Thinking of selling
I’m thinking of selling my 2011 Subaru Liberty GT Premium 2.5L Wagon 4WD, it’s a manual and has 150k on the odometer. How much would I get for it?

Can I make my Crosstrek beep when locking the doors from the inside then closing the door when getting out? (2022 key start)
My 2014 Crosstrek would beep if the locked the doors from the inside then closed the door and I liked that as a confirmation my doors locked but my 2022 doesn’t do that

IDOING head unit (2019 outback)
Like many of you, my outbacks touchscreen has failed, and for about the same price as replacing it I decided to get a better one instead of another doomed to fail stock unit. Wall of text warning-Scroll for TLDR.
Once I (FINALLY) got it installed, so far the unit functions great. 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5 stars for the head unit itself. The equalizer and tuning options are great. You can really tune it in especially if you have aftermarket speakers like I do. Steering wheel controls work great. Lots of settings and options to play with. My only complaint with the actual unit is I can’t get YouTube videos to play I can get audio, but I get a black video box. I don’t know if that’s intentional, or a glitch, but I hope I can fix it. Installation? installation on the other hand….
Plug-and-play they said, super easy super great. Only one on the market with everything you need ! easiest install ever they said. I don’t know if I can say where I purchased this from on here, but it was not directly from the manufacturer, and you can easily figure it out if you google Subaru idoing head unit.
The only thing that was worse than figuring out how to install this into my 19’ outback was the customer support . Do yourself a favor and don’t go for the pricier 8gb version like I did, and don’t expect this to be as easy as swapping it out, like I did..
IT IS NOT simply PLUG AND PLAY. there are several crucial steps you need to know to install this unit properly that are NOT INCLUDED in ✨the worst ✨printed instructions that I have ever seen, color-coded pictures printed in black in white
🤦♂️🤷🏻♂️ that’s not even the worst part of the completely useless borderline incoherent, Microsoft paint instructions they loosely stuffed into the box. They say to REMOVE the bottom part of the unit and then “fits perfectly”
… you would have to SAW INTO THE UNIT to do that..
and and it’s completely unnecessary.
Plug and play?! Plug my FOOT in your ASS! Customer support stated that they DO NOT HAVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS UNIT WHATSOEVER AT THIS TIME, completely ignored me when I asked about the return policy.
Instead they asked me to send them several pictures of their own unit (which at that time was sitting in an auto shop trying to figure this thing out) stringing me along for days before admitting they don’t even have any instructions at all.
TLDR: It took me over ONE week, TWO mechanics, THREE hundred dollars, and FOUR hours of pouring through YouTube videos for me to figure out how to install. This is not the first head unit I’ve installed but it is the most confusing. I WOULD RECOMMEND this head unit, but I do not recommend you get it from that 3rd party website. Buy directly from the manufacturer, I hear their customer support is pretty good. and understand it is not a plug-in play solution! no matter how badly they want to market it in that way!

2005 Outback 2.5 sohc N/A Rebuild or engine swap
Last weekend I bought a 2005 outback with no compression and signs of valve touchdown on all 4 cylinders. I pulled the motor and did a complete tear down and don’t know if I should buy a rebuild kit or just buy a used engine for it. I found a good rebuild kit with valves for around $350, but I have no idea what machining costs are going to be, and the only plus I see of rebuilding is I know what’s been done, and it’s not an engine with unknown history. The end plan is to resell or trade the car, the body is very clean for the year and only has 86k miles, the timing belt failed and bent valves.

Rod knock or piston slap?
I posted about this the other day that my 2006 Impreza ej20 had a second long rattle when it first started up. today i've just realised that it also happens when i accelerate, i don't think its rod knock since its not that loud, but since it still happens when i accelerate but not when its idling that rules out piston clapping does it not? (CEL) light is for pre cat o2 sensor. I also have no clue why the video is so quiet.

