If you discovered the mushroom, what would you do? How (if you would) would you distribute it?
 in  r/CommonSideEffects  3d ago

I don’t know, I think it depends on whether or not the person would die without it.

If I’m terminally ill, and this mushroom can give me a few more months of perfect health with my family before it makes me “crazy”, that’s a net positive for me every time.

Is it XR? Half clear half pink? If so those SUCK! I much prefer the orange ones.

(Disclaimer: I take it as prescribed for my ADHD)

I just heard someone say "men who slam doors & furniture, just want you to hear how much they want to hit you
 in  r/venting  12d ago

Right, but the difference is that when my sister slams a door i know that the worst I’ll get from her is a nasty attitude, and if she became physically violent I would have a chance of subduing her or fighting back. She wouldn’t kill me or break my bones. If my brother slammed the door, it’s scarier because he could beat me to death without even using his full strength and there would be nothing I could do about it.

Women can and do have violent outbursts, but men have them far more often and can do a lot more damage with a lot less effort. That’s the problem.

(Note: I am not saying that men having violent outbursts more often is inherent to being male. It is because of how they were socialized)

How strict are Americans about backseat passengers wearing seatbelts?
 in  r/AskAnAmerican  14d ago

Also, I just don’t want to live with the guilt of someone getting hurt/dying in my car simply because I didn’t force them to buckle up.

Same here (mom also worked though). And if we were really bad, then dad got to be the one to get the belt for spanking.

OP specifically said “my mom wouldn’t listen” that’s probably why

What type of nails to get? Can’t stop picking
 in  r/calmhands  20d ago

What the other person said, but the cost of that can add up fast and if you aren’t good about getting it redone or removed in time youll end up ripping them off improperly and damaging the nail way more.

I have switched to adhesive tab press ons by imPRESS and KISS (other brands suck). I don’t use glue as the glue pops off too fast and I have to keep reapplying the glue to them and then I end up picking instead of putting the nail back on. But I’ve had good luck with adhesive press ons nails! Just make sure you prep the nail correctly (TikTok/youtube how), and press down firmly for at least ten seconds when you put on the nail. Then removal is as easy as soaking in nail polish remover for a minute or so!

I can make mine last two weeks. That’s $5-10 each pack, so $20 most a month. Plus you can get all kinds of cute designs that would cost soooo much money if they were real. And once you get good at applying them, you can make them look real :)

Grief and Rage in r/MelanieMartinez Due to Relationship Drama
 in  r/SubredditDrama  21d ago

The loudest voices were definitely the defenders, because a lot of us felt so gross about it that we kind of just quietly disappeared. It was easier on our mental health to stop doing/consuming anything relating to her—including posting about her being wrong for what she did. The non-fans were doing that for us.

Ima be honest like as a teenager who really loved Melanie, that shit hurt when it came out (was still a teen when it happened). And on top of dealing with my idol being an abuser, I had to deal with people being like “hahaha your favorite artist is a rapist you’re so cringe for that” So I just didn’t engage online in any way, and that’s true for most of us I think.

her fans have never given a damn before and won’t now

I do believe we are seeing a selection bias (I think that’s the term I’m thinking of) here. Because the truth is that a lot of fans did care, and are no longer fans as a result. Which just leaves the people who don’t care.

I was a big fan, and several of my friends were as well. When the allegations were originally made, all of us dipped from the fandom and refused to support Melanie further. When Mel gets new fans, and they find out about the allegations, they either leave or stay. So then all the fans that end up sticking around are people who are far more likely to excuse her behavior—whether it be sexual assault, insane merch pricing, or weird online behavior.

I’ve been woken up by a falsely set alarm clock in nearly every hotel I’ve stayed at! It’s wild that you have never had that experience lol

I don’t understand liberals and conservatives
 in  r/venting  22d ago

They are not stating it as if being straight white cis male is a negative thing. They’re stating that not being that is a negative thing.

Where did they imply it was negative to be a straight white cis man? When they said that straight white cis men had rights?

I think OP is a troll similar to the “10 drinks a day before a doctors appointment is normal” girl. There’s been a few posts here recently that are obviously written to stir up drama.

Before I dropped my kindergartener off at school, I asked if she wanted me to look for anything for her while I thrifted. She said “sparkly unicorn purse”. The thrift gods had my back

One time I was Black Friday shopping and found some gorgeous Tommy Hilfiger boots on sale at Belk, but couldn’t decide between the black and the brown. I ended up going with the black pair.

The next day I went to goodwill, and found the brown pair in my size essentially brand new for $15! I couldn’t believe my luck.
