case. I'm still trying to figure out my levels, but it seems for me that if my T is too high, I get really anxious and it's really hard to calm down.

Does anyone else feel like they are forced to not enjoy things like Christmas anymore?
 in  r/ftm  Dec 23 '24

πŸ«‚ For some of us, the holidays can be especially hard. Please be kind to yourself. You are valid, and you deserve to feel loved, valued, and supported. If you're with unsupportive family during this time, make sure to take breaks for yourself if needed, sometimes going for a walk or watching a silly movie can help the time pass. And if you are in the US, the translifeline may be available if you need someone to talk to.

You matter and the world is brighter with you in it.

My family has gotten even more unkind this year, but it helps that I'll be spending some time with my colleagues at work and am making a cake to try and celebrate a little by myself if I can.

I badly want to start
 in  r/walking  Dec 22 '24

I try to break it into parts. If I try to meet my goal number in one shot, I can, but it's more mentally tiresome and then it makes me harder to be motivated the day after.

Maybe something like 2000-3000 steps in the morning, and then at night? And then if you want to increase that number, add some steps in the afternoon? But I do find that having a walk pad does help more than anything for me to get my steps in since it's ready to go any time.

No one showed up
 in  r/ADHD  Dec 22 '24

πŸ«‚ I'm sorry that happened. Please be kind to yourself, maybe put on a nice movie or take a warm bath, and be sure to eat and get some rest.

It feels like it's been really hard meeting people lately, and I know for myself, if I don't attend something, it's usually because I got too anxious and was in no way shape or form the fault of the host. Them not going does not mean they were not interested in going or meeting you, there could have been a lot of reasons they were not able to attend.

Maybe for a little while go to events or groups that have a small fee to attend, like an art or pottery class, where you can meet with the same group of people over the course of a few lessons? It will be more of an incentive for everyone to go if there is a fee, and takes off the pressure for you to have to plan the event/host, so if people didn't show, it would hopefully help alleviate some of the RSD. But you aren't alone, and I'm sorry that happened. And please be kind to yourself, the holidays especially can be a rough time right now.
