Hey everyone!
My boyfriend and I are heading to the Algarve in mid-April and we’re SO excited! We’ll be renting a car from Faro Airport and keeping it for the week, so we’ve got the freedom to roam around and explore at our own pace. We’re pretty laid-back travelers — definitely into a mix of relaxing and discovering new places.
One thing we’re really looking forward to is a proper beach day — somewhere beautiful where we can just kick back, read, nap, maybe play some games, and soak up the sun. If you’ve got any favorite chill beach spots, we’d love to hear them!
We’re also huge fans of coastal walks, especially ones with epic views. We’re hoping to spend a couple of days walking along the cliffs and ocean, so if you know any scenic routes or hidden gems that are a bit less touristy but still stunning, we’re all ears.
We’ll definitely swing by Lagos, but we also want to explore more small towns with charm — think cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and that laid-back, local vibe. I’m a sucker for cute cafés, and my boyfriend’s more into traditional pubs, so places that have a bit of both are perfect for us.
Also, if you have any food recs — restaurants, cafés, pubs — especially places with a sea view, cozy atmosphere, or great local food, we’d really appreciate it.
And lastly, if there’s anything a bit different or off the beaten path you’d recommend — a fun day trip, cool local experience, or just something unexpected — we’d love to add it to our plans.
Thanks so much in advance for any tips or hidden gems — can’t wait to explore the Algarve! 🌞
Edit - We are staying in Portimao
