Drama Final Audio ZE3000 SV is a WORSE but more EXPENSIVE copy of Rose Technics Ceramics X

Despite being $95 more expensive, the ZE3000 SV is actually a slight downgrade.

·Casing: Same shape but black color.

·Chamber: Same shape but black color.

·Mid frame: Same shape but black color.

·Sound port: Same shape but black color.

·Motherboard: Same F8-W but black color.

·Chip: Same WQ7033

————————————————————————

In the 8th image, you can even see that the parts are interchangeable, you can put a part of ZE3000 SV on a Ceramic X and it still works because it is a direct (but black color and way more expensive) copy of Ceramic X.

In the 9th image you can see it have almost the same wielding layout.

In the 10th image you can see they have the same F8-W motherboard but ZE3000 SV painted it black, and they have the same WQ7033 chip wielded on the motherboard.

In the 11th image it shows you can straight up put ZE3000 SV into Ceramic X's charging case.

12, 13th image shows they have the same dynamic driver.

In the 14th image you can actually see the 95 dollar more expensive ZE3000 SV actually have worse old wires hanging outside the parts, meanwhile the older and cheaper Ceramic X actually have newer and better wires integrated in FPC.

In the 15th image you can see the more expensive ZE3000 SV have worse single layer diaphragm, the cheaper Ceramic X have better composite diaphragm.

After getting the Solaris OG 2019, I can say this is such an amazing audiophile experience! Very nice set I must say.

This is, imo, a jack of all trades iem. The bass quality is there, and the quantity is enough for all audiophiles out there.

The mids are neither recessed nor upfront in your face. The mids are crystal clean. Every instrument sound how exactly they should sound.

Treble is exquisite. Not harsh but somehow, it has all the information needed and wanted.

Technicalities are fenomenal! Headstage with excellent width and height! Imagining is pinpointing. Amazing all-rounded set.

Any questions, feel free to ask me. Oh! One more thing, here is my YouTube channel: PractiGadget

News Fiio DSP import files for massive OPRA custom headphone / IEM database.

Post image
13 Upvotes

After recently purchasing the Fiio K17, I wanted a way to take advantage of the DSP PEQ presets using the amazing community driven OPRA headphone measurement database from Roon.

If you're unfamiliar with the OPRA database, details are here: https://github.com/opra-project/OPRA (OPRA is a community-driven, open directory that compiles headphone product information and EQ compensation curves to make high-quality audio optimization accessible to everyone, regardless of experience, software, or gear. Thousands of presets from oratory-1990, Crinacle and others for virtually all major headphones and IEMs.)

I wrote a tool to convert the entire database into importable files to use with the Fiio DSP desktop application for Amps/DACs/DAPs that utilize it. The preset files are in the Fiio .XML format so they can be used with the Windows or MacOS version of their application. I used my K17 to develop and test the presets but to my knowledge they should work with any Fiio product that the DSP application is compatible with. (Please let me know if you have a Fiio product that won't import the files. There is one section of the import file that indicates the product but I'm not sure it matters to the application.)

Here is a link to the Google drive folder containing all presets in a zip file. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Envuhvryc9S1hs2CdvBDiwQFXkbCgxxM?usp=sharing

I will periodically refresh the files from the OPRA database for changes are new presets as they are added.

To use these presets, just download and extract the zip file, run the Fiio DSP application on Windows or MacOS, select the custom preset you want to use, click 'EQ Import', browse to the file you want to import, click 'EQ Save', select the custom EQ you want to set it to, and that's it. Unfortunately, Fiio doesn't let you set the name of the preset instead of 'Custom1', 'Custom2', etc. but with 10 custom EQs available on the K17, it's easy to load them up with your favorite headphones / IEMs.

Feel free to comment or drop me a message if you find this useful.

