Daily Question Question Thread - March 31, 2025

Welcome to the Daily Question thread at r/churning !

This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.

* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.

* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads

* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.

This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

I need someone's help. I recently applied for the cap1 venture reward cc ( the 95$ AF) and hit the signup bonus amount so ill be getting the SUB. The card is not even month old and I have more payments so I want to apply for the Venture X (395 AF) and downgrade my venture rewards to a 0 AF card with Cap1 so I can get the other SUB from venture X. Will I be capable of doing that where I apply for the Venture X and downgrade after I get approved because I need to make the payments within 2 weeks. And if I get approved, will I be able to use the virtual CC before the physical card arrives because I need to buy some flight tickets through 3rd part app( like expedia) . Thanks!

Is there any citi card that is easy to get? Got rejected for citi AA last week

2

u/GunneRy0205 6d ago

Anyone know when will the Hilton gif card 'eight week' period be up? (https://www.buyhiltongiftcards.com/)

Just want to add to my calendar to check back.

4

u/lenin1991 HOT, DOG 6d ago

If and when they return, I'm not expecting Amex credits to work on them any more.

2

u/GunneRy0205 6d ago

Why do you say that?

3

u/lenin1991 HOT, DOG 5d ago

It's just a guess. It cannot take 5+ months to source cheap plastic gift cards; if they wanted to restore supply, they could do it in a week.

2

u/GunneRy0205 5d ago

Fair enough. Gonna have to find another way to burn these credits, then.

Any suggestions....

It’s been saying that for a while, if you follow around here regularly or some blogs, I’m sure it will be big news when they come back. Otherwise just do a weekly check.

Edit: typos

Usually I wouldn't wait until the last minute like this, but I had a new Amex card that arrived at my house tonight. How late can I typically make a transaction so that it posts as tonight (March 31) instead of tomorrow (April 1)? Or does it vary depending on the vendor? I'm trying to use up a Q1 Hilton credit.

3

u/eminem30982 MMM, BBQ 6d ago

I saw this too late to give you a timely response to your question (not that I had a definitive answer anyway) but I usually tell people in these situations to just give it a shot and at worst, it uses the next period's credit.

2

u/McSpiffin 6d ago

it's merchant dependent

4

u/JManUWaterloo 6d ago

23:59 EST for sure.

I’ve done 23:40 EST and it credited fine for the offer period.

YMMV if later

3

u/DimaLyu 6d ago

That's merchant depended from what I understand. Learned early that if I make a Grubhub order on the last day of the month it does not post on that date to make use of the Gold dining credit. There's likely more merchants like that.

1

u/JManUWaterloo 6d ago

I believe in the case of Grubhub, it’s because it uses a Pre-Auth and Capture model, so when you see the first charge it’s just a Pre-Auth, but the Capture (including tips) is later in time, which results in the credit not triggering for the month intended

1

u/terpdeterp EWR, JFK 6d ago

Thanks for the DP! Fingers crossed that it works.

Anybody know if the Alaska airlines card will have flights to Japan since the merger with Hawaiian? Would be a rad companion fare location

3

u/garettg SEA | PAE 6d ago

No one knows exactly what the future holds, but as of now Alaska companion fare can only be used on Alaska metal, so if it’s a Hawaiian flight, it won’t work. We have already seen a reduction in the Alaska flights to Hawaii in favor of Hawaiian flights so not sure I’d hold my breath about the AS CP working on something to Japan.

1

u/Thin-Course-4054 6d ago

Okay thats what I thought. I'm still crossing my fingers though lol.

Really? I swear I used it for my Mexico trip last year. I'll double check when I get home.

You're right, I just checked the terms again. No language limiting it to domestic flights.

u/Berry-Momma 6d ago

P2 applied for CSP 2 years ago but didn't meet spend requirements for SUB. Downgraded it to a CFU after year one. I am aware of the 4 year rule but I believe that's for receiving SUB, not getting approved. If they apply again today, would they be eligible for elevated CSP SUB?

2

u/Anxious_Day_1654 6d ago

Yes. Eligible for SUB in this scenario. Remember people cancel/convert to reapply sapphire for the SUB!?

