Headphones - Closed Back Best wireless headphones for my preferences under $350?

Hi everyone! I was hoping you could recommend me some good headphone options for my preferences under $350. Closer to $200 would be better, but I'm willing to shell out a bit for quality!

My current pair is really the only thing that I have any experience with, other than crappy cheap earbuds ––Sennheiser PXC 550-II. I've really enjoyed them, but after 4.5 years the noise-cancelling has degraded somewhat and the pads are starting to disintegrate. My ears also get hot sometimes wearing these.

For new headphones, my priorities are noise cancelling and ear comfort (both the band and not making my ears feel overheated). I use headphones primarily for music rather than gaming, mostly on noisy subway commutes and while working in the office. Obviously I want good sound quality but I'm also not sure I'd notice subtler differences. I mostly listen to indie, folk, and classical music. Open to either open-ear or close-ear depending on what y'all think would work best.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Headphones - Wireless/Portable A newbie needs help with choosing wireless headphones

Hello,

I'm looking into getting a pair of wireless over-ear headphones for outdoors. Casual strolls through the city, walking sessions, just spending time in the open with my music in general.

Now, I'm a boomer at heart, and I never tried wireless headphones in my life ever before. At home, I have a nice pair of Beyerdynamic DT 880 Edition 600 Ohm, paired with my Topping A30 Pro / D30 Pro stack, so I'm used to my music sounding nice and good, crystal clear.

However, I'm not as picky when it comes to outdoors. As I said, I just want something casual for enjoying my music outside. I listen to all kinds of music, including pop, rock, classical, acoustic, and other, so I suppose a somewhat balanced sounding pair of headphones would be nice.

I will be using my phone, which is OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite 5G.

I have a chance to buy a pair of brand new JBL Live 770NC for just 79€. Is this a good pair? If not, I would like to get a few recommendations for over-ear wireless headphones for under a 100€.

Thank you, and have a nice day~

Headphones - Closed Back Best Headphone with Mic under 200$

Hey, I’m looking to buy a new pair of headphones for gaming. I also have a record player and would like to use them for that as well. I don’t want anything that looks too “gamer”—I prefer a more classy aesthetic. For example, my PC case is a Lian Li Dan A3 in wood.

Currently, I have a HyperX Cloud Alpha, but it’s starting to fall apart and the sound quality isn’t great. I also own AirPods Pro. I don’t have a strong preference for tonal balance, but I mostly listen to rock music.

Wireless isn’t a must, but it would be a nice bonus. I’d also like the headphones to have a built-in mic, since I don’t want a separate one cluttering up my desk.
And for the budget, I want something under 200$

Thanks a lot for your time and help!
Have a nice day everyone !

I am mostly looking to use it to listen to pop music but I am looking for an all-rounder closed back within this price range and these two grabbed my interest. Can anybody who tried both chime in? Thanks.

Headphones - Closed Back Suggestions for gaming and music

Upvotes

Hey all, I'm looking for suggestions on a new pair of headphones.

I've been a console gamer my entire life, but last year purchased my first gaming PC. After a bit of research I ended up with a set of Razor Blackshark V2 headphones, and I've been happy enough with them thus far. On top of gaming, I'm a big music guy, in particular I listen to a lot of "extreme" metal. In the past I've typically listened to most music via my phone and always have a good pair of wireless headphones for that. (Currently Sony WH-1000), but the last couple of months I find myself listening to music a lot more while sitting at my PC, and this is mostly where I'm not terribly happy with my Razor headphones.

So I find myself interested in picking up something new, but I'm a bit overwhelmed with all of the options. At this point I'm ready to move away from "gaming" headphones, as all the reading I've done suggests that I can get much better options for my money if I'm willing to look beyond all of the "gaming headset" marketing mumbo jumbo. I followed this line of thinking when purchasing a chair for my computer desk, steering away from the targeted "gaming chairs" and instead buying a high quality desk chair that I've been ultra happy with, so I'm hoping I can take the same route with this purchase.

For a budget, lets say $600. Spending less would definitely not be a bad thing, and I'm willing to stretch that out some if there is an option that would really blow me away as well.

For my gaming, I'd say I play 80% single player games (rpgs, survival games, some sports etc) and maybe 20% of the time I'm playing multiplayer with Escape From Tarkov being my main game in this category. Obviously for my single player stuff I'm more interested in immersion, and for my multiplayer stuff I do need a mic and a game like Tarkov is super sound dependent so the ability to hear small footsteps or shuffles etc is quite important. All that said, I can't really complain about my current Razors in this department, though I do feel that they don't excel at picking up those small sound cues in Tarkov.

