Is it tough being a bus driver? Whats bad about it?
 in  r/BusDrivers  3d ago

Do you get paid the break in the middle? Here the break gets paid at half the rate. Making it attractive for those chasing more pay

Daily Cyclone Alfred post
 in  r/brisbane  28d ago

I'm a driver and I have no idea what I'm doing today. Just told to come in and wait to see which routes can run.

My advice is to call Translink to get the most updated information.

Did temu scammed me?
 in  r/TemuThings  Feb 18 '25

Solved. For some reason, the free items disappeared from the orders. But they do appear from on the support section. I managed to claim all items, no issue.

Thanks πŸ‘

Questions ❔ Did temu scammed me?

I wanted one item and during the purchase I got a buy 2, get 4 free items. I purchased two items and then the 4 free items had to be claimed daily.

On the third day, I logged in to claim the third free item but the last two items are gone!.

One the free items is the one I actually needed.

Bus Driver seeking advice - what career opportunities do I have?
 in  r/careerguidance  Feb 02 '25

Just found your past by pure chance. I'm in Australia and in a similar situation... Tired of a career, tried moving to software development. Didn't work so now driving buses.

Hope you're doing well

Just Got a Job Offer...
 in  r/BusDrivers  Jan 29 '25

In general it has been a positive change. I was really struggling in my previous position. I worked at a med lab mainly doing routine medical testing. The work environment turned very ugly with management changes a few years ago.

I also enjoy lab work, I got to do regular work, some light research and IT duties.

The most difficult part of the change has been the lower pay and the monotony of the job. We have a lot of different routes, but it's still just driving around.

But it's pretty nice being your own boss out there... Other drivers ask me how I'm dealing with the stress of operating a city bus and I'm like - man this is the chillest job I've had in over a decade!

Is this sustainable growth? πŸ’πŸ¦‹
 in  r/brisbane  Jan 29 '25

I don't think it is. Single storey 4b Houses in Sumner (not a particularly attractive suburb). Were selling for $500k in 2018. Now they are selling for $900k.

I don’t what I wanna do with my life, should I become a transit bus driver as a β€œlast” resort?
 in  r/BusDrivers  Jan 26 '25

I'm 39 and six months into it. I was severely burnt out from 15 years in my previous professional career.

Is this what I dreamt I would be doing at almost 40? Nope. But I'm sleeping better than I have in years, and my anxieties as Monday approaches are gone.

Biggest cons for me have been the monotony of the job and the lower pay. But it is so nice being your own boss once out on the road.

do security guards in Brisbane and surrounding suburbs get a lot of overtime?
 in  r/brisbane  Dec 25 '24

What about driving buses. I'm not sure if your injury would prevent it. You can sign up and do broken shifts where you get a big break in the middle that pays at half the rate. I know blokes pulling over 100k doing 6 days a week

Repair retaining wall cost estimate
 in  r/AusRenovation  Dec 24 '24

I would diy that. Replace the wall using blocks you can get at Bunnings for around $5 each. It has a rear locking lip to keep everything in place. Congratulations on the new place!

52 - and what's next?
 in  r/brisbane  Dec 12 '24

Sorry I just read the 'online' part of your reply. Hang in there.

Regarding the bus operator job. They have intakes around every four weeks. It moves pretty slow and it can take a few months between applying and starting training.

Once you hear from them (and you will), get your General Drivers Authorisation ready to speed things up.

I agree with you. This situation is ridiculous and somehow needs to change because it is unsustainable.

I don't know. I remember friends in Sydney getting the same advice when houses could be had for $600k back in 2009.