Any recent DPs on what counts as 4x for amex business gold? Saw a thread from a month ago that a bunch of merchants that used to code as software no longer do.

For example, openai. Just did a charge and it lists it as computer supplies. Prior dp's suggested it would be software, 4x

1

u/creditcardzquestions 6d ago

Ah, thank you! Does the merchant coding change after the statement posts?

-1

u/Sufficient_Ticket_86 6d ago

best credit card to fly from SFO to Japan? Rejected from Alaska for some reason.

2

u/Pereise1 6d ago

Whatever gets you transferable points to Virgin Atlantic would be good. Elevated CSP bonus + transfer bonus to Virgin might be close to enough for 2 rt tickets in Y.

1

u/Sufficient_Ticket_86 5d ago

is that a special promo currently? Thank you!

2

u/Pereise1 5d ago

It's not a special promo right now but it comes up often so it's worth keeping an eye out. The Elevated CSP bonus is available in branch right now and supposedly available through online referral within the next week.

2

u/Dhamedd 6d ago

I took the cheapest flight when I went last year and i flew with United, so the United CCs with the elevated offers will be your best bet, but posting in the weekly Wednesday thread will get you a better answer

2

u/ATF0PenUp 5d ago

Where did you fly out of and what was the total cost RT? Would you do the cheapest flight again?

Double-checking regarding Chase's refund upon cancelation policy (personal card):

If my AF for the second year posted on Mar 01 and the statement closing date was Mar 20 then I have 30 days from the latter (until April 19) to get the full refund. Is my understanding correct?

(I know I can downgrade to a freedom, but I would rather cancel)

1

u/garettg SEA | PAE 6d ago

30 days or one billing cycle from March 20, whichever is less.

5

u/MyBFMadeMeSignUp 6d ago

does the chase business reconsideration line no longer a thing? I just called and got an automated system that didn't give me an option to speak to anyone.

EDIT: pressing 0 connected me to agent.

1

u/Dhamedd 6d ago

I got passed around 4 times, but the last person just asked me to verify application info and approved me. Seemed odd

2

u/MyBFMadeMeSignUp 6d ago

Yea same here. It does not take you directly to recon. Was reconnected like 3 times before I got someone who approved

0

u/commentsection23 6d ago

P2 applied for Barclay's AAdvantage Aviator Red, and after a week, he received a letter in the mail requesting more information. Has the hard inquiry already hit the 5/24? He's taking a trip in about 10 days and would like to take a new card with him (cutting it close to receive the card). We would preferably try for Barclay's Hawaaian card since that will disappear soon, but I'm not sure if it's likely to decline since it's also Barclay's.

P2 has had an 800+ credit score, so I'm not really sure why he didn't get immediately approved. Last card opened was 6 months ago.

If p2 applies for a card that is not Barclay's, will they see the original AAdvantage Aviator request from last week and possibly reject the application?

3

u/garettg SEA | PAE 6d ago

5/24 is not number of HPs, its number of accounts on the credit report. If not approved, it's not counting. Why not call and see if recon will approve the app with more info.

1

u/commentsection23 6d ago

Thanks for the info on hard pulls. Seems common sense, but I didn't think of it 😎 I just read something the other day that said not to call. The topic was if a business account was being reviewed, but it seemed like some of the employees who answer the phone are harsh reviewers and may decline you without going through the proper channels. I told him to just send in the info through the mail like they requested. If he doesn't get approved after that, we may call.

2

u/jtevy 6d ago

There’s no harm in calling here. If you are trying to speed things up and get the card before heading off on a trip, at this point calling is likely your best bet

1

u/floatingriverboat 6d ago

I'm 1/24 and locked out of the new CSP bonus. I'm mainly focused on cash back vs UR because I need the cash. Just scored the US Bank triple cash biz plus biz checking account bonuses ($750+$900) and wanted to see what folks think about the US Bank Leverage card next - seems to be the highest cash back rn ($750). Thoughts? I saw the Cap venture X but I don't need a travel card and I have no idea how their ecosystem works.

1

u/VegetableActivity703 6d ago

You could also get an Ink and get the SUB just by funding $3k each in US Bank Biz checking/savings.

