Wifi 6 is a weird mix with the rest of this crap. Can that processor even keep up with the peak link speed?

I asked a Print shop if they can print something with a "Non-commercial" creative commons. Is their answer correct?
 in  r/3Dprinting  Jun 29 '23

A couple of ways to think about this:

  1. If they printed you a cube of equal weight and equal print time, would they charge you less? If not, they're not profiting off the nature of the model, only the nature of the service provided.

  2. They're not advertising the model for sale, so they're not gaining any business based on the nature of the model, only the nature of the service.

Can you hear church bells from your home? If not, what do you hear everyday where you live?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jun 29 '23

Distant trains. Also cars, but only if they're obnoxious.

8 to 5 workers, what time do you mentally clock out at?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jun 29 '23

I feel like I'm only clocked in for about an hour before lunch and an hour and a half before leaving.

What’s an outdated “fact” that you were taught in school that has since been disproven?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jun 29 '23

You sort of come across the probabilistic cloud of particles in Nuclear Physics, not that it's significantly less specialized than Quantum Mechanics.

What’s an outdated “fact” that you were taught in school that has since been disproven?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jun 29 '23

That sort of depends on your job. I did a LOT of trig today at work.

TIL that in 2013 the number of U.S. children named “Cheese” skyrocketed by 450 percent.
 in  r/todayilearned  Jun 28 '23

Google says ~36% of Americans are lactose intolerant. I'm going to be lazy and assume that's a uniform distribution, unaffected by age, race, socioeconomics, whatever. Since there are about 33 Cheeses born every year at the peak (according to someone else in the thread), you can expect 3.24 lactose intolerant Cheeses every year, at the peak.

Lithium iron phosphate isn't the same chemistry as lithium ion, and they charge differently.

Needs to be readable from the far end of the arrivals area, imo. Make it 20 feet tall.

Evergy Time-Based Plans Coming October 1 For Missouri
 in  r/kansascity  Jun 26 '23

They could probably do more for their generation capacity issues by sending everyone $5000 for insulation upgrades than this new plan will ever accomplish.

Fellow glasses wearers, do you keep your glasses on or off during sex, and why?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jun 25 '23

Off. They'll get smudged right away anyway, and dirty glasses are really distracting to me.

Do you think “mandatory” licensing should be expanded after learning about the Titanic submersible?
 in  r/engineering  Jun 23 '23

In the US the FAA is the agency legally permitted to certify aircraft and equipment. They're not under the authority of state engineering boards.

What are these metal rods? They came with a used torque driver set
 in  r/Skookum  Jun 22 '23

They look like the handles to torque wrenches for RF connectors, but idk why there are two handles stuck together.

One would hope they'd flip on their civilian transponders for a search and rescue op.

If Reddit dies…where does Xbiking go?
 in  r/xbiking  Jun 22 '23

Kbin.social is the url. Not sure if I can actually link, reddit has been doing weird things with links to those sites.

Basically it's a reddit-esq site that anyone can host an instance of. Users on any instance can see posts, sub to communities, comment, vote, etc, on content from other instances, including instances of Lemmy and mastodon.

The about pages on kbin probably explain it better than I can.

Edit: I see you have Lemmy on the list already

To fuse or not to fuse. That is the question.
 in  r/diyelectronics  Jun 21 '23

You've designed your circuit to handle expected operating conditions. Add the fuse to safely handle situations that you don't expect.

Do you think “mandatory” licensing should be expanded after learning about the Titanic submersible?
 in  r/engineering  Jun 21 '23

I work on aircraft equipment. We don't sign and seal anything because we have to submit a massive amount of design and test data to a certifying authority (the FAA and/or EASA, typically). They issue the final approval (effectively sign and seal) to produce and sell the product.

The non-construction disciplines are fundamentally different because we can reasonably build and test our designs in a controlled-risk environment. Pretty hard to do that with a bridge.

If Reddit dies…where does Xbiking go?
 in  r/xbiking  Jun 21 '23

Kbin.social (and/or Lemmy and mastodon) seems to be the de facto alternative.

What are some lesser-known car maintenance tips that every car owner should know?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jun 21 '23

I once had my windshield washer fluid freeze on contact with the windshield on the highway. It was about -15 F that morning. Fortunately the lines were mostly frozen as well so I didn't get too much on there, but definitely a major oh shit moment.
