Graduation Lunch William and Mary

Upvotes

I'm looking for a good restaurant to take my nephew after graduation from William and Mary. Anyone have any suggestions that aren't a tourist trap? Type of food doesn't matter, just not overly fancy.

Teen getting first car.

Upvotes

What would be decent for a first car? I have some saved money to put down and finance the rest, I'm just at a loss for what would be a good choice. It needs to be reliable, preferably good gas mileage as well because I'm going to be travelling a lot.

3 row/ 7 seater recommendations that drive somewhat responsively?

Upvotes

Hi all, I'm looking at getting a 7 seater and with all this uncertainty around tariffs going around, considering getting one now rather than later. I really like driveability (one of my current cars is a MT Mazda 3 hatch), so looking for a 7 seater *that doesn't handle like a truck but is at least somewhat powerful/fun to drive. *Preferably a hybrid for the fuel economy *Only other features I need are Remote start, Heated front seats and Steering wheel to survive winters. *Android Auto compatibility - preferably wireless
*Open to both buying new/leasing but with the above Android Auto requirement, I guess I'm limited to the last few years models and CPO options are practically close to new car prices now!

Some options I've looked at are *Minivans - Toyota Sienna mainly - like the space, sliding doors etc, but driveability sounds like a nightmare. Plus the Mrs is really against minivans right now. *Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Max - ~60K new, Toyota reliability, but looks like there are some issues around hood stability. Even saw a post on safety concerns that I haven't looked into fully yet but was concerning. *Volvo XC90 hybrid - stretches my budget a bit, but the car looks great. *Mazda CX90 - love my M3 hatch and the Mazda driveability but the 3rd row space is really low, even for SUVs. Also looked at the Kia Telluride and Carnival but I keep seeing posts about high insurance and being theft targets...

So, super confused right now, including on buying vs leasing with interest rates being 5-7% now and the potential price increases. Any suggestions welcome!

Trade my CX-30 in for a Ford Explorer?

Upvotes

Should I trade my 2024 CX-30 for a 2018 Ford Explorer XLT? I like the CX-30 and its engine is bulletproof. SkyActiv is an amazing line, and Mazda drives smooth and is pretty reliable.

That said, I like space…a lot. This Ford Explorer I’ve been eyeing is spacious as all hell and is 4x4.

I own my CX-30 (no payments) and if I were to switch to the Explorer I wouldn’t have to have any payments either. I’d just about break even after taxes and titles.

CX-30 has 20,000 miles. Explorer has 60,000 miles.

ps (I have a lot of hard inquiries and I don’t want to make my credit score lower)

Should I Buy a 2020 Acura RDX AWD with 170,000+ Miles?

Upvotes

Hey Reddit,

I’m considering a used 2020 Acura RDX AWD with just over 170,000 miles on it. The price is tempting, and it looks well-kept, but the mileage has me second-guessing.

Is this a smart buy or a ticking time bomb? I’m mainly looking for something reliable for the next few years. Are there any common mechanical issues with this model that tend to show up around this mileage?

Would I be better off spending the same amount on a slightly older vehicle with lower mileage?

Thanks for any advice!

Need buying advice for used SUB

Upvotes

Hello everyone. And thank you for reading my post. I currently drive a 2012 Nissan Altima and have 80k miles on it and kept in a very good condition. I am planning to upgrade to a mid size SUV. I have added accessories like touch screen and backup camera but I wish I could have safety features like blindspot detection and lane assist. I like having advanced tech in my car. My budget is tight around 25k and fine with any SUV starting 2020 year. I would love to buy a luxury one like Lexus or Acura. Would be starting a new life with my partner if that matters. I am 36 years and currently in NJ

Which SUV would be best bang for buck for 25k right now?

Is this a Good Buy? 2004 Lexus RX330

Upvotes

Helping a family friend to purchase an older used Lexus. Will be a second vehicle for them. Have found one that is asking $4500 with 160,000 miles (257,500 km). The speedometer is actually in miles which is strange for us Canadians but workable I think? Came from Arizona 2 or 3 years in and the current owner has had it ever since.

There is some rust on the hood (looks like rock chips), tires are old, cracked windshield, front wheel drive. No accidents. Says the vehicle runs very well and has been maintained. It looks in good condition inside and out in the photos.

