Picked up 2 bottles for 10.7 USD (78rmb) each since with the 35% tariffs incoming they would be priced too close to better scotch in the future.

Celebrating a job well done with a pour of Gold. I build this display out of a piece of leftover cherry from my bourbon cabinet build. This one matches much better.

Blantons, Taylor, Stagg, Eagle Rare, Mid winters dram, Buffalo trace all on the shelves at just about every liqour store I go to in the last month here in Texas. They are still "allocated" and going for secondary in most places, but it seems like the rare bottles weren't so rare after all.

Just started getting into whiskey with my dad and taking a look at my local store and wanted to see what you guys would recommend out of here. We were tempted between the EH Taylor or one of the garrison brothers but didn’t want to pull the trigger yet. Right now the only bottles we have are Woodfords double oaked and an Old Forester single barrel barrel strength. Any help would be great, thanks!

Hey everyone, pardon my ignorance. Does any ever go to distilleries and do tasting like at tap houses? I kinda figure this is a good way to try a lot of different whiskeys to find what I do and don’t like.

I remembered I had bought a couple bottles of Macallan Cask Strength from the early to mid 2000s. I brought one bottle to a party around that time and finding it far too strong for me, so I packed the other bottle away in the back of my collection and forgot about it until now.

Both bottles were stored in their boxes under the same condition but I notice a loss in volume in the Cask Strength. I’m not planning on opening either any time soon so I parafilmed both bottles and tuck them away again. Maybe it will help with any more loss, maybe it won’t, but it can’t hurt.

I ended up Parafilming my entire unopened collection as well since I’ve cut down on my drinking significantly. I’m hoping to pass the collection to my kids one day. Not a lot but my favorites from back in the day.

Bardstown and Rock Hill Farms made me fall in love with Whiskey. Just got back from a trip to many distilleries in Kentucky.

I'm only familiar with Nikka with the samurai helmet bottle caps. No dates on bottle that I can read. Is this a keeper?

Have heard very good things about both these bottles and am a big fan of the Jack Daniels Barrel Proof Rye and the Single Barrel Rye so have high hopes.

Have never tried Evan Williams and look forward to this, heard it’s an easy pour to enjoy.

Is it worth picking the OSEO over the OBSF and OESK.

I'm sure I'd get my share in of the tastings to cover the entry fee, but more interested if anyone can provide feedback on the bottle shop for purchasing bottles? Eg prices, what's available, higher proofs?

Our bourbon selections over here are quite average so would be worth attending if I could pick up some bottles I can't get through the regular sources.

I joined this sub towards the end of 2024 and around that time I recall a post of someone who made a post of all the Whiskeys everyone reviewed in 2024. Does anyone else remember this or am I crazy? And if so, is there someone who could link the post??