Show & Tell Got lucky and grabbed the Sennheiser HD660S2

The Sennheiser HD660S2 had always been roughly 680-700 USD converted to my currency in my country. But I got them new for less than 450 USD (435 USD) a couple of days ago. I think that's a win in my book. So up they went into one of my collection.

Now, sound-wise I think I still prefer the Meze 105 Aer over these. Don't get me wrong, the mid bass and vocals are just pleasant on the HD660S2, but they lack the definition up top that I usually crave (my favorite set among my collection are the Arya Organic, go figure). The mids give that ample details, but somehow the 105 Aer just give more oomph in the bass department and more satisfying vocals, albeit maybe a bit thinner since the 105 Aer have that small dip in the 2KHz. The HD660S2 have that intimate vocals just like the HD600 or the HD6XX, but less forward center compared to the HD6XX in vocal region. They can be more relaxed and less exciting than the HD6XX vocal-wise, but the bass is slightly more elevated and give proper warmth to the mids.

I don't think they're of good value at their original price, but at 400ish dollars, I think they're okay if you like the HD 6 series tuning.

DIY/Mod Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO 3.5mm headphone jack replacement

Post image
Upvotes

The actual 3.5mm connection piece broke off / detached from the headphone cables, can’t find it either. The remaining bit does not seem damaged.

The cable is integrated into the headset and cannot replace the entire cable.

Can anyone recommend a replacement product (UK)? Can’t find much online other than adapter pieces or extension cords.

Discussion Has anyone come across any universal "3D Audio" software they somewhat like for music/movies?

Upvotes

Yes, "3D audio" is bad and all that, but generally.
If I were to want to experiment and see if I like something or not, what are good places to start with when it comes to 3rd party programs?

Nahimic's attempt has been impressively bad, and can't say much different for Windows' built-in one, so... What should I try?

(Also, I am not even sure if I am actually looking for the "3D" part of it all; I just want to try different audio effects, so any suggestions appreciated.)

Discussion A question about sound stage

Upvotes

Why can "8D" sound demos on YouTube give this crazy effect of being in a space where the sound source seems to travel far away from the listener, while the impression of sound stage on normal tracks are a lot more limited?

There's clearly something I'm mixing up or not understanding here, but please enlighten me.

Example of the "8D" sound: https://youtu.be/0-9mDUCEzQM?si=nIc-tcKf09Yaq5n6

Show & Tell Audeze Penrose headphones. Break on their own

I received these headphones as a gift from a friend almost a year ago. Unfortunately, I don’t have a receipt or any documentation to claim a warranty or get a replacement. So, be cautious if you’re considering purchasing these. I’ve found that they’re prone to breaking on their own, and this issue is quite common in the same spot. This unfortunate incident occurred at the most inopportune moment. I’m currently facing financial difficulties and don’t have a pair of headphones. Consequently, I won’t be able to get new ones for an extended period… so yeah fml

Discussion The underrated Sony MDR M1

Post image
83 Upvotes

We almost never talk about these headphones, often treated only as an expensive upgrade of the Sony 7506. Yes, they are professional studio headphones and in fact I bought them mainly for that, but also for listening to music they are really enjoyable. I also own the Sundara and the 660s, each headset has its own character, but these are simply pleasant to listen to. They have the most beautiful bass (also for that they are closed back), they are not acid or annoying in the highs and mids highs. What do you think about the M1?

Discussion Headband swapping Arya with other Hifiman headphones?

Upvotes

Hey guys,

Was wondering if anyone has had any success with swapping the headbands on any of the Arya line headphones. I saw that there's some third party ones on Amazon that are like other Hifiman models, and that Hifiman themselves sell replacement parts.

Just curious thanks.

Discussion HiFiMan Amanda v3 need help! Right side died

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some advice or a second opinion from anyone familiar with headphone repairs.

