I'm on the "games can be fun even if they're easy" side of things, and I expect to enjoy Wilds;
But man this is a terrible argument to make to people concerned the lack of difficulty will make the game boring.
It basically comes across as:
"Don't worry that you might've paid 70 bucks for a game that you don't find engaging, BECAUSE if you wait a year you might have the opportunity to pay ANOTHER 40 BUCKS for content you'll actually enjoy!"
Yeah, or Capcom could've given some challenging content to satisfy these players (most of their dedicated base) in the base game rather than having them spend 110 dollars and waiting a year to have something they find worthwhile
A year is a bit optimistic. Realistically, I think we won't hear anything new about G-rank expansion until summer 2026 and Capcom may try to publish it before their 2026 fiscal year ends (at March of 2027).
Normally Capcom has these hard quests for veterans as high rank event quests... We had Behemoth, and arch tempered elder dragons in base world that have nothing to be jealous of master rank difficulty
Meanwhile the currency of my country sinks lower and lower, and we are staring into recession. I don't want to pay 104 AUD for the base game and then another 65 dollars+ whenever that DLC comes out, that is assuming the DLC isn't priced as a full price game. In fact I will go as far to say that I probably won't be spending that money in this economy if this is the state of the game. I would probably rather by the 20+ indie games and get more out of that.
Honestly, the most fun I ever had with the series was MH4U which never had a base game release in the West.
Unless you're getting it specifically to co-op with friends I don't think you'll miss out on much if you just wait for the expansion. You'll have more content right off the bat, probably some improvements to weapons and other mechanics, plus it'll cost you less overall.
I wanted to get it to play with friends but can’t recommend them getting it with how convoluted the coop is. Thought they would fix that problem from worlds
Yeah, it's very strange. Pretty sure they did fix it in Rise/Sunbreak so no idea why they've gone back to something more like the World system.
Apparently it does automatically invite everyone back into one party once the cutscene is over, but that's a pretty lazy fix compared to just changing how it works.
It's usually not that bad, but around the time of a new game's release, it can do no wrong.
All flaws are ignored and concerns are brushed aside.
And then a few months later, when the game isn't as fresh, the opposite happens.
By the next year, conversation tends to mellow out into a middle-ground
Anyways. I hope you will give the game a shot at some point and not let a bunch of babies on reddit convince you not to, since it is shaping up to be a great game. That said, I completely understand getting turned off a game by its community, especially in a multiplayer-focused franchise.
(Though, I will say the in-game community is nice, friendly and ALWAYS better than the MH community on other sites)
I bought wilds as a first time MH player and the game has been easy so far but I bought it because I like boss fighting in games and was hoping for a hardcore souls-esque experience, which it somewhat provides in terms of boss fights but no difficulty so far , does the game have an actual end game or is it a Diablo 2 and dark souls thing where players grind for the sake of grinding because they love the game? I'm on the fence in terms of how I feel about Wilds, I really like the combat and it feels very slick but I was hoping for an actual end game, do these games typically have an end game made by the devs or is it just passionate players grinding for the sake of grinding? That's the one thing that annoyed me about fromsoft souls games is there was no actual end game beyond doing different runs.
Mind you, I'm in no way comparing souls games to MH games, I simply became interested in MH because of it's supposed difficulty, but it seems like that doesn't come until the expansions?
Tldr;does MH have actual end game or is it player made?
I can't speak to Wilds since I haven't reached endgame yet, and I'm not sure what you mean by "actual endgame" but I'll say what there usually is in MH games and what I've heard about Wilds:
Usually there's some buffed versions of monsters (called Tempered Monsters in World/Wilds) towards the end of high rank and after the final boss. They have drop rarer decorations, their parts can usually make really good armor and there's some sort of endgame weapon system tied to it in Wilds.
That said, it is sorta Diablo 3 or Borderlands where endgame is grinding to get the final upgrades to perfect your build
The other factor of endgame are the Title Updates which will add new monsters and sometimes new features, which usually shake up the meta and give the players new things to chase.
And they confirmed the first update will have stuff harder than anything in the base game
But yeah, the endgame is super grindy and pretty much about minmaxing your builds in my experience.
Hope that helped
Sorry but every games supreddit is 120% toxic and not a place to inform yourself about a new game of the series.... look up some videos and just test it.
Reddit is and will always be a toxic shithole not good for getting opinions
Its all entirely due to the fact that Monster Hunter was a cult series for like 10+ years in the west before blowing up overnight into one of the most popular series worldwide
And this extreme gain in popularity took place right as the series started moving in a newer direction.
So the community is now a gigaton moshpit of people with wildly different opinions and experience when it comes to monster hunter games
Thou art holier than I 🙄 if you wanted to see if you should buy the game. You should just watch some videos on YouTube. Not come into reddit judging people. Talking about parts of the game. You’ve never experienced.
Haven’t they already teased a free update in the spring with new monsters? We’re going to get seasonal updates through out the year that add stuff and probably add difficulty.
Yeah, or Capcom could've given some challenging content to satisfy these players (most of their dedicated base)
Are everyone forgetting that the game use a live service model and that we will have multiple new quest with various level of difficulty during the next year?
