So, if the perpetrators are masked, and in unmarked cars with no identification, can you shoot them claiming you were being kidnapped?

u/TimeKillerAccount 6d ago
Legally yes. Realistically the law means absolutely nothing these days and you will just be murdered while Republicans cheer your death.

And this is another reason why free and fair elections will not happen again. All these people from Trump on down are breaking the law. They know if Dems get back in they will have to answer for it.

Hahahaha, that is hilarious. They won't answer for it, when Dems get back in power they will say "to heal our country..." and all will be forgiven.
Dems had 4 years to put Trump away for Jan 6th and did nothing. What happens over the next 4+ years will not come with consequences.

12
u/DraconicCDR 6d ago
There is a difference between them. Rs want to turn the country into a theocratic monarchy while the Ds would like to keep it a republic.
Make no mistake the Ds are better, but expecting them to actually do something is wishful thinking. Not holding traitors accountable in this country goes back to the Civil War.

I think it’s an issue you can’t call out Democrats for their feckless ways without someone screaming “Russian bot.”
You’re telling me you’re all absolutely fine with Chuck Schumer falling in line with the GOP? You’re cool with Pelosi shitting on AOC and getting an elderly cancer patient a position on the oversight committee? These corporate owned corpses aren’t on our side any more than any Republican cunt in power.

Looks at the current Democratic leadership and their actions over the past decade and a half while Republicans ran and continue to run roughshod over the constitution, sees them continuously do nothing about it, then calls a commenter "Putin" for pointing out that the Democrats literally do nothing but try to make amends with people that hate their guts.
Any time the Democratic base or progressives in the party try to enact change for the better, the Democrats rally their donors to run them out of town. I could name names, but it would be pointless to do so since you likely wouldn't listen any way.
You and the rest of the Democratic establishment need a wake-up call buddy.
2
u/Apart_Performance491 6d ago
I lost faith in the Dems when they failed to overturn the PATRIOT Act. Edward Snowden destroyed his own life so all of us could know about the government’s illegal mass surveillance of all of us. And what have the Dems done, other than expand those surveillance powers? The Dems are controlled opposition.

The choice is a shit choice in the first place, so there is no right answer. You have to decide what you would rather suffer. One option is to let them take you and end up kidnapped by criminals, or kidnapped by government agents and end up in a concentration camp style foreign prison, or be disappeared, or maybe getting really lucky and getting let go after being physically and possibly sexually assaulted and having your life ruined. The other option is to fight back and likely be executed on the spot, or viciously beaten and then have all the bad things from the other option happen anyways. The first gives you a small chance at an outcome that is only a little bad, while the second accepts that the worst is probably going to happen and at least let's you hurt the evil people that have decided to hurt you. Whole thing is just fucked.

Yes, they will propably outnumber and outgun you, so the notion that you can "just shoot them" is a naive fiction. Also, they are not going to warn you, but will jumping you at some random moment where you dont expect it and you will be handcuffed before you have time to react.
This is not an action movie where the hero can just fight 10 bad guys and win at any time.
→ More replies (1)2
u/TimeKillerAccount 6d ago
Dude, people already understand that. Very few people are thinking they are going to draw on 10 cops and come out on top. People are just tired of being oppressed and some prefer the idea that maybe they can get a couple of shots off and maybe kill a facist or two before they die, rather than let them kidnap you and send you to a prison to be tortured without any trial, evidence, or even allegations of any crime.
→ More replies (2)2

The general public is unfathomably clueless about how far along we are on this path. The complete takeover of the entire federal government by neofascists already happened, and people are finally like “huh, maybe we should protest?” That time was 10 years ago. We are so fucked.

Trumps actions show his beliefs and the way he responds to situations. Anyone can say anything from their mouths and there is no way of telling if they truly believe in a cause unless they prove it with their actions. Actions speak louder than words.
That being said, Trump's actions are proving he and his circle only care about themselves and not the American public and its allies. I mean what are the odds that at the end of all this we are all rich enough to afford healthcare, education, retirement, or basic necessities like food and gas? Don't get me started on housing and infrastructure. By the way, if Elon does succeed with AI and automating manufacturing, what good are the jobs he's allegedly bringing home? I'll cross my fingers and hope for a good outcome.

As a German who knows history I would advise every liberal American to leave the country while you can or at least move to a deep blue state. Same goes for minorities, but even more strongly. White liberals can still lay low, but all others better take precautions now. What is happening right now is exactly what Hitler did and there is no reason to assume that the Trump administration is not going to round you up, put you in jail or forced labour or at some point just flatout execute you.

Call it what it is.
Anti-intellectualism, people who think ReTweet on Twitter is the end-game of democracy, the ability to press a button on an Apple iPhone touch-screen gives them equal thinking. That short-length clever device button-pushing is democracy itself. That Fox News channel changing is equal to MSDNC. That Robert Reich's opinion is just as democratically equal to Donald Trump's, since Trump got a degree in Economics in May 1968, he is an expert on tariff wordbuzz.
“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” ― Isaac Asimov, 1980. Ask yourself: Is MAGA a cult? Is Twitter a cult? is chanting "JD Vance couch couch couch" a cult?

Why is everything fascism and nazi’s? It does a disservice to legitimate criticism. Can’t we disagree and condemn bad actions for what they are instead of mischaracterizing? Like unless they are goose stepping into Poland, use another example. History is filled with better comparisons and referring to everything as a fascist and nazism, degrades the actions the 3rd reich took and lessens its historical significance and lessons will not be learned effectively.