My HiFiMAN Ananda V3 (Stealth Magnets version bought in Dec 2023) recently stopped working on the right side after a short fall from around 40 cm (off a desk onto a hard floor). I’ve opened it up and inspected the internals. The ground wire’s insulation is torn, and the copper is exposed. It’s still attached to the solder pad, but the connection looks stressed and possibly damaged.

I’m not entirely sure if this is the actual cause of the sound loss or if something else might’ve been affected. I’ve attached clear photos showing the wires and solder joints.

I’d really appreciate it if someone could take a look and let me know:

Does this look like a cold or broken solder joint?

Would re-soldering the ground wire likely fix the issue?

Is there anything else I should check before attempting a DIY repair?

I’d rather avoid spending $250+ on a repair if this turns out to be a simple fix.

Any advice, feedback, or Melbourne repair shop recommendations would mean a lot!

Thanks in advance 🙏

Discussion Am I Crazy?

Post image

Recently got a pair of ZMF Atticus (used). They are beautiful, well build and comfortable. Been listening to them exclusively for about 3 weeks. I like the “big” warm but still detailed sound.

Recently put my Argon mkiii’s back on for a listening session and fell instantly back in love. So much so that I started swapping back and forth between the Atticus and them every minute or so. I know I can enjoy varies headphones for different reasons and be good with it. But I’m just still so shocked by how much I love these Argon mkiii’s. Not saying I’m going to sell the ZMF’s but it’s got me questioning if I really need anything more for what I like “warm, wide and lush sound”.

Any one else had an experience like this? Finally get a pinnacle headphone that you have been wanting forever and love it. Then slip your old love back on and question why you did it in the first place? lol, just wondering.

Cheers.

Discussion Why electrostatic headphones, given how far planars have come

Planar headphones have gotten extremely good over the past 15 years. A high-end planar headphone can do what electrostatic headphones do best (e.g., speed, transients), while addressing deficiencies in electrostatic headphones (e.g. low end response). Electrostatic headphones also require specialty amplifiers, which runs up the cost and gear needed.

What reasons are there today to go for high-end electrostatic headphones?

Discussion Thinking of using industrial ear defenders with earbuds underneath for commuting, is this realistic?

I’ve been struggling with noise levels on my daily train commute—standard noise-cancelling headphones don’t fully block out the noise, and my ears often end up fatigued. Recently saw industrial-grade ear defenders, which apparently offer way better noise reduction ratings. My plan is to wear comfortable earbuds underneath them for audio. I’m aware they look a bit bulky, but if they genuinely reduce noise significantly better than consumer-grade ANC headphones, I honestly don’t mind. Has anyone tried something like this in practice? Specifically im travelling on the London Northern Line

Discussion Thank you Sennheiser!

I was one of the many disappointed cancelled Bestbuy orders for a HD 800 S back in February.

Sennheiser has a customer for life with their very generous offer to price match the Bestbuy and offer what I consider an end game headphone.

Thanks again!

Didn't get there in time for the original HD 800 S deal, but I managed to cop these, the HD 820. Let's see how they are.

When the original order got cancelled, I went out and bought the Edition XS. Which ones do I keep?

Curious on the synergy between this amp and HP combo as I’m about to pull the trigger on the RAALs. Also running Chord Hugo2 out of MBPro Tidal for reference. Love my Senn HD800s but need more meat on the bone.. so to speak. Heard the Immanis at NYC CanJam but not with the Envy. Can it drive them? Input and feedback welcome!!

Discussion Have you found your preferred sound signature ?

I saw this in another sub & thought I’d post here. How long did it take you to find your preferred sound signature & what iem/ headphone are you mostly using atm.

For me it took me a couple years but now I prefer a Neutral/ bright signature, controlled bass, flat mids but with an upper mids boost & very detailed, sparkly treble with some air but not to the point where it’s piercing or too sharp.

I used to think that I liked a v shape sound until I realised I missed a lot of instrumental detail & vocal forwardness for the sake of bass & treble so personally I can’t go back to a v shaped sound.