Music is more where I'm looking to improve my listening experience. I listen to a lot of different music, but 90% of what I listen to is metal. Death, black, atmospheric, doom, thrash..... I love metal. With that in mind, huge BOOMING base isn't the goal, but I listen to a lot of stuff that has a lot of tight, fast base that some headphones I've used in the past don't do well with. The doom stuff I listen to in particular is slow, and very bassy.

Where I live I don't have the ability to try out much before I buy, which is part of why I'm here looking for some help. I've never found a pair of in ear buds that feel comfortable for me, so I'm a bit leery of IEM style. I've also owned closed back headphones exclusively for a number of years. I'm not necessarily against open back, but I'm a little leery just because I'm just not used to it. The downsides I read of open back seem to be sound leaking out, which isn't an issue for where I will be using this. It's just my wife and I in our house, and these headphones will be used exclusively in my office where I am alone, so none of that would be an issue, I'm just not really used to that style.

I'm also not against going with something that requires a separate mic, amp etc if necessary, but I will admit I tend to get a bit overwhelmed with all of the details of that stuff so I would respectively ask for some specific detail regarding any peripheral equipment I would need if a particular suggestion would require extra stuff. I'm also not hung up on wired vs. wireless. I'm currently using a wired set, and since these are used exclusively at my desk I just don't find a wire to be a big deal. I'm certainly not against wireless, but wired is not a deal breaker at all.

Hopefully that covers the details needed to help narrow down some options, but if I'm leaving anything out I'm happy to add more detail if needed.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone is willing to provide!

Headphones - IEM/Earbud usb-c wired earbuds recommendations?

Upvotes

hey everyone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S20 fe and I got the old wireless Galaxy Buds and think they sound GREAT. However, I've recently learned that usb c earbuds exist, and I wanted to grab a pair, but I'm pretty overwhelmed with the selection available.

my question: are there any wired usb c earbuds that have a sound/music playing quality that is comparable to the galaxy buds' music quality?

side note: I only care about the sound quality for music specifically. microphone/voice call sound is not important to me. thanks :)

(edit) - The Galaxy buds were around $70-$80, so I'd like to find a pair of wired earbuds under $100 (if possible)

Headphones - Wireless/Portable Cheap headphones gaming and music

Upvotes

I primarily use headphones for gaming and listening to music, especially classical music. Since I don't need heavy bass, my priority is high sound quality and clarity.

Are there any good options available in the $100–$200 price range?

Headphones - IEM/Earbud Which IEMs of Different Sound Signatures Should I Get?

Upvotes

Id like to purchase a few iems with different sound signatures; Id like to purchase a neutral, treblehead (what are the differences betweent this and bright?), u-shaped, and warm iem. What other sound signatures are there aside from bassy and v-shaped?

I currently have the 7hz zero, er2xr, and galaxy buds pro.

Ill be using it with my phone via an us apple dongle, both indoors and outdoors. My budget is $450.

Edit: At what price range would you say diminishing returns occurs for iems?

Headphones - Closed Back Noise cancelling headphones with Bluetooth and 3.5mm cable for rough bus rides?

Upvotes

I've been reading a lot of threads complaining of a popping noise issue when using ANC on a bus, particularly with the Bose QuietComfort and QC Ultra, which I've had my eye on. Are there good quality headphones out there that do not have this issue/have workarounds or at least have the option to turn off ANC?

Details for my use case:

  • My bus ride is >50 minutes on a rough city bus. Lots of bumps and rattling, people talking, etc.
  • I need Bluetooth connectivity for my audio jackless phone, but still need 3.5mm cable for older devices
  • I have a small head and I wear glasses fulltime
  • I will also sleep with these on

I'm willing to get a little spendy up to maybe $400 USD for a good investment. I'm in the US. Any suggestions beyond the QCs I should look at? Any success stories with the QCs on rough transit rides?

DAC - Desktop Can I drive my FIIO FT1 and FIIO FT1 PRO with my FIIO KA5 Portable DAC?

Upvotes

Can I drive my FIIO FT1 and FIIO FT1 PRO with my FIIO KA5 Portable DAC? I don't want to buy a desktop dac unless I really need to. So if I can actually power it using my KA5 that saves a lot of money. I want to be able to power it optimally. I don't know much about impedance levels. So if you guys have any idea on whether they can be powered easily, let me know.

I don't have much experience with DACs.

