A beloved skier, an audacious jump and the complex grief left behind
 in  r/skiing  1h ago

I don’t think this kid went to college and it’s not like his alternative if he didn’t make it was law school.

The article says he was a talented welder and woodworker which probably gives him the better chance of a bright future compared to an average non-STEM bachelor's degree holder with student debt.

You should see it in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It's especially funny seeing Jonah Hill say it in the movie

You're taking a winter off of work and renting a place near a ski resort to go all season, where do you go?
 in  r/skiing  1d ago

Now that I think about it, it was at a hotel both times. I didn't realize short term housing wasn't really a thing until this thread.

My first thought was someone getting hyped up on exogenous testosterone and all of a sudden experienced elevated athletic performance

How long can you stay without work? I don't remember filing for a permit or anything the 2 times i stayed in Banff.

Like it's too expensive or the visa/lodging situation wouldn't work for extended vacation?

Question for IM users
 in  r/ketamine  2d ago

I prefer IM. I do a methanol rinse first, filter out impurities, then evaporate. Once all the methanol is gone (don't cut the drying short), I'll dissolve 1g / 10 mL in a sterile saline solution. Glass vials get a steam bath for like 90 min. Run the dissolved saline/ket through a 0.2 um filter, I add a few drops of benzyl alcohol for preservation, and cap. Store in the fridge.

Ventrogluteal injections are my favorite. I'll hole around 100-150 mg (1-1.5 mL) but I like to float on 80 (0.8 mL) to where I'm still functional.

Netflix star and bodybuilder Vittorio Pirbazari dies at 44 after collapsing on treadmill
 in  r/sports  3d ago

I'm on TRT and I run 100 mg / wk of test cyp. My total T levels are on the higher end of natural and I still have to carefully watch my blood pressure.

500 mg / wk is crazy. I would need an aromasin pump like a diabetic needs insulin.

Police Arrest Suspected Deer Valley Ski Thief

Ski resorts are typically restricted to people with less reasons to steal. Some people don't need a reason, but in general I think they're probably less likely.

Should I give my son a Q5
 in  r/Rich  4d ago

We always cared more about who we were riding with than what we were riding in. My hometown was poor as hell though and the "nice" vehicles were new F150s or mustangs. I never really felt any shame driving around in my 12 year old Ford Explorer that I beat to hell

Put the money paid in a 529 plan, invest it, and put it toward college expenses.

What do you think about the tariffs imposed by Trump ? Will it work out for them ?

It's probably retribution for what Ozwald did to Victor in the HBO show The Penguin

Are there more liberal or conservative rich people?
 in  r/Rich  5d ago

They have to maintain enough appearances to not get labeled as Satan by the Bible Belt, but I don't think Trump or immediate people really care about religion. Elon Musk is pretty openly atheist, is he not?

Cracked $2 million NW but miserably burned out and desperate to escape. Ideas highly appreciated
 in  r/financialindependence  5d ago

And of the 5% that it doesn't last X years, some portion of that you also don't survive as planne so it still depletes after you do. Therefore the risk that it runs out while you're still alive is more like 3-4%

Are most black women bald naturally or they shave it
 in  r/stupidquestions  7d ago

My buddy could grow an afro as a white dude. He got the pleasure of being nick-named "pubes". I had curly hair but looser curls. I wouldn't get harassed near as much but I would get lots of "Jew-fro" comments if I let it grow out.

Now I'm going bald so that's cool too.

ELI5: If space is a vacuum, how do rockets push against "nothing" to move forward?
 in  r/explainlikeimfive  7d ago

You're right. It's kind of similar to the last time my father pushed me away as a child. Without an opposing force to bring him back (e.g. love, sense of responsibility, etc), he kept traveling in the opposite direction from me and I never saw him again.

Sorry to hear about being rejected for a transplant, I didn’t realise that was a thing!

I could be wrong, but they may have been saying that they got a transplant and it was rejected by their scalp (i.e. it all fell out)?
