I don’t even have one at my highschool. There are lockers, but they don’t belong to any kids. I just imagine they’d be pretty useless.
Like trying to find them, remembering your passcode, and doing it all under the 5 minutes you have to get to one class to another.

A girl at my high school was fighting and when the officer tried to hold her down she kept resisting so he handcuffed her. Her esponse was "jokes on you my body likes it anyways" and let's just say everyone watching went quiet.

I’ve only ever gotten A’s with a few B’s through high school. I’m in 11th grade taking AP Phys 1. First semester, I barely got a 90% in the class which was super awesome and I put a lot of time and work into that. My teacher absolutely stinks at teaching and is trying a flipped classroom approach to where we study everything on Khan Academy and do only labs in class. The labs are entirely self led and he does not give us instruction or much help. He does not assign any homework or assignments besides tests so we really have nowhere to practice. It was also just a lot easier because we only covered Unit 1 (Kinematics) and Unit 2 (Forces) throughout the whole semester.
Anyways, we are in the second semester and my teacher is speed-running the rest of the content with the same flipped classroom approach, and it has been absolutely bonkers. I have a 61% right now but I’ve been doing test retakes (one retake allowed per test) for the past few weeks and by the end I should have a 76% in the class. I’ve worked really hard and it’s a little disheartening to end the semester with a significant drop from the last, but at the end of the day, I’m proud of myself because I really tried my best and that’s what matters. Is a C all that bad of a grade? I just want to hear what you guys think.

Im so socially tired of high school.
I do think about how I will probably miss doing extra curriculars and having a closer community as opposed to uni, but I also hate how close everything is. I go to a pretty small school, my class is about 90 kids and litteraly everyone knows everything. As someone who has worked towards improving my GPA and rank drastically, people noticed, toxic people who are obsessed with ranks and these people monitor my every move it makes me so uncomfortable. I know I sound full of my self but I am being dead serious, one guy even made a list of the top 10 and I didn't tell anyone my rank but eventually he found out and now everyone knows. People also always compare me to my smarter friend who is salutatorian, saying I leech off of him and that I just sit there, it makes me SO mad bc i built up my own stats brick by brick as someone who was depressed af freshman and sophomore year in comparison to my friend who has always been in the top and praised.
I am a junior so I'm just trying to thug it out but everyone pmo, every failure I make, everyone notices and it's exhausting. I can't wait to be more independent and singular, without a bunch of random kids peeking over my shoulder. And not just that, but I feel like all of my friendships are FAKE, and it makes me so sad realizing that every friendship I have, they either stopped caring about me AT ALL (because honestly I have been very secluded since prioritizing my grades and none of my friends care about theirs, they think i take it too seriously and have ultimately lost any interest in being my friend) infact, noone went to my birthday party because all 7 of them got "busy" even tho I planned it like 2 weeks prior and they told me they were going until 1 hour before. And I feel that the other half of my friends only value me because they think that I am smart, and once they see me fail or realize I am not infact a prodigy or perfect, they lose respect.
I just can't wait to finish my studies, pursue my dream career, and meet genuine people I want to spend the rest of my life with.

Okay so yesterday students of the month were announced. And this one girl got student of the month for a few reasons, one of them being that apparently at the beginning of the semester, she went up to one of her teachers and asked to be seated next to a student with a disability.
Like. WHAT.
Why? Why is this even something to congratulate? It's like "oh, look at her, she willingly sat next to the disabled kid, what a model she is". Imagine how the disabled kid in question felt hearing that! You're basically telling them "People should be rewarded just for sitting next to you."
I get it was probably done with a good intention but it's so freaking ableist and insensitive. Gosh.

for some reason, my parents think anything below a B is failing, when it's not, I literally try to get a C or better and my parents think a C is failing and if I get anything below that grade I'm definitely going to get my ass whooped by my dad. it's like one D, I can bring that up in like a week or two, and if I try to convince either of them that a C or higher can be passing, they'll say a B is passing. I'm genuinely trying to pass my classes with a C and my parents think it's failing. what can I do about this?

