MBA culture is the reason we’re in this financial mess and they are terrible terrible degrees

2.0k Upvotes

MBA curriculum doesn’t teach you how to effectively run a business, it just teaches you how to maximize shareholder profit and value and that mindset is what leads to more and more businesses becoming enshittified all in the name of stock price. If MBAs focused on building relationships with clients and vendors, i’m so sure that we’d have more quality CEOs and managers but all we have right now is a bunch of egg-heads telling us how the consumer is wrong and other synergy-based bullshit.

EDIT: thanks for the gold. I stand by my post.

If you're able bodied and do not exercise regularly, you are cheating yourself out of a better life

Upvotes

There have been countless studies showing that the benefits of exercise reach far past just the physical - increased mental capacity, an effective treatment for depression, and team sports are incredible tools for bonding with others. And there are countless types of exercise besides the cliche ones like weightlifting and running. No matter your financial situation, how busy you are, how stressed you are, and your physical state (unless you have an extreme physical debilitation like an amputated limb, paralysis, etc), you can always find 15-30 mins of time to do some sort of exercise a couple times a week. You'll feel better, look better, and your life will be better

I think committed couples should live separately to maintain desire and eroticism.

I don’t know any couple who has cohabited for 20+ years and managed to maintain passion. Esther Perel explains this challenge quite well in her book Mating in Captivity. Perhaps we need to stop fooling ourselves about the fact that we can be roommates and lovers with the same person 24/7.

Using ahh instead of ass is just stupid and sound so dumb

6.3k Upvotes

This internet slang has become so weird and this time it is just so stupid. It sound so ridiculous when you just type ahh instead of ass. Like why? What is the main purpose of that? Never understood that

Pets are treated better than most humans, and that’s weird.

There’s a growing trend of treating pets like royalty : organic diets, spa treatments, designer clothes; while many people struggle to meet their basic needs. It’s not that pets shouldn’t be loved and cared for, but the imbalance is strange. It says something uncomfortable about society when dogs in strollers get more compassion than unhoused people on the same street. It’s not cute—it’s dystopian.

Being a veterinarian is much harder than a doctor

Vets have to learn about the anatomy of many species, while doctors only human one. They also practice all of the subspecialties(radiology, internal medicine, dentistry, surgery etc.),whereas human physicians specialise and forget most of the basic stuff. Also, animals can't even talk so getting a history and doing a clinical examination is infinitely harder than on a conscious adult/child.

The reason most people are feeling depressed is because they are living in fear

This is gonna sound crazy but I genuinely think that people nowadays are depressed because they are living in fear - fear of social rejection, fear of what other people are thinking of them, fear of failure, the list goes on.

They choose to live smaller lives because they are afraid of what might happen if they choose to live bigger and have more chaos in their lives. More unpredictability.

That's why I see it almost inevitable that a depressed person and a predictable, groundhog day life are inextricable. They go together hand in hand. The depressed person rarely steps out of their comfort zone - they feel trapped - they feel sad - then they don't step out of their comfort zone. They thus live the same day everyday. It's a positive feedback cycle that doesn't end.

Maybe the answer to the depression that many face is to face their fears 🤔

What do you guys think? Is this a popular or unpopular opinion in your view?

Family Guy is funnier when consumed through YouTube shorts than whole episodes

Upvotes

Generally, most episodes have a few funny gags and jokes and the rest is just filler, I was never interested in the storylines or something. The whole "gag" format is a bit annoying in my opinion, in "short form brain rot" form it feels a bit more cohesive since there's no context that the jokes are unrelated to. Only reason I noticed this is because short clips of other comedy shows leave me frustrated because I don't have the context, nor will I see where it'll go. With Family Guy I just know it's a gag that had nothing to do with anything anyway, similar to any other comedy sketch I'll stumble while doomscrolling.

Edit: This might be a popular opinion amongst people younger than me, but I think they might be a bit biased since they weren't exposed to Family Guy through its proper format.