3

u/Unusual_Extent2505 6d ago

Be careful about CC funding with Chase cards, earlier in the week someone had posted about their experience where they were told by Chase that this is the final time they were getting to do the CC funding with a Chase card.

And with Chase its better to be conservative than being in the doghouse

1

u/jetcruise0707 6d ago

Does this code as a cash advance?

1

u/VegetableActivity703 6d ago

Nope! There was one weird DP on DoC recently but historically and in the comments on that post plenty of DPs confirm it codes as a purchase.

2

u/jtevy 6d ago

No issues getting another Triple Cash if you are interested in that bonus again- multiples are OK

1

u/floatingriverboat 5d ago

I was approved for a triple cash with a ridiculously low credit limit - 3k. It was a joke. Should I try for another? Any reason not to go for a Leverage card next to mix it up?

2

u/jtevy 5d ago

3k is low, I’d take that as a sign to pump the brakes. Though it would be wise while you’re 1/24 to aim for Venture X as C1 is known to be a pain after you get deeper into the churn

1

u/floatingriverboat 5d ago

Will venture x convert to cash back. I’m not interested in a new travel ecosystem outside of UR. I’m a low churner - I’ll just get a few cards a year

2

u/CzarofTenley 6d ago

What is the suggested wait time between first and second Triple Cash?

5

u/jtevy 6d ago

As soon as you’d like I suppose. Some people do them same day. If you have been approved with a high CL, chances are you will be approved for another

2

u/CzarofTenley 6d ago

Oh interesting, thank you! I'm just getting started with US Bank - I knew about multiples, but was not aware of that possible velocity.

2

u/spiritualplague 6d ago

UR is also cash.

1

u/floatingriverboat 5d ago

Any specific recommendations?

3

u/superdex75 6d ago

Should have gotten the leverage together with the triple cash on the same day. Would have saved you a HP.

1

u/floatingriverboat 6d ago

It’s not a hard pull if it’s a biz card? Or is that only chase

2

u/superdex75 6d ago

It is, but if you apply for multiple USB biz cards on the same day, the HPs are usually combined into 1.

1

u/floatingriverboat 6d ago

But none of the business cards count as a hard pull?

3

u/DesertActor 6d ago

No, they count as hard pulls. They just don’t count as new accounts towards 5/24 (well, most of them, anyway). Amex is the one issuer that generally doesn’t do hard pulls for existing customers. Others do for both personal and business.

1

u/kharin123 6d ago

How often do elevated offers come rolling back? Specifically looking at Amex Delta Business, which is expiring on Weds but is it likely to see it come back later this year.

(Trying to decide between the Delta Business or Ink Cash first. Will get the Ink cash after Delta Business regardless but have no confirmed delta flights need until Aug or Dec)

3

u/jtevy 6d ago

If you definitely want both- I’d grab the Delta biz first

Delta biz is elevated at the moment and will expire. While Ink Cash is not currently elevated and unfortunately no announcement of an elevated offer as of today

1

u/kharin123 6d ago

Yah I’d end up getting both this year prob. Yea it’s elevated right now but I dont have delta flights until Aug or even Dec so could wait a bit and extend that 1-year period of free luggage/15% discount, if I get rid of it after a year. Tho I also don’t have a need for chase points either but starting that train sooner than later seems smart too.

1

u/Original_Comfort6321 6d ago

Amex Delta Business is usually elevated ~2-3x a year. The current bonus is the first elevated offer so based on historic trends there ~should~ be another 1 or 2 this year.

1

u/yuchin 6d ago

Has anyone been able to reduce the cash advance limit on the barclays hawaiian biz cards?

1

u/Beduerus 6d ago

I have via call

1

u/TMonahan2424 6d ago

When bank churning for a checking account bonus, can I withdraw my money from the account after each direct deposit? I would prefer to continue using my primary checking account for paying bills, rent, etc by moving my money there after it's been direct deposited to the bonus account.

I've read the fine print on a lot of accounts and it doesn't mention that the funds deposited need to stay in the account, just that it needs to be in good standing at time of bonus.

4

u/CericRushmore DCA 6d ago

Normally just following the terms is good. Etrade has gone a bit wild and seems to be rejecting bonuses for transferring out immediately. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it as that seems to be an edge case.

