I was disappointed in Bill Murray that he didn't try to gently and perhaps comedically talk to Joe about Joe's alignment with the dark side. I know it's not fair of me to expect Bill to assert a fatherly hand. But if anybody could do it, it would be Bill. And Rogan clearly admires Bill so much I think he may have listened and taken it to heart. It seemed like in the beginning Bill was trying to say something and perhaps planning to but then lost the nerve? I guess I'm one of those delusional people that thinks Murray is more like his characters than he really is. It's just that with the terrifying things going on lately, I was hoping some of these beloved people would lead some kind of push back with their amazing ability to reach large audiences. I hope we're not at the stage yet in our coup where guns are being pointed at anyone speaking on camera...Bill did seem unnerved at times.

I love the JR show but talks out his ass sometimes. On this very episode he tried to bond with Bill about his fond memories of his time in San Francisco during the hippie years. He was born in Aug 1967. The peak of Haight Ashbury times was past before he even turned 2. There’s no way he has memories of his hippie years in San Fran with his parents.

Oh, Hungary did. The very first day the new parliament had session, a fidesz politician made political theater by placing a stop sign for agricultural vehicles signaling that from that point on it will again be possible to block roads with tractors.
That was in 2010 and shortly after they declared the parliament and its vicinity to be sensitive to national security. Meaning you can ask to protest and the police will likely refuse if the party tells them they're not welcome.
In the last 15 years it was not only impossible to protest Xinor Erdigan, plainnclothes Turkish and Chinese cops actually got away with briyralizing people (you may recall trumpnalsovallowed wrdogan to beat up Americans ).
The current situation is you can either protest where nobody can see youvor risk being catalogued in a massive violation of gdpr.

Learned recently Herbert had a pretty nuanced view of power.
Most people just say power corrupts and leave it at that.
Herbert made a point to say power absolutely corrupts those that seek it.
I think that's in part because the greedier you are, the more you will be willing to sacrifice morals and ethics.
Power isn't inherently dangerous or corrupting but rather amplifies what is in the heart of the wielder.
If people with dirty little heart's get power we're all in trouble...oh wait...

They claim Reddit is 90% bots on that sub. I don’t think that’s true, or even close as I know Reddit has some protections in place. For example, 2 upvotes from the same IP using different accounts gets tor a temp ban. Human interaction is their core product.
But if you read that sub, it really reads like it’s against American values and the repeat a lot of Russian talking points. It’s scary. It’s like the radical Americans are being groomed to hate what America has become.
Like you said, they want too round up Americans that disagree with Trump? Round up? Seriously?
They call Zelenskyy a dictator? And a bad leader? His people love him and he’s done a great job up until now. You can’t have free and fair elections on a battlefield, he’s obviously right to delay elections. Plus a leadership change in wartime gives the enemy a HUGE advantage.
They say Zelenskyy needs to just let Russia keep everything they stole? Why? Because that’ll be the end of it? Putin won’t be back in a year to take more?
They say Russia isn’t a threat to the US? Ummm…they’ve been our biggest enemy for half a century!? Does anymore remember that?
They say Elon is doing a great job firing thousands of top performers in government roles while he can’t even show his receipts for his cuts? They accept that all of those jobs are wasteful because of an anecdote about a wasteful job.
They cheer 19 year old kids with the maturity to call themselves “Big Balls” with access to our personal information and the power to target a lifelong government employee for firing?
They cheer on when the US President “trolls” other countries? When Elon trolls the citizens with a Rick Roll while he takes a literal CHAINSAW to the federal workforce? And now the US President is a laughing stock and it used to be the most respected Office in the world?
Every isolated “immigrant did crime” news story gets posted there as political news. Yet they ignore every “Republican Official or Pastor caught with CSAM” material.
They cheer the demise of our system of checks and balances?
They cheer billionaires and unqualified people cabinet positions? Like…they want on oligarchy??? That has never been a popular American belief.
The only things that seem American are when they cheer on things like a factory being built here, which we can all agree is a good thing. But if you go in the comments the discussion will be about how great Trump is, how libs are evil, and not any real discourse about the factory.
I could go on and on…the point is, it really seems like that sub is heavily influenced by Russia. I’m not saying it’s bots, but something is going on.

It wasn’t like a gag for laughs, or extremely obvious to those not paying attention, that’s what made it dangerous. It was a manipulated video and his base fell for it, calling for Acosta’s job, threatening him etc. This seems like peanuts in comparison to today’s actions and not worth even mentioning now, but the entire time and all the years I had been bringing it up I was told “both sides do this” or some adjacent excuse. In fact the funding freeze lawsuits had a deadline set last week that would have allowed a judge to put the administration in contempt but Roberts stepped in to put an administrative stay on the injunction, effectively allowing them to violate the constitution indefinitely.

It's easy to try to make a light hearted joke or quip about this, but there is absolutely nothing funny here. This is one of the most treasonous and unconstitutional comments ever made by a sitting US president.

I’ve been talking to anyone who will listen. This is a dictatorship. We should all be protesting every chance we get, we should be calling our state reps every chance we get.

Protesting is allowed in public space. College campuses are public space. As long as no one enters the buildings, it's all legal. Protested by the First Amendment.

I saw somebody on a recent post say Trump isn’t a fascist and made the case that he was extremely pro 1A. The irony.

He’s already bared certain press from attending white house conferences. He’s just setting up a system to not allow anyone to fight back or be informed on anything

There we go. For all those who've been very precious and careful with their definitions. Not wanting to prematurely use certain words lest they lose their meaning. We can now proceed. No matter how many times I say that Jane has an apple, the word apple retains it's meaning. Jane really does have an apple. Just like Mark really does have a bicycle and Donny really is an authoritarian.

The dude hires sex offenders, pardons insurrectionists, imports human traffickers, then threatens kids for excercising their rights....
Yep, we're here now, I guess. I can't wait to hear about how this is Biden's fault.

I can't wait to see the right wing spin on this one. In their propaganda, they're the defenders of the Constitution.
Until they lose an election, of course. Then they storm the Capitol in defiance of the Constitution they claim to hold so dear.
