NEW PICA MEGA THREAD
Again please do not make “Is this gun legal post”
There are a lot of people in this sub giving good information but few I’ve seen giving wrong information. For all questions regarding PICA (AWB) and all the laws regarding it; please see the ISP website before asking questions in the sub. All information is available there.
All registration information is on the ISP website There will be a affidavit form released in October for those of you who are concerned with registration. Registration period is 10/01/23 - 1/01/24.
Those of us in the sub who are active will post lawsuit updates when they become available, you can also follow Freedom’s Steel on YouTube for updates. It’s unlikely this law will be struck down before January, we are all hopeful but be prepared to act accordingly if it is not.
Legal options are: •Sell all AWB guns to an FFL •Store all AWB guns out of state, Illinois has no legal authority over them then. •Register all AWB guns with the state when the registration becomes available. •Destroy all your AWB guns.
The below list has a flow chart at the end to determine if a gun is legal or not.

I'm interested in handling one, or more, of these pistols at a gun store before ordering mine; does anyone know of a place in the state that has any in stock?

I’m struggling to find laws governing where I can build a range. A couple buddies and I are wanting to acquire a few acres to build a range on. Rifle/pistol range, tannerite use, shoot house and a “clubhouse” construction is what we’re wanting. How far away and from what (example: 1000’ from a home). Include sources if you have them, please.

Hi all, trying to sell a pistol to an out of state buyer. Ive done this before via a FFl. Shipping was like really expensive as the FFL insisited they had to do it 2nd day air. Cost like $200 to Florida.
Question, is there an alternative legal method to do this? Can i ship to the person's FFL myself and use a cheaper shipping service?
Any advise is welcome. Thank you.

Needless to say, went to the Hammond Cabela’s out of naïvety, hoping to procure a heritage rough rider, and learned about the meltdown law. Sooooo any recommendations of a cheapo plunker in the same price range that would survive a volcano apparently??

I've been eyeballing one of the Diamondback SDR revolvers and I pretty much talked myself into buying one. Unfortunately, every place that I've found them for a decent price online will not sell to Illinois. Is there something in PICA that forbids this particular revolver, or is it something else?
I've got emails out to the online dealers asking about it, but I've not had any replies yet.
Is there anyone else in NE IL or NW IN (say within a two hour drive of ISRA in Bonfield) that's into homemade firearms and would want to shoot a USPSA style makers match?
I'm looking for at least 10 people that would be interested so that I can set up an event for later this year or early next year.
Looking for one of these, anyone know if any shops have one? Preferably in the North half of the state.
I know there is the CMMG and Sig Regulator in stock at shops, but I want to be able to straight swap AR-15 uppers and this seems to be the only ranch rifle that can do it.
Update: purchased on gunbroker, waiting on shipping and transfer.

Okay, so due to medical bills, I had to sell some of my collection off, I think in total I got around $800. Now this happened this year, so I don't have to worry about it til next tax season. I kept the receipts. Its just now I'm being paranoid because I have been getting screwed on my taxes for the past two years. So just trying to make sure I got everything in order.
Do I just attack the receipts of sale to my tax forms when I hand them over to my accountant? Or because I lost money when I sold them, I don't have to worry about it?
I know this seems weird, but this is the only time since I started my collection that I had to sell some stuff to help with bills. And I just don't want to take any chances.

I'm looking to purchase a parts kit or an entire HK G3 or HK91 clone, and I'm very frustrated with PICA. I'm not taking any chances with the ISP or ATF, and I want to do everything as legally as possible, which is why I'm going to put in a fixed 10-round magazine. The one issue I have is whether a fixed magazine nullifies the other assault rifle requirements or not, because the wording isn't entirely clear. https://isp.illinois.gov/StaticFiles/docs/Home/AssaultWeapons/PICA%20Identification%20Guide.pdf
I have 3 basic questions:
I've heard of people buying fixed-magazine AR-15s in Illinois, so I'm assuming the "No clones of banned guns" doesn't apply when the magazine becomes fixed. Is that correct?
Can I build it myself? I'll probably have a gunsmith install a fixed magazine kit (or even weld it if it comes to that), but I don't know about the rest of the gun.
If I can't build it, are there any shops that sell fixed-magazine HK G3s? Probably not, but it's worth asking.
Thanks.

With all of this PICA laws I am still trying to understand what is and isn't legal. Has anyone looked into the GForce 12Hammer? Is it PICA compliant? Thanks for your help!

I am trying to figure out my first CCW but I am unsure of what to go with. I like the 3.5 Springfield Armory Prodigy DS 1911(2011) but I also like the Commander Platypus 4.25 because it can take Glock mags. The only thing I don't like about the Platypus is the 20+ week wait for it. Has anyone carried or shot both? I wanna place an order soon. Any opinions and comments are greatly appreciated.

Posting for some friends. ISRA is hosting a women’s shooting event. Taught by female instructors. Great for getting that special someone started into guns in a safe and friendly environment.
I teach out at ISRA, and hear nothing but great things about this event from the women who have been through this.
Fellas, do something nice for the special ladies in your life. Wives, daughters, girlfriends, etc.

Hey folks,
Waiting for my interview call and one of the questions I was unable to find a clear answer for in the materials,
“Are sporting clays, trap or skeet fees included in dues?”
One slide states that you “pay for clays thrown” and Im aware you must bring your own clays to shoot. Just wondering if the refered to fees regard the range time on the different skeet/trap ranges or if the fees are covered by dues
Thanks

I'm trying to figure out if the Mossberg 590 RM Pump Action Shotgun with pistol grip is legal or not under PICA. I think so but not 100% sure cuz it can be 10 rounds for long guns but because it's "tactical" and like an AR it may not be...just curious cuz I'm fairly new to this and reading PICA is like trying to translate a foreign language lol.

I bought an AR15 with a fixed mag from an FFL in Illinois whose legal team deemed that with either that system or a Kali Key that they are still legal to purchase. So I bought one but man is it a pain in the ass to use.
The Quick Pin System allows you to push a button to separate the upper and lower which makes it to where you can still use real 10 round mags and once the upper and lower are recombined it still counts as a fixed magazine in states like California because the magazine can not be removed without disassembling the weapon.
I asked both Cross Armory and the FFL I purchased the weapon from but neither of them could give me answers. Is anyone familiar enough with the insanity of PICAs confusing wording to know if a system like this would be legal to use in Illinois? I'd really love to not have to load my gun from the ejection port every time I use it. It loves to jam and feels harsh on the weapons internals.
Thanks for any help at all. I know these posts love to get downvoted but I'm just trying my best to use my AR to it's full potential while still obeying our bullshit laws.