4

u/Victor___Eremita 6d ago

When there's no requirement to hold a certain amount, I typically move most of the money out of the account. There should be no issues.

0

u/2025redit 6d ago

Currently LOL/24 for over a year until everything rolls off.

Issues have basically stopped giving me cards after churning >60 cards over the last decade

I want to get a handful of keeper cards including some Chase cards, Venture X, and Amex Gold

Then possibly continue churning a few cards a year

Any suggestions for ordering applications across the different issuers as recent accounts and inquiries roll off?

1

u/gt_ap 6d ago

Amex is generally pretty chill, unless you get hindered by the popup.

1

u/Agitated_Okra_9356 6d ago

Are there different factors at play for Amex personal vs business card SUBS?

I’ve been in pop up jail for like 2 years but I still get targeted for business SUBS?

1

u/butwhhyy 6d ago

I just got approved for delta bus gold after being in PUJ for 6 months. May be worth trying since you’re in PUJ

1

u/SibylTech 6d ago

Business tends to be more lenient for PUJ for some reason (at least in my experience). Maybe biz marketing department has more marketing budget.

Add on to that NLL offers and the lack of family language. Amex biz is easier to churn than personal if you have the spend.

1

u/Agitated_Okra_9356 4d ago

I have the spend but never gone for business. Always stuck with personal cards. I guess t some point I will make the jump.

3

u/lost_shadow_knight 6d ago

Yes. It's different per card, per offer, and even per application attempt

I got denied BofA Alaska Biz, failed recon, and wondering if there are any DP of paying down an existing balance and getting approved in the 30 day window of reapplication with not having credit pulled again.

I have opened 3 personal and 5 business cards in the past 12 months, so 8/12.  I have >$5k in a person checking account with BofA.  When I called recon, they had me answer some simple questions then resubmitted the application.  I was denied with reasons being “length since newest commercial account” and “ high utilization”.  I carry $5700 on a $6k limit CIU for the 0% interest.

Is there any chance if I pay this balance down then call in 3 weeks, that I get approved?  Or is 8/12 too high for their soft limit?

2

u/ATF0PenUp 5d ago

I was in a similar situation last year. They would not approve the biz version despite trying to recon almost weekly within the 30 days. I decided to settle and apply for the Alaska personal a few days before the 30 days were up and was auto approved with a relatively high CL and all bureaus frozen. They were able to approve me with the same HP from the original Alaska biz app

2

u/jtevy 6d ago

Do you have an existing deposit account with BOA?

1

u/Few_Department_4647 6d ago

Yes, personal checking balance is >$5k and I waited for the bank statement to close/post before applying.  The recon rep acknowledged my BofA checking account and made sure that was included during the recon.

2

u/jtevy 6d ago

I am in a damn near identical situation. I am going to pay off my Ink balance and call recon within the next couple weeks and come back with a hopefully positive DP

0

u/Few_Department_4647 6d ago

Any idea how long it takes for BofA to see a payment to Chase?

I can’t find any info online, and I need to make a very large payment on a different Ink soon.  Want to time it between payment posting and my new charge posting.

2

u/jtevy 6d ago

I don’t have much of a choice with my timeline so hoping just a few days. Ink is hitting a year since opening tomorrow, I’m paying it off and closing this week. I applied for the Alaska Biz last night so I’m looking to recon ~April 21, before I leave town and if necessary I’ll give it one last hoorah when I get back and before the application expires

2

u/sleepytill2 ORD 6d ago

As 1 DP, my approval has been contingent on not having an Alaska personal or business cards in the past 12 months. I was able to recon successfully as soon as I passed the 1 year mark, but recon didn’t budge prior to that.

1

u/moonsidian 6d ago

I've been amex jail for around 2 years now. Been seeing this offer in the app for the Aspire; would applying through here have any better chances of escaping jail? There is LL but I've never had this card before anyway.

1

u/HomerCrew 6d ago

Hilton and especially targeted offers tend to be less likely for PUJ. Though, I have got them. I've also found that applying direct through Hilton site instead of Amex also leans less likely for PUJ.