Most people don't actually want "world peace they just want everyone to agree with them.

Every time I hear someone say “I just want peace in the world,” what they really mean is, “I want people to stop disagreeing with my views.” Real peace requires compromise, empathy, and accepting that other people think differently. But most people only want peace if it means silence from the other side.

You don’t want peace. You want comfort. You want to be right without challenge.
World peace isn’t people thinking the same—it’s people learning how to disagree without tearing each other apart. And most people can’t even handle that on social media, let alone real life.

As a European i wish i lived in a suburb like in america.

Upvotes

I live in a town and not in Milan where you can just use public transport, so i have to take my car to buy toilet paper or any basic necessity.

I always loved american suburbs, having your yard and your own space. Here i can barely find a parking spot, all around me i see shanty old houses which are crawling apart and it's all asphalt, not green.

I hate Bruno Mars

Even though I acknowledge that he is talented I CANT STAND his music and voice. There is not 1 song by him that I can tolerate . It annoys me that his music is always playing when I’m in public. I can’t seem to escape it.

Monday is actually not that bad

I don’t really get the hate people have for it. Monday isn’t some villain—it’s just the beginning of a new week. And honestly, there’s something kind of nice about that. It’s a fresh start. A little mental reset. A new chance to do things you didn’t get around to last week, or to improve on whatever didn’t go right.

Instead of dreading it, why not use it as an opportunity to shift gears? Try something different. Set a new goal. Even just changing your mindset a little on Monday can make the whole week feel more manageable.

People act like Monday personally wronged them, but it’s literally just another day. If anything, it’s the most optimistic one.

Our brains aren’t supposed to see what everyone on Earth is doing at this very moment.

I feel like social media is the reason most people are mentally ill and overstimulated.

We now live in a society where you can see what almost every single person is doing right now at this very moment via. Instagram stories/Snapchat stories and I think it’s not good for our brains.

I didn’t put too much thought into this post, so try to be too critical with me, but that’s just how I felt today. What are your thoughts guys? Wasn’t life better when we didn’t know everything and everyone? Just… being present with the people around you and your neighbors?

The best movies are the ones with unknown actors.

I don't get how people enjoy most of the big movies nowadays.
At this point, it's just a lot of the same popular actors in every movie. It ruins the whole experience.
If you don't really know the actor, you can actually immerse yourself and follow the character’s story without constantly being reminded of who’s playing them. But now, It’s just The Rock or whoever trying to act in who gives a crap.

Maybe they get a pass if they're completely in a different costume, or have heavy makeup, or doing voice work where you can’t tell who it is. Otherwise it’s distracting. You can’t immerse yourself in the movie when all you see is the same celebrity pretending to be someone else for the hundredth time.

Unknown actors bring a sense of unpredictability and realism. It makes it about the movie instead of the celebrity in the movie.

And honestly, it feels like a much greater accomplishment when a film is carried by fresh faces. It's not just the star power. If anything, casting a talented unknown actor is a risk that shows real artistic integrity.

The „song fades into silence“ is the worst and laziest way to end a song

So you know when a song just goes quieter and ends? Its horrible and feels like the producers/songwriters just couldnt be bothered to write an end and said “fuck it just turn the volume down its fine”. Its lazy and cheap and just uncreative. And the sheer amount of songs that end like this makes me think this must be an unpopular opinion, I mean, just give me an end

We need to normalize using stuffed animals

1.1k Upvotes

Stuffed animals are comfy, provide excellent structural support for sleep, and make you fall asleep easier. I don't see why it's no longer socially acceptable to use them once you're old enough, especially in our anxiety-ridden society

I use a Squishmallow Dragonite. I was hesitant to buy it at first, but it's a literal life-changer once you get over the stigma :)

The time of the internet celebrity will soon end

Have you noticed that every YouTuber or influencer on the internet will follow one of 3 categories?

