Bernie Sanders has just introduced legislation to raise the $7.25 federal minimum wage to a living wage of at least $17 an hour.
 in  r/DanielWilliams  2h ago

You know I agree with you, but it ruins your point when you say "people are making ..billions daily"  https://www.forbes.com/real-time-billionaires/#5be8a9233d78

No one even has 365 billion right now - given your point that would only take 1 year! And net worth of value is not really making "billions a day" when it's a stocks that can go up and down.

Executive Order - Protecting American Energy From State Overreach
 in  r/climate  2h ago

The EO directs the AG to stop the enforcement of State laws that set preference for energy sources based on emissions, addressing climate change, etc.

"(a)  The Attorney General, in consultation with the heads of appropriate executive departments and agencies, shall identify all State and local laws, regulations, causes of action, policies, and practices (collectively, State laws) burdening the identification, development, siting, production, or use of domestic energy resources that are or may be unconstitutional, preempted by Federal law, or otherwise unenforceable.  The Attorney General shall prioritize the identification of any such State laws purporting to address “climate change” or involving “environmental, social, and governance” initiatives, “environmental justice,” carbon or “greenhouse gas” emissions, and funds to collect carbon penalties or carbon taxes. (b)  The Attorney General shall expeditiously take all appropriate action to stop the enforcement of State laws and continuation of civil actions identified in subsection (a) of this section that the Attorney General determines to be illegal."

How much are you paying for internet in Bellingham?
 in  r/Bellingham  3h ago

$35 Xfinity for me. They had slowly been raising prices and I was paying like $70 last year and I called and they hit me up with either a repricing or discount or something, but same service just half the price now. 🤷‍♂️👍😃

A $1 trillion defense budget? Trump, Hegseth say it's happening - Breaking Defense
 in  r/WallStreetbetsELITE  17h ago

My dad yesterday said he liked some of the stuff Trump was doing like tackling the deficit with DOGE.. I had to explain to my liberal father that was just more fake news produced by the administration. They don't give a flying fuck about the deficit. The proposed Congress bills would raise the deficit 4.5-7 TRILLION dollars. If Trump gave a fuck about bringing down the deficit he would be telling them he'd veto it, but he doesn't and won't. DOGE isn't about bringing down the deficit, it's about getting rid of any program that they disagree with as quickly (and unconstituanally) as possible.

Trump voters - how are you feeling?
 in  r/WallStreetbetsELITE  1d ago

Honestly, shit like this is my least favorite part of reddit. I'm a pretty liberal guy, don't get me wrong - but I like to at least hear from or try to see other POVs. But literally everywhere on reddit except r/Conservative, any conservatives get downvotted into oblivion and responses like this. Also why I hate all these "Ask reddit: Conservatives how you feel about"... All these posts never seem in good faith. Like it bothers me. I really think we need to come together more as a society - this system of division is only helping the elites. Maybe we just need more meetups where people actually get together and like talk to one another idfk. And ban "news" stations like Fox (who have argued in court they are not news). Idk man. I'm just tired.

Anyways yeah where this guy live that his egg prices are coming down? Ours are still sky high

American Flags at Protests is Working as Planned
 in  r/50501  1d ago

For sure!

Also I didn't realize there were specific colors that are needed lol. I thought it was supposed to just be like a general rainbow to signify diversity. Kind of seems like it's an endless treadmill to try to add every color (or letter to the acronym) I think either way it's sending an amazing message! ❤️🔥🔥

I've been advocating for this for years. I think it's awful that we let it get as far as we did. I'm a big believer in having the American flag and LGBT flag side by side. The American flag should be about Patriotism and we are rebuilding that idea again. I hate how some alt right were trying to make it about turning the clock back 50 years. Being progressive, asking for your country to be better is the most fucking democratic AMERICAN thing we could do! Take back the flag!

Let’s be clear: you and I get one vote but billionaires like Elon Musk can spend $270 million to elect Donald Trump.

I went to my local Hands Off! rally and the Communist Party of America was there with a booth. I'm no communist, but I was curious and so got their newspaper. One interesting article I read was talking about how from their POV they liked a lot of Bernie's messages but think he's failing by "trying to bring voters back to the failed Democratic party".

I wholeheartedly disagree though. Unfortunately, we live in a 2 party, FPTP voting system. And like it or not, until we change how that system functions - we're not getting a "new party" from scratch any time soon. HOWEVER - that doesn't mean we can't get new parties - it just has to happen in a different way.

What we need is a politician - like Bernie - to lead a change to the Democratic party, similar to how Trump's MAGA has changed the Republican party. Like him or not - Trump has done something fascinating where he has basically hijacked the Republican party and forced it into what HE wants. This is what we need for the Democratic party. The truth is, we're not getting a whole new party any time soon. We are stuck in this system. But if we play our cards right in the next primaries and back someone who is willing to fight the right fights - fighting for workers, affordability, climate action, and all humans getting human rights - this is how we make change.

Trump administration asks SCOTUS to block order to return man mistakenly deported to El Salvador
 in  r/law  1d ago

Nah, I don't believe that at all. They're testing their power. We've already seen him try to change the definition of what "a citizen" is (getting rid of birthright) and he just said he would be happy to send US Citizens to these torture jails too - we should all be terrified! He will come for anyone who disagrees against him.

Trump administration asks SCOTUS to block order to return man mistakenly deported to El Salvador
 in  r/law  1d ago

And Trump literally just said he would be "honored" if they would take US Citizens. We all knew it was going there. He would start with illegal immigrants, try out permanent residents, and then go straight for citizens. These people are the enemy! Everyone should be terrified and getting involved however you can, be it with the 50501/indivisible movement or whatever you can locally. We need to be fighting back against these fucking fascists!

Trump administration asks SCOTUS to block order to return man mistakenly deported to El Salvador
 in  r/law  1d ago

Yeah this is fucking crazy. Everyone should be deeply concerned about this. But go on r/conservative and you'll see tons of "keep the gang member locked up" responses. Literally there was no solid evidence EVER presented and he was NEVER proven guilty of fucking anything. This country is going to hell where the government can just make up lies and throw people to fucking torture camps in other countries. Hopefully the Supreme Court demands the administration returns him home. This is absolutely disgusting. And really every single one of those sent to El Salvador should be returned. WHERE WAS THE DUE PROCESS?!?

I mean it was on CNNs page, Wall Street Journal had it on front as did many other large newspapers. And I know in my city our local papers had pieces. Maybe not every site has it the main main story, but it is definitely getting coverage.