8

u/terpdeterp EWR, JFK 6d ago

One of the problems with PUJ as a term is that it implies a single, universal restriction. Your probability of getting pop-up will vary depending on which card you apply for and which links you use, along with many other factors that we're not certain of because the Amex pop-up algorithm is a black box.

So there's really no such thing as 'escaping jail' because there's no singular jail to speak of. Avoiding the pop-up for one of the Hilton cards doesn't necessarily imply that you'll also avoid the pop-up on the Amex charge cards or the Delta cards or the biz cards.

That being said, if the offer is appearing under "Amex Offers & Benefits", it's probably a targeted offer. When you click on the link, does the URL include the acronyms "POID" and "WOC" somewhere? If so, then you're probability of getting the pop-up should be much lower, although approval is never guaranteed.

u/dv042b 6d ago edited 6d ago

Are the new Chase United business cards better than the ink for sign up bonus purposes? 5k spend for 125k miles - $150 annual fee > 6k spend for $750 right?

Edit: didn't realize the SUB points come back as united points not UR points, thanks all for saving me some trouble

5

u/ZinCO17 6d ago

If you were likely to transfer the UR from the Ink to United anyway, then yes, the United Biz is certainly more attractive. But the flexibility of UR usually makes them more valuable than United miles are. You need to think about what you would do with them though.

1

u/dv042b 6d ago

Ah I didn't realize the United biz card points were for United flights only, was assuming I could do cashback or whatever.... probably worth it to just stick with an ink then

1

u/gt_ap 6d ago

Probably, if you consider United points to equal UR points.

-3

u/dv042b 6d ago

didn't realize the united card points came back as united points instead of Chase UR points

3

u/Few_Department_4647 6d ago

FM calculates the new United Business at a 1st year value of $1390.  CIP is $1135 and CIU is $1080.

0

u/dv042b 6d ago

FM? sorry not familiar with the acronym. Also thank you this is exactly what I was looking for, looks like I can eek out a little extra value from the United card

3

u/eanders 6d ago

Frequent Miler

2

u/Few_Department_4647 6d ago

Frequent Miler.

I don’t fly United (only 4 fights from my airport) so will stick to Chase UR points, but if you have a plan for United points this is a good value.

1

u/roygibiv101 6d ago

If I'm flying United and racking up miles for that reason, the UBiz is a great SUB right now, yes.

1

u/dv042b 6d ago

I don’t fly United super often but often enough, the SUB just seems very attractive in comparison to the other business cards rn

1

u/roygibiv101 6d ago

Yeah I agree. Wish I could get one but I’m 8/24

0

u/dv042b 6d ago

Didn’t realize the points don’t come back as UR, opted for the ink just for the complicity

1

u/nosekhacer 6d ago

Does Huntington Business Voice card report to personal bureaus? I'm going down the list of SUBs I can get on business mastercards

For Amex NLL, if I have it this quarter, is there a chance it disappears next quarter? Or increases/decreases?

Got 250k biz plat and 175k biz gold NLL on P1 (in app) but only 175k and 125k P2.

Thanks!

5

u/terpdeterp EWR, JFK 6d ago

chance it disappears next quarter?

Yes.

Or increases/decreases?

Yes.

The offer can always be pulled early. Some of them don't go by a quarterly basis. Depending on the type of offer, it seems to be YMMV when they start and end.

My recommendation is to save the raw offer URL somewhere. By raw URL, I'm referring to the one that includes the alphanumeric codes for the POID and WOC. Sometimes, this URL will still work even if you can no longer access the NLL offer from the app or on the website.

1

u/MBP0308 6d ago

That's a good idea. Thank you!

u/9kuss 6d ago edited 6d ago

Just got my Citi Strata Premier but theres no SUB tracker in the app. Is this like Chase where it takes a couple of days to show up?

Follow up question: citi reported to bureaus way faster than I expected putting me at 5/24 until tomorrow. (Lol)

I know Chase is very much not inquiry sensitive, but are they new account sensitive other than 5/24?

Basically, should I wait a couple weeks before going for elevated CSP or am I pretty much good to go April 2nd when the 100k offer goes live online?

My credit profile is pretty solid overall. Chase denied me United Biz last month, but the reasons should have nothing to do with personal underwriting.