Mechanical Help 2018 Subaru Outback Christmas tree
So out of nowhere while driving on cruise control at 70 mph, the Brake light, AT Oil Temp light, and traction control light came on. The Brake light and Traction Control light were solid, and AT Oil Temp light was flashing. I pulled over and turned my car off, waited 2 mins and turned it back on and no more lights. Drove home and ran my OBD 2 scanner and no codes came up.
I did just fill my gas maybe 20 miles before this happened, but the gas cap didn’t seem to be loose.
Any idea what happened?

Car Mods OEM vs eBay Sport Mesh Front Grill?
Been looking into the sport mesh front grills lately for my Subaru and have noticed the price gap between OEM at around $250-300 vs the countless number of identical looking ones on eBay for $45 or so. Whats the difference? Is it worth it to get the OEM or are they the same thing and can save a lot of money going eBay?

Motors Monday Nothing better then DIY
I know it isn’t Monday yet.. But made my own refurbished engine insulation for the crosstrek.
Before purchase of vehicle there must have been an engine start up without the oil cap on or the filter being the proper tightness, etc. (can’t tell exactly what caused this). But while rebuilding the FB20. I was noticing this like thin layer of oil just coating everything in the engine bay. I just kept hunting after this mysterious issue and where it was coming from. Come to find out. The engine insulation was soaked in engine oil and leaking or soaking engine bay in oil.
So I removed the insulation, with the intention of purchasing brand new insulation. I decided too try and to DIY. Resulting in soaking with soap and rinsing insulation a few times a day for the last month. Well from doing that I ruined the integrity of the insulation cover. So once I felt the majority of oil was removed (Mostly). I used thick outside fabric ( don’t mind the blue but don’t like it either) but hey can’t complain, it was free! Purchased new insulation grommet and fabric spray adhesive.! Took my time letting glue cure and popped mounting holes and let er ripp!
Let’s all agree. Super extra right but the pride I feel currently to accomplish something out my mind too is priceless
I’m very happy with how it turned out and how much more sentimental value it has for me now . Feeling very proud of my DIY fb-20 rebuild!
What do you guys think.? Yeh/NEH?!

2006 Outback worth it depsite gasket issues
Hi Everyone.
Think this through with me, please.
My father-in-law offered to give us his 2006 Outback. It's a 4-cylinder, 2.5 liter engine, with 50k Miles.
We had a 2009 Legacy that we traded in because of gasket issues. With this car, would it be worth it to just repair the gasket and keep it, or trade it in, along with another car that we can get about $5K for another older, low-mile car?
We drive an average of 6k miles a year, so we tend to have older, low-mileage cars,

Is it safe to drive my car with a cylinder misfire
So my car's check engine light came on the other day and blinked and went out. So I could continue to drive for a few days and then it came back on started blinking again so I took it to AutoZone and they said it was a cylinder 2 misfire. I asked the guy if my car was safe to drive and he said maybe people do it all the time but he doesn't recommend it. The check engine light since then went away but I'm still pretty paranoid. I barely drove it these past few days. My car drives pretty smooth but lately it shakes a little bit then stops. I am supposed to get my car looked at Thursday. But I am afraid to drive my car back and forth to work it might take the day off to fix my car early somewhere else. I asked my dad for advice and he told me that he would drive it to work until Thursday but IDK

Q&A 2025 Subaru Forrester Premium
Mid March I took delivery of my 2nd Subie and I’m loving it! 27.9 mpg and over 2000 miles already. (Yes, I drive a lot for work!) I have one question for this group I haven’t been able to answer in reading the owners manual. Let’s say I’m listening to the radio. Then I decide I don’t want to listen to the radio anymore. How do I turn it off and not put it into mute mode? If I press the left radio button, that mutes the radio b\c the sound icon with the little x comes on at the top of my center console display. If I hold that button down, it turns off the display which isn’t what I want. Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated!

While flashing my 2011 WRX for a smog check in California my AP randomly lost connection. how screwed am I? Every time now I try to connect the AP it keeps saying it’s not connecting. Any pointers? This is my first time having this problem, second time having to smog and didn’t have problems last time.
