So I've had my girl Cookie (left) since she was a pup. She's actually a legend. Sweet, calm, affectionate, smart, loves everyone and every dog, and just amazing.
As such, I was presented with the opportunity to adopt her half sister Margie (Same Dad 6 months apart) in December.
At first we were worried because it's generally not advised to bring in a second female near the same age due to aggression and fights over territory etc, but I decided to give her a chance.
At first there were the usual jealousy issues, and they were both trying to assert dominance. We had two small scraps over food as well. However, wiyh a routine and dome extra training, we're past the three month mark and we're seeing a change. Food aggression is gone, they play together and chase each other now, and they are glued to each other when we go on walks. They both sleep in bed with me now and share the couch.
Lately, they've been doing this behavior every morning for about an hour and it seems playful. Are they 'cuddling' in collie?
I'm completely in love with Margie already and she has really become my velcro dog. She's a bit of a potato compared to her sister but I think things are on the right track.
Anyone else experience something similar?