1

u/ATF0PenUp 5d ago

citi reported to bureaus way faster than I expected

How soon did they report? Same day?

1

u/payyoutuesday COW, BOY 5d ago

I believe after the first statement closes, but the first statement period can be very short.

1

u/9kuss 5d ago

1 week

1

u/jtevy 6d ago

What were the reasons given for the United Biz denial last month?

1

u/9kuss 6d ago

Business credit usage is high (this one is strange because I don't put that much on my Inks), too many active business accounts (I have 2 inks), limited business credit experience (also strange because almost 2 years in Ink experience, though this was for a new business that's only a few months old)

I have a hunch I could be succesful at reconning it, but now that United Explorer Biz is 125k instead of 100k when I applied, AND that CSP is elevated, I'm actually happier not getting approved for it lol

1

u/terpdeterp EWR, JFK 6d ago

too many active business accounts (I have 2 inks)

I think this is the primary culprit. Based on the previous Ink survey, your approval odds for another Ink would have been at 50%. The numbers are probably similar for getting approved with the United biz.

How many Chase biz cards have you been approved for in the last 24 months? That's also another factor in approvals independent from number of opened business cards.

1

u/9kuss 6d ago

4 in the last 24 months, United biz would have been the 5th

But really at this point I just want to get the elevated CSP, I might try again for Chase biz in July when I'll be back under 5/24

1

u/terpdeterp EWR, JFK 6d ago

I just want to get the elevated CSP, I might try again for Chase biz in July when I'll be back under 5/24

That sounds like a good plan. It's also likely we'll get an elevated Ink offer by summer or fall based on historical trends. From looking at this chart on USCreditCardGuide, I'm guessing we'll get an elevated SUB by September.

Anyone ever have a large purchase fall off their Amex recent transactions? It was there and pending for several days but now it’s gone

u/superdex75 6d ago

It will reappear, if it transitions from pending to posted, it often disappears for a short time.

u/Mindless-Science-999 6d ago

Actually think it might be because I scheduled delivery ~3 weeks out. Merchant says they won’t charge until item ships. That’s on me. Thanks though

850+ credit score. Suppose I applied and was instantly approved for an Ink card on Jan 20, and then I applied and was instantly approved for a Chase United Business card on March 22. Suppose I want another one of the exact same Ink card for an upcoming purchase that I must make by April 17th, which would require applying for that Ink card at least a week prior (if requesting expedited delivery) or more (if avoiding that phone call). That would mean applying around April 10th, give or take, which is only 19 days after the Chase United Business app/approval.

Is that a bad idea? I've heard it's best to wait at least a month between each (from the people suggesting rapid-fire Ink SUBs), but maybe I can get away with it once... what's the worst that happens? Whether I skip the whole idea or I try but get denied, I'm in the same position either way of missing my April 17th transaction, so I don't really care unless there could be other repurcussions.

2

u/jtevy 6d ago

Go for it. Don’t make it a habit and keep your average time between applications 3-4 months with Chase. Probably means no Chase applications for another 6 months after this. This ‘once’ shouldn’t be a problem

1

u/HElGHTS 6d ago

Well it wouldn't be "once" so much as "twice" (the first Ink to the United represents the first less-than-average interval, and then the United to the second Ink will represent the second). So if it's pretty safe to have 2 less-than-average intervals followed by a cooldown, that would be helpful.

3

u/Original_Comfort6321 6d ago

Low chance of approval and potentially inviting more eyes to your account... not sure why you would do that. "Is that a bad idea", you know what is recommended so apply at your own risk

1

u/HElGHTS 6d ago

Fair enough. My next big transaction after that would require having the card around May 9 so I'd apply around April 28. This is more than 1 month since opening the United. Would this be considered significantly less risk than my earlier question which involved less than a month between?

1

u/mets2016 6d ago

You can have Chase Ink cards expedited to you (1-2 business days to arrive), so you can push back your application date a few days if you need the card by May 9th

1

u/HElGHTS 6d ago

If it'll be >31 days already, does waiting a few more days (which then requires expediting -- not a big deal of course) actually matter?