Headphones - IEM/Earbud Question about headphones/IEM

Upvotes

I used to have the samsung s8 USB-C AKG headphones and i liked it a lot but ever since it broke I've been using oneOdio A71D (which they are bad imo) and I've been thinking of buying KZ KS10 pro but don't know if it worth it ( they are about 15$ in my currency ) i do prefer IEM more than headsets and my options on IEM are limited for budget and variation. So what do you guys think about the ks10 pro compare to the samsung AKG ? .

Headphones - Wireless/Portable Headphones recommendation for my Team Lead | Budget under ₹15,000(indian rupees) | Wireless Bluetooth with boom mic

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations of a Bluetooth headset to my team lead (he is the kindest person i ever know)

Requirements: • Budget under ₹15,000($175) • Wireless (Bluetooth) • Should have a boom mic (for meetings and calls) • Preferably comfortable for long usage • Decent battery life

Bonus points if it has good sound quality too, but mic clarity and wireless connectivity are the main priorities.

Please suggest some good options!

Thanks in advance.

Headphones - Wireless/Portable which pair do i go for ??

i have a list of headphones within my budget and that i'm considering but i'm not sure what would be best for me as i keep seeing different answers. i'm open to more recommendations but these are just the ones i've been looking into. not got much of an idea of what im talking about so if stuff doesnt make sense forgive me lol

i'm looking to get a pair of over ear bluetooth headphones which i can use for a range of things like listening to music (no genre/tone preferred i listen to everything from pop to death metal), general music production and recording (not 100% professionally, just to post bass covers and maybe do a few side projects so nothing serious), to be used at home, in public, and on transport. i have a budget of approx £200 but would like to keep it as cheap as possible.

the main things i am looking for is comfortable for 2hr+ wear, fits over ears properly, smooth design and don't stick out much, and clear sound quality.

i am used to in ear wired and wireless earbuds. not getting these as they wouldn't be suitable for what i'd like them for and i've had issues with them falling out and getting itchy.

some options i have looked at are: JBL Tune 770NC - £69.99 Sony ULT Wear - £119.99 (catered towards people who listen to a lot of bass heavy music so its not very diverse or neutral) Soundcore Space Q45 - £139.99 (heard good things but not a huge fan of how they look) Sony WH-1000XM4 - £177.99 (getting into more expensive territory, would be reluctant to buy)

Headphones - Closed Back Got a new gaming laptop with fans like a jet engine. What do I want to have on my head to drown out all the noise and have amazing audio?

So I just got an Acer predator Helios 18, which I love amazing laptop, but my God when the fan spin up to full speed it’s like a jet engine and the onboard audio is absolutely garbage so I need headphones. Good headphones that will isolate and sound amazing.

I don’t play any competitive games. It’s all single player strategy you know laid-back stuff because that’s just who I am so I’m not worried about footsteps or anything like that. I just want the best audio quality. Should I just use a really nice pair of ANC cans like the Dali IO-12 or the Bowers & Wilkins PX8 or the B&O H100 or is there some magical IEM or headset that I’m not thinking about? If the passive sound, isolation is good enough I don’t care if it’s wired or wireless it just has to be closed back so I can take it to work if I need to. Also fine with the focal Bathys basically what do y’all recommend can be gaming focus can be audiophile focused.

Price is of absolutely no concern. I can spend any amount although I’d prefer not to spend thousands

Headphones - Open Back Which wired headphones to buy?

Hello dear audiophiles!

My husband's birthday is coming up and he really wants new headphones. He's a bit of a weirdo and doesn't own a smartphone and so he mainly uses his headphones to listen to his old old old iPod and while playing on his old non-bluetooth-having stationary computer.

I noticed that almost all headphones are wireless which obviously presents a bit of a problem. I also know nothing of headphones, only that he's been using his old sennheiser over ears for as long as I've known him and he loves them. Unfortunately they finally took their last breath and stopped working.

And so I need advice - what can I buy for maximum 2-300 euros/dollars with good sound and a choard to plug into his computer/ipod?

Also I have no idea what the flairs mean so please have some mercy on my choice haha

Amplifier - Desktop Plug and play headphones in amp?

Hi all! Noob here.

I’m looking for a fairly cheap pair of headphones (~$200) to plug into my amp and listen to records. I’m currently using my Sony XM4s which work fine, but I’d like something that’s just dedicated to my amp. Ideally it’d be plug and play, so no dedicated headphone amp or anything of the sort. I also don’t mind either open or closed backs.

Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

Headphones - Wireless/Portable need recommendations for wireless usb headphones

i’m looking for wireless headphones to use for gaming. in my experience, “gaming” headsets are pieces of junk with poor audio quality for high prices. i’m wondering if anyone here knows any good audiophile headphones that i should look into.

my asks: - color is white or mostly white - wireless usb (NOT BLUETOOTH) - no external boom mic (or if there is, it’s detachable or retractable [i already have a boom mic])

i will pay ANY price, although i dont want to cheap out and go for a budget option. looking for the best of the best. thanks :)

Headphones - Wireless/Portable waterproof over the ear headphones?

I am looking for wireless bluetooth waterproof headphones over the ear and truly waterproof not just something I can walk in the rain for a while and have them not get destroyed. I would ideally like them to be ok price but mostly right now I am looking to see if a pair exists at any price point. I am looking for them to be waterproof enough so much so that I can wear them in the shower and I want them to be over the ear headphones and wireless bluetooth those are my only requirements. I don't really have a preferred tonal balance I really just want them to be ok sound quality thats not shit but it doesn't need to be perfect air on the cheaper side as budget isn't the best but lets just see if there is anything at all that meets my requirements. I would love noise canceling like absolutely love it but if the headphones can't be worn in the shower then forget it thats basically my only trick requirement can they be safely worn in the shower so essentially completely waterproof. I am not gunna ever comply submerge them in water essentially but if there primary and basically only intended use is in the shower so please correct me if I am wrong but I think that makes them need to be completely water proof not just water resident or sweat proof. I would really love if theses headphones exist but I can't find anything that isn't just sweat proof and water resistant or that is over the ear as over the ear is a requirement as well.

TLDR:
Requirements over the ear
waterproof enough to be used in the shower as there primary use constantly
wireless and bluetooth
Comfortable to wear nice cushions on the ears (not necessarily against the headphones that are just standard circles at each end but I usually don’t find those that comfortable)

Requests
Noise canceling above other requests
good sound quality
cheap

Headphones - IEM/Earbud Need advice for headsets

Hello! I have a wireless headset that is Bluetooth and needs to charge when it dies, especially when I am playing a game and I need audio for queues.

I have a mic but always willing to replace it as well, what I like for my headphones and what I have currently, is the audio. How if something is walking on the left side usually the sound is coming through the left side and not the right, I would like something like that, that is wired so I don't have to deal with charging with headphones.

So any advice helps for a wired headset, noise cancelation is nice so if I am in a discord call nothing can be heard in the background and comfort as well for long hours, any recommendations? (Idk if the tag is right for this lol)

Headphones - Wireless/Portable best affordable study wireless headphones?

I'm a uni student in australia with a budget of 200-400 budget for wireless headphones. While I don't mind spending 400ish, I would really like something more on the affordable 200, 300 end, aesthetic, comfortable and portable that I can use to listen to my lectures and noise cancel with. I've been reccomended mainly quiet comfort bose and sony WH-1000XM4 headphones. I haven't really tried any of them on and don't really have time to, but bose's design is so ugly imo, the way its built, and while sony headphones are more aesthetic imo, the sounds quality according to some reviews is worse than bose and there is a heavy bass. I am not a fan of heavy bass as I get headaches easily, and heavy noise cancelling also makes me disorietated. Is there any other headphones I can look into?

Headphones - IEM/Earbud Need Suggestions: Tangzu Wan’er S.G, Simgot EW100P, Truthear Gate, or 7Hz Salnotes Zero 2?

Hey everyone, I’m narrowing down an IEM choice and could use your input. My setup is a Pixel 6 with an Audiocular D07 DAC (since there’s no headphone jack on pixel 6) and an Apple Music lossless subscription. I’m after crisp, detailed sound—prioritizing resolution and an engaging, lively experience. My music taste leans toward a balanced-to-V-shaped profile: punchy mid-bass, warm mids, airy and detailed treble, plus decent staging for immersion. I’m a detail freak—want IEMs that catch every nuance, with solid bass and wide staging for that spatial, surround-sound feel.

Here’s what I’m considering:

Tangzu Wan’er S.G: Heard it’s strong on vocals—how’s the bass and overall energy?
Simgot EW100P: Curious about its clarity and treble—worth it for detail lovers?
Truthear Gate (My Pick): Touted for “ultra-wide staging” is it really worth it ?
7Hz Salnotes Zero 2: Seems well-rounded—how’s it stack up stock?

I filtered these four from a ton of options. Stock sound is key, but I’m open to EQ if it’s a game-changer. What’s your pick for my setup and taste? Appreciate any insights—thanks!