Be cancelled by some terrible act and lose everything

Be forgotten and lose everything

Die

Sure there are some and few exceptions but they are very few and don't make the majority, I believe that one day people will slowly stop caring about influencers , sure they will still exist but what if one day people got tires of all the people they thought were decent human beings turning out to be criminals, I bet you can think of at least 5 influencers you thought were cool one day and then turned out to be bad people

And that's why traditional media won't die, tv movies books radio you name it , because people rather trust someone who will fufill this trust than someone that is to risky to trust

People need to learn the difference between something being bad and something not being written how they personally would have written it.

I see this with tons of films, games, and shows. Everyone is saying things like "the ending sucked," "the new season sucked," "the sequel sucked," but what they really meant was "the ending/new season/sequel didn't go the way I personally would have written it." I see this all the time now. People are so entitled. They need to understand that the universe doesn't revolve around them and maybe they need to accept that the way they theorized their favorite series would go isn't how it actually would go.

An official diagnosis is important.

Upvotes

there are obviously plenty of medical issues that are self diagnosed and totally fine, but some things are required to be seen be a professional and officially diagnosed through a process before you run around telling everyone you have it.

Beignets are just square funnel cakes

I went to Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans this weekend and the beignets were delicious. Of course they were, they’re freaking funnel cakes. There’s nothing wrong with that. I was just expecting something different after all the hype. Why does no one ever describe them as funnel cakes? Anyway delicious and affordable. Would recommend

"Common Courtesy" while driving needs to be seriously cut back.

I'm not talking about zipper merge (which is awesome) or letting someone into a jammed lane when it makes absolutely no difference. I'm talking about doing something so far out of the norm that no one would expect it and it just slows everything down. Stopping in traffic and blocking people behind you to let people in or out when if you had just continued on, they would have made their turns faster instead of sitting there trying to figure out what you're doing is one example I've seen recently. The worst one is stopping in a traffic circle to let people in ahead of you, completely negating the actual purpose of the traffic circle.

Courtesy certainly has it's place, but not always. Just drive according to the law and everything will work out fine.

We all know what needs to be done, we're just too scared to do it

Upvotes

You’ve felt it too, right? That certainty.

It’s not a mystery. It’s not unclear. We know it’s the right thing to do. We just don’t act. We wait. We rationalize.

We always have. We’re just too afraid to face the consequences of doing what’s right. So we stay still. And call it complicated when it's not.

screenshots of text posts are not memes

Upvotes

the way i see it a meme is an image that conveys meaning graphically. screenshots of text posts are just reading. might as well just copy and paste the text for all the difference it makes. reaction images are already pretty well accepted as seperate from memes so why do poeple keep insisting their twitter screenshots are memes?

Airplane food is good and people give it too much grief

Pretty much the title. For the most part, food on airplanes is pretty solid. Sure, it’s not a Michelin meal—but to say it’s slop or some horrendous amalgamation is so false. People’s expectations are either unreasonably high (there’s no real kitchen??) or their tastes are seriously narrow (which, I guess, is fair but you can’t be an arbiter of cuisine if your personal pickiness precludes you from being objective). Don’t really understand how this would be an unpopular opinion to be honest, but I swear I never see anyone not lambasting airplane food whenever it’s brought up.

A few caveats: - if you have a dietary restriction or allergy. While I do think airlines generally do a good job of accommodating allergies (though I do admit I’ve seen some questionable “snack bags” with tree nuts), the vegan/vegetarian options do often leave much to be desired. - there is the issue of availability and, yes, some people don’t get their first choice. But, one, most displeasure often stems from pickiness, and, two, that is part of why seats closer to the front are more expensive. The latter of which could lead into a discussion about the power of money in society, but you can’t say it’s an illogical methodology within the given capitalist system. - this is mainly talking about long-haul flights and the “provided meal services” rather than the options available for purchase on domestic flights.