1

u/brute_cage 6d ago

be the DP and report back how it goes!

2

u/Original_Comfort6321 6d ago

Yes- but just remember its 30/31 days MINIMUM but ideally you'd like 90 days in between.. remember this is a marathon, not a sprint

Probably a dumb question but I'm having a shockingly hard time finding the answer online:

Does anyone know if Costco charges any sort of premium if you buy gold with a credit card? I'm planning to pick up and hold a couple ounces to diversify my investments and figure it's an easy chance to hit MS for an Amex Plat, even if I can't get it under $20k spend. But I've never even been to a Costco so I'm not super sure how they handle it.

4

u/churnchurnbaby AAA, BAT 6d ago

In store - Costco only accepts visa (so your plans for AMEX MSR isn’t going to work)

Online - you can use visa or MasterCard

2

u/Cease_Cows_ 6d ago

Awesome thanks for the info - The Amex thing would have sucked so I'm glad I asked!

1

u/EggIndividual6333 6d ago

Is there a way to get the amex 10k bonus for adding a AU without it showing up on someone's credit report?

1

u/Original_Comfort6321 6d ago

No. I have yet to see a DP otherwise. Not worth adding to 5/24 count in most case

2

u/terpdeterp EWR, JFK 6d ago

Just to expand on this, if you get denied for a Chase card because AUs bring you to 5/24 or over, it's still possible to get the card by reconning. It's also possible to manually remove AUs from your credit card reports after you're no longer an AU.

Can anyone let me know if the 1 in 5 day rule for Amex includes weekends? or is it business days only?

Looking to get a delta and hilton card

u/m16p SFO, SJC 6d ago

5 normal days, not business days

1

u/EynakEast 6d ago

I’ve got my direct deposits going into my bank account with a bonus (BMO) and I’d like to transfer the money immediately into SoFi. Is there anything preventing me from receiving the deposit at BMO and immediately transferring the money out of the account?

I don’t see anything in the terms and conditions prohibiting this outside of ensuring that I have some form of positive balance in the account by the end of the month.

2

u/Beduerus 6d ago

No issues

1

u/HallOfFame15 6d ago

I got a Chase United Business card on 2/21 and am closing in on meeting the spend. Would it be dumb to try to open a CSP after the 100k comes live online later this week (I'm 3/24 so no concerns there)? Should I wait? Haven't seen many DPs specifically other than a general idea that it is better to space out Chase apps by 3 months. Not sure how long this offer going to last so don't want to miss it.

6

u/jtevy 6d ago

Looks like this question is going to come up a ton in the coming weeks lol.

Go for it. Don’t make it a habit and keep your average time between applications 3-4 months with Chase. Probably means no Chase applications for another 6 months after this. This ‘once’ shouldn’t be a problem

4

u/RTW34 6d ago

Spacing Chase apps by 3 months is a general guideline not a hard and fast rule, and the guideline is to average one Chase card every three months. If your Chase velocity is pretty slow, applying for a CSP this quickly after your biz card app should be fine. Just don’t make it a habit

0

u/roygibiv101 6d ago

I got two chase cards in 8 days in January. Like you, the first one was a Biz card. I'd say you're ok to go for it

How do you make payments to the BoA (Alaska) Biz card with a BoA personal checking account? I have 2 BoA logins, one for the biz and one personal checking and cannot link the two. The only option to add accounts is for non-BoA accounts.

There's a "transfer" page that theoretically should let you transfer funds between BoA accounts but the From part is grayed out and no option to add accounts.

This is the worst website out of all the banks I've used.

1

u/sg77 RFS 6d ago

My business accounts automatically appeared in my personal login, and my personal accounts automatically appeared in my business login.

But the "Make transfer" interface in my business login, for the From options, only shows my business checking account; in my personal login it shows both personal and business checking accounts.

I'm not sure if the "Make transfer" interface works immediately; possibly you need to wait a month or two. But I usually send a bill payment using an external site anyway.

3

u/superdex75 6d ago

In your personal login, you can add the biz card as a payee in the bill pay (make sure you use the account number of the CORP account, and not the number of your card), then you can definitely make a payment, as bill pay.

