As the title explains, what were the games that you played that started off extremely rough to the point where you didn't want to play it again. However, after giving it some second thought, you decided to play through it again and didn't stop playing it because it was that good?
For myself, these are some of the games that I gave another shot:
Dark Souls - I didn't really understand the mechanics and I ended up dying way too quick because I was not fully prepared nor was I fully informed. After giving it another shot, I had watched several small tutorials on what I should do to get stronger and I ended up playing through the rest of it. Funny story, but when I started playing Dark Souls, I immediately stopped just so I can beat Demon's Souls first because I thought they were connected.
Fallout 3 - I felt the action was a little terrible and the exploration a little dull. But after a while, I figured I just grind through the game so I can make things easier. The more quests are started completing and realizing how complex the dialogue decisions were, the more engaged I was. The DLC was by far the best thing about this game, especially the ending to The Pitt.
Eternal Darkness - My friend played through this game first. After he beat it, I borrowed it and wasn't really enjoying it. I mentioned how I was going to return it to him because I didn't like it, but he insisted that I keep playing. Sure enough, I trusted his word and started loving the story of the game even more. I just wished there was an actual sequel...