The owner has confirmed that the timing belt has not been changed thus far.

To me this seems pretty well-priced but looking for some feedback from those who know this vehicle better than I do. What do you all think?

Are there other potential issues we should be asking about for this age/mileage Lexus? TIA

should i buy a FORD RANGER 4X4 3.2 XLT diesel 2013 or a MITSUBISHI TRITON 4X4 L200 Gl 3.2 diesel 2013?

Upvotes

i wanted to buy a ranger from a friend of mine because of how incredible it felt while driving, but every mechanic friend of mine said it was a bomb of a car (in the sense that it was unreliable and costy to fix if it exploded on me).
Then i saw this mitsubishi l200 for approximately the same price but i dont really know about the truck and was looking for advice on wich one i should buy.

im looking for a reliable and powerful truck to drive and i was weary because of what i heard about the ranger

Car recommendations

Upvotes

Looking to buy a car. Sedan or hatchback ideally. Something that won’t give me too many headaches either. Coming from my dad’s Raptor, I wanted to see if there were any quick and fun options maybe even with some room to mod. I'm in college, but I’m making good money from a job I’m working. I’d be willing to spend ~$40K new or used. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

17, considering a Chevrolet Cruze for my first car

Upvotes

Hey everybody,

I am 17 and am considering buying my first car. I found a 1.4L 2014 Chevrolet Cruze with 186,000 Km (115,455 miles) on it. It is in great condition and is on sale for $4500 CAD. Should I buy it?

~$60k budget, is Corvette the answer? Stock for stock

Upvotes

Really looking for something with a 0-60 of 3.4 seconds or less without having AWD. Is this the only answer? Don’t want an EV - gas cars only. Would prefer the car have wireless CarPlay.

$350/m 2yr lease on Dodge Charger Daytona R/T EV?

Post image
Upvotes

This is the best offer ive seen so far pitting 4 sales managers against each other: $9,840 to rent this car for 2 years.

But thats only $1,100 over my goal of $8,750, or 25 payments of $350.

Am I crazy for asking them to discount these 40% to lease it?

(I know this car sucks and internet hates it, my other car is an 02 Camaro SS 6spd for balance)

Truck under $35,000

Upvotes

I’m looking for some opinions and input on trucks I should look at for under $35,000. I’d like to have CarPlay & the ability to tow at least a 16’ bass boat. I frequent trips to Northern PA and sometimes Michigan in the winter, so 4X4 is a must, as well as a crew cab. I’ve been heavily looking at 2020 F150’s with the 3.5 EcoBoost (although I come from a GM family 😬) but I’m just curious on what other great options would be. Any opinions are appreciated!

Nice fun car to daily and commute?

Upvotes

I wanna do some research before I get a job so when I get the job I’ll be ready to buy a car, but I’m thinking of buying a car in cash so I don’t have monthly payments eating my paycheck, I have a good amount of money saved up, not really sure how much to spend on a car, maybe like 10-20k, I know I can get a really cheap car but If I’m gonna be driving it I at least want to drive something nice, I’m thinking a c class or 3 series, I know maintenance is more for German cars but I don’t plan on keeping the car for too long, maybe a year or two max, then I plan on selling it and getting a good amount of the money back, any advice or recommendations?

What car should I buy

My name is given, i am 20 year of age and live in Canada. I’m looking to get my first car. Willing to spend 15k with 1,500 down. I want a car that’s going to get me from point A to point B and something that’s going to last me a long, long time. I’m just afraid because I keep hearing people getting into a car then wanting to sell it one year later and ending up in negative equity. I just want to be safe for when I decide it’s time for an upgrade.

best reliable commuter

I'm going off to college and need something that will not give me any problems in the next 4 years since i'm gonna be broke i only want to spend money on basic maintenance if possible. As long as it's good on gas i'm ok with it and not a prius i genuinely don't want a Prius but everything else is on the table

my budget is 10k but i would like to spend around 8.5k on the car. Does anyone have suggestions on what to buy? i originally was looking at 2020 hyundai Elantras because of how good on gas it was but keep hearing people saying there trans blew around 80k and with my budget i can't buy new so all the ones id be able to buy would be high miles.

please let me know what you guys think i should buy and around how many miles i should be looking at when buying it let me know if you have any more questions to help me