If you manage to add your biz account to you personal profile (I don't know how to do that, as my sole prop biz accounts all automatically were added to my personal profile), than you can make a transfer from your checking to the CORP account, which is instantaneous.

Setting up automatic payment is an entirely different story...

(Have you used PNC already? Compared to PNC, BofA online is fantastic).

1

u/Nations112 6d ago

Awesome, I'll try it from the personal account and see if it works. Thanks!

First time doing Amex employee card offer + upgrade offer so wanted to get the timing right.

I have 3 ECs arriving in the mail today. If I upgrade today, then spend on ECs should count towards both the ECs and Upgrade offers, correct?

2

u/CericRushmore DCA 6d ago

Just to add, recommend to wait a day to start the spend after the upgrade. The card picture should have changed on the app.

1

u/mehjoo_ SFO, SJC 6d ago

Was planning to wait a day. Thanks for confirming

I have a CSR and have a trip to Mexico planned early May. Given the CSP 100k promo should I risk it and wait untill I get back from the trip to PC and sign up for CSP SUB? I guess I like the thought of having the trip insurance and priority pass status that the CSR offers for this trip. Also renewal is in October and I have already spent the travel credit. Does chase refund a prorated annual fee if I PC to original freedom?

1

u/ExecBratinum 6d ago

My annual fee was prorated recenetly when I product changed to the Freedom.

When (on which day at what time) is the $10/$15 monthly Uber credit of Amex personal Gold and Platinum added to your Uber account? It's not added yet for me as of March 31st 9:45am EST.

If I remember correctly , I think I saw a DP that it is added on the last day of the previous month (for example April credit added on March 31st) and thus, if you place an order on that day, you can use both the credits from the previous month and last month (can use credit for March and April). Is it true? If so, around what time of the last day of the month is the credit added?

1

u/miztressuz 6d ago

I've never seen it in the morning, only evening/night EST. And for me only the Gold card, Plat is always dated the 1st of the month.

4

u/jtevy 6d ago

This won’t happen consistently and not really a game worth playing if the idea is to maximize benefit use every month

5

u/lost_shadow_knight 6d ago

They aren't added at the same time every month. I've had them arrive as early as 9pm ET in the previous month or as late as 9am ET on the 1st. The credits arrive separately.

2

u/RTW34 6d ago

I have both the Gold and the Plat. Sometimes the Uber credits are posted late evening (~11pm ET) before the first of the month and some are posted very early in the morning on the first of the month (~1am ET). I’ve always used the credits after they’ve posted.

I made a purchase on March 23 at a Resy restaurant to use the $10 monthly credit on my Delta Platinum business card. However, it hasn't yet triggered the credit. I made a Lyft purchase on March 28 that already triggered the $10 monthly rideshare credit, so I'm thinking the Resy credit may not have automatically processed correctly. I messaged Amex and got a canned response to please wait up to 8 weeks. My annual fee just posted on the card and I'm planning to close, so while I normally would just follow up later, this timeline is too long for me currently. For additional context, the payment at the Resy restaurant was processed through Toast which hasn't been an issue for me at other restaurants, so I don't know if it's isolated to just this restaurant and isn't triggering or the credit is just taking a while independent of where you use it at. Any suggestions for what to do?

2

u/jtevy 6d ago

I would give it more time. As long as the restaurant was listed on Resy and toast terminal was used, you will be OK. Been seeing some delays with benefit/offer payouts recently

2

u/ExecBratinum 6d ago

Had some Amex credits take forever to post. I was successful in cancelling the card (but I kept it in my online login). Eventually it showed a negative balance from the credits and I was able to cash out.

I'm going to be downgrading a BCP to a BCE. After my statement closes at the end of April I'm expecting about $100 of rewards dollars. Am I okay to PC now, or do I need to wait until I receive the cashback?

4

u/sg77 RFS 6d ago

You don't need to wait; the rewards should still post even if you downgrade first.

Just double checking, if I have the Hawaiian Business card and my friends do not have any Hawaiian cards, they can still transfer Hawaiian miles to me for free correct?

3

u/ExecBratinum 6d ago

Yes that is correct; you can also use yourself as a bridge between them (e.g. Person A transfers to you, and then you transfer to Person B).
