That follow-up barely counts for anything when it's used as an opportunity to humblebrag ("I'm a man on honor") and backtrack ("well ackshually Trump 2.0 is very different, other than that I was totally right, you know! ☝️🤓"). Nowadays I am finding it increasingly difficult to be forgiving of people who believe, trust, and worship Trump, especially after the decades of Trump proving himself to be an evil charlatan.
it's hard to really even credit him with "Trump is acting different this time around" no he's not, he wanted to do all this kind of shit the first time but there were adults in the room to stop him!!! WHERE ARE THEY ALL NOW?!?!?
I honestly didn't think Trump was stupid enough to put all those tariffs in place. I thought it was a bargaining tool and that he wouldn't really do it. Lots of people on the right and left never thought he would go this hard so I kinda get it.
I hate Trump just as much as everyone else, but I like to take these things at face value. He’s not implying “who could have seen it coming?” He admits he was wrong, simple as that.
Doesn’t matter that he does. He should be taken at face value. If he says things that look like he is planning to commit voter fraud, force a 3rd term, do stupid shit like tariffs. It should have been taken at face value, even if he genuinely never would have done it.
We shouldn’t be voting for people like that, hard stop. They shouldn’t even be allowed in politics.
If you can’t take them at face value, they can’t be trusted, which means he shouldn’t be in the goddamn seat he is in right now.
I’m all for nuance but I’m not a goddamn mind reader. I either have to trust what he says or not. It is pretty pointless and in fact stupid to try and decipher if someone in politics is lying about specific topics. A politician you can’t trust, is not someone who should be in power, simple as that.
And I know, I know, that eliminates about 90% of them if were being generous. Well thats the problem isn’t it?
They twist themselves into knots trying to believe he's a business genius and not the incompetent, Semi-literate, narcissistic conman who can't even describe what a tariff is 9 years later or tell you what a trade deficit is.
What the fuck do they see when I see him ramble nonsense with a ridiculous combover and his face painted orange?
Fuck knows, I think he is the result of many more problems. As much as he is a major issue, we should focus on the fact that he made it all the way there to begin with.
I don’t see how you can say that, considering that Trump said that this is exactly what he was going to do during his re-election campaign. GP chose to ignore/dismiss Trump’s actual campaign promises, and call anyone who took Trump at his word, “fairly stupid liberals.” I mean, talk about a disingenuous argument on his part…
Trump said a million different insane things. it was overwhelming so people grabbed onto the 5-6 things they cared the most about, either because they wanted or feared them.
Yeah Trump always sticks to his campaign promises/rhetoric . That’s why Hillary Clinton is sitting in a jail cell and Mexico paid for our border wall that was finished in 2017. And Russia and Ukraine had a ceasefire on Trump’s first day this term and that war is now over.
Well, if those “major” unfulfilled promises are the things you want to judge Trump’s reliability on, be my guest. BTW, many of those items he missed on his first go-around he’s ticking off right now.
I’m talking about the fact that he didn’t throw Hillary Clinton in jail, nor did he get Mexico to pay for the wall, which were the two examples that the other poster used to bolster their argument that Trump doesn’t do what he says he going to do.
He doesn't always lie. He said he was going to bring people together. I really didn't think he would do it, but damn, he's actually living up to his promise.
Your defense is that people should be excused for supporting him and talking shit about those who took his threats seriously, because he didn't do some of them (yet)? That's more of a reason to not support him. He's plainly a liar and a conman, and because he's unpredictable, it makes sense to oppose all of his shit because who knows what whack-a-mole he's playing with his brain cells and what he'll decide to do on a fucking whim. All of his threats are credible because he's a lying rule-breaking sack of shit.
Trump 2.0 IS very different. Even myself, who predicted a trump driven recession and has been preparing for it for a few months, believed that Trump couldn't fuck it up in 6 months. The first term he tested the waters, this term he is full blown out of control.
100% correct. There were adults in the room that tried keeping him under control. Now he has nothing but sycophants catering to his every whim and playing backup music while Nero watched Rome burn.
So how would that affect someone who is making predictions about what Trump will do? If he is acting differently, then someone making predictions based on his previous behavior CAN HARDLY BE BLAMED for expecting something different from what we are seeing? Right?
So it's a little excuse, see? Glad we could see eye to eye on this. Now excuse me, I'm going to go vomit out of my butthole
Whoops guys, looks like the sun is still here. I'll admit it. Gosh this new sun is nothing like the sun I knew and loved, it would be gone by now. I'm still such a good sun analyst, probably an even better one because I admit my faults. But this is a mistake anyone who follows the sun could make. Please like and subscribe!
This is so fuckin stupid man. Like, this is a clear case of someone casually rounding the edges off of mistake, AND it doesn't even matter because who tf is this guy and who tf are we. Just more of the same stupid shit. An idiot imposed tariffs, another idiot didn't believe he would and is trying to sound like it's an understandable mistake, and here we are, a bunch of other idiots arguing about it. We should be making sweet love beneath an oak tree, forgetting Trump and Twitter exist.
You’ll find only criticism of the sun exploding being a wild statement and generally being against smarmy condescension. Maybe reading is hard for you , maybe you need glasses and maybe you don’t know what words mean but in no part of my two posts will you find anything related to what you typed out .
The only difference between Trump the first time around and this time is the first time around, he truly believed he had a mandate. He was humiliated when he found out he didn't. Because he has a very long history as a bully, his current behavior shouldn't surprise anyone - it's typical for bullies to double down and start bulldozing after they've been called out publicly. He is just bulldozing forward policies he talked about last time, but didn't have the mandate to implement through Congressional actions last go around.
How else could you read it? He's saying, 'I was wrong because of x' And the implication is that x is out of his control. So clearly he is saying he was wrong because of something he could not control, e.g., it is not his fault.
He admits he is wrong, but he does not admit that he is stupid, as he should. If one calls another “fairly stupid” for insinuating something would happen, one must have an extreme level of confidence that their understanding is correct. The confidence required to predict something will happen is less than the confidence required to predict it won’t and to call those who say it will “stupid.” Therefore, he should increase the severity of his stupidity accusations, but upon himself, where he admits he’s “stupid” or “very stupid”. His lack of admitting that he’s stupid is a form of backtracking his logic.
In the spirits of taking things at face value, I believe “Trump 2.0 is different” is the who could’ve seen it coming implication. He’s admitting to being wrong and he’s saying the reason he was wrong is bc he was basing his opinion on the Trump he thought he knew. But Trump 2.0 is different. A change he obviously did not see coming or he wouldn’t have held such an incorrect belief.
It's not fair because he was vindictive as hell the first time around. Trump isn't different, they're just finally seeing a very small amount of what he's actually doing and realizing it's crazy.
It's not fair though, is it? Trump's main political stance has always been vengeance and punishment of people he doesn't like. That's like one of the main reasons some people love him to the point of religious fervour.
They’ve completely misunderstood Trump. Trump is a compulsive liar but not when he speaks about what he’s going to do, with that he’s sincere. He hasn’t changed since last time, he’d have done all of this last time but he had people reining him in, now he has people egging him on, that’s the change, not Trump.
I'm fair enough to admit that I didn't really believe he'd go as far as he has. I also thought he'd be reigned in by congress and the senate if he did.
The latter has yet to be proven wrong yet, but I'll be the first to admit I'm not holding my breath. Admittedly we only need a handful of GOP reps and senators to undo this entirely. I just don't know if enough of them have the guts to deliberately work against him.

Admitting he was wrong counts for something, though.