so im entering high school next year BUT I would like to know if there's any way I could skip 9th grade or enter college in 11th. i was set back a year because of the cutoff(if ydk what it is, its when you have to go to school a year later because you're born between early Sep and late Dec) and because I got cutoff I always wanted some way to skip a grade or enter into uni earlier. so if anyone has done this before, please give me tips :)

Any thoughts on my courses for sophomore year? (Theology is required and so is English 2, honors is just extra work outside of school.)
r/highschool • u/Senorita_Osom • 8h ago
I'm in ninth grade and I'm in an honors class (the equivalent of that in my country) and this year I started going to university courses alongside school which is only available to my class. Thus one course was incredibly difficult and I failed the exam at the end, earning a measly 52% out of the required 80% to pass. I was devastated and quickly signed up for the second testing round. I'm now studying for it and it's the most depressing and hardest thing I've done. I'm tired and nervous constantly. The test is in three days and I'm trying my best to study for it, but I can't focus for long periods of time. I come to my mom to tell her about every little ebit of progress I make but she just keeps reminding me how little time I have left, berating me for my previous low score not affecting my efforts to improve, and generally telling me it isn't good enough. Might be worth mentioning that my grandma died three weeks ago and my mom hasn't been sleeping very well since, she and her mom were incredibly close. She hasn't been in a right state since then. I just want my efforts to be appreciated but am aware that it might appear as though I don't care or am simply lazy.

When i was in High School I got bullied in 9th and 10th grade. I noticed as i was getting bullied my Teachers just sat there and watched or ignored it. Still till this day i will never understand why??. I once tried to tell my Teacher about the things that the students were saying to me and she told me not to be a tattletale!!. #YEAH!!. I will never for the life of me understand how a Teacher can sit there and watch a student get mentally and emotionally abused.

Hello! I don't know if this is the right place to post this on but I am starting an online book club afterschool. Likely having meetings on the first of every month to discuss books and chose our next one. ID checks will be required for every new member; a school ID, permit, drivers licenses, etc. We plan to read more older books and that type of genre, like White Nights (which is our current book). This is great for college applications in the future and just to expand your current reading list. Here is the code, please join with a personal email.

The thing is that I have never hit lower 50s before EVER when it came to tests. Am I giving up subconsciously with school? It just feels that I work the same if not even harder but the results are becoming worse.

I'm in Honors English III with a teacher I, honestly, don't really like.
We were forced to read The Scarlet Letter, the book was torture, had to read it in like 7 days with NO time in class and quizzes every other day. Then a massive portfolio assignment, followed by an in-class seminar, followed by a rough draft essay.
Now to the story:
I wrote this essay, and I can say with complete confidence I did it myself unless I'm suddenly going psychotic. But I turn it in and it's flagged as 100% AI. Teacher asks for my doc history, I share bc I know I don't have anything to hide, but apparently there was a saving error or something on my google doc history, so it looks like I wrote 3 full paragraphs in a singular minute, which, I did not. I think it was because I might've been writing in offline mode, as I wasn't connected to internet. I don't know.
She gave me a zero for this assignment, and contacted both Master Chief (I'm in JROTC) and administration. I wrote back a massive email as a result, but I know nobody is going to believe me. It looks bad, I look guilty, but I wrote it all on my own, and of course things go like this? Why does this happen to me? The original text looks "not like [my] authentic writing style", which I don't really have one, seeing as I'm forever pushing myself to the brink of insanity via perfectionism.
There's no proof on my side, and I don't know what to do. This all happened yesterday, I've gotten no responses from my email. I don't know what to do.

If you’re running against more popular people how would you win? Also, from a college standpoint, how much does the type of position matter? Ex vice president vs treasurer vs historian vs secretary
