I honestly, no snark, no hyperbole, no scoring political points, believe they are suffering from a form of hoarding disorder.
If someone has a cat, then they like cats. If someone has two cats, then maybe they thought one cat would be lonely. If someone has 10 cats, they're suffering from a mental disorder.
If someone has a can of beans, they have a well stocked pantry. If someone has two or three cans of beans, maybe they just like beans. If someone has five cases of beans, they're suffering from a mental disorder.
If someone has enough money to live a decent life, then they just want a decent life. If someone has enough money to lead a life of decadance and indulgance, well maybe they're just into that. If someone has thousands of times the money they could ever spend in their lifetime no matter how extravagant they are then......
Today our society finishes that with "then they are super awesome people who are better than everyone else and should be in charge of evertyhing."
I'd argue that we should finish that statement with "then they have a hoarding disorder and need treatment."
Billionaires are a threat to democracy, and quite likely a threat to human civilization. But they're also mentally ill.
And, fun fact! I would be violating the TOS of Facebook if I said that, they classify claiming people are mentally ill is a form of hate speech and harassment and should be prohibited.
Except for LGBT people. Per the new Facebook TOS it is perfectly fine to call LGBT people mentally ill, and that's not a weird unintended quirk of the language of the TOS, they explicitly carved out an exception in their general prohibition on calling people mentally ill.
Here's the actual language of the TOS:
Content targeting a person or group of people on the basis of their protected characteristic(s) (in written or visual form) with insults, including those about:
Mental characteristics, including but not limited to allegations of stupidity, intellectual capacity, and mental illness, and unsupported comparisons between PC groups on the basis of inherent intellectual capacity. *We do allow allegations of mental illness or abnormality when based on gender or sexual orientation, given political and religious discourse about transgenderism and homosexuality and common non-serious usage of words like “weird.”"
Basically it's open season on LGBT people here on Facebook now, but you are absolutely forbidden from saying that a certain orange person in senile or mentally ill, or that billionaires are suffering from hoarding disorder.

For rich people generally, nine times out of ten, yeah. Then for the one out of ten exception you have people like Keanu Reeves. But for the super rich, the billionaires … endless growth and ego-fueling seem to be intrinsic to it. Maybe an exception is Warren Buffet who is just a finance nerd, obsessed with growth no doubt but he has never come across as narcissistic.

If you had so much money that you never needed to work a day in your life again you'd probably want to use it to make the world a better place or at least would be spending it relaxing on a beach in Oahu with a supermodel on either arm.
Elon Musk is the richest man on earth but he's miserable. His constant attention-seeking and need for validation would put a teenager to shame. He has no one who loves him. His kids all hate him as do his baby mamas.
His life is work, video games, ketamine and Twitter. Greed is an empty abyss that can never be filled.

Read between the lines and it's close to that. Shutting down in California and a "US operations" branch to open in Texas. There'll be some voluntary relocalisations sure but it implies both new hires in Texas, and especially it implies that some of those jobs are going overseas. No promise Texas will ever see more than a fraction of these jobs.
The main reason why you never want to fire everyone and start fresh is because too many skills and training would be lost if you don't have a core group of experienced workers to train your new folks.

Facebook was very effective replacing old forums. A lot of communities and info have fully migrated to fb groups and going back is very unlikely to happen. Reddit is also partially responsible for this, it's just way more accessible (for now at least) than fb. But saying it serves no purpose is false, unfortunately.
