Wilds [MH:Wilds] Endgame Meta Builds Compilation

2.1k Upvotes

>>> If the Google Doc images look blurry on mobile, try opening them through the Google Docs app or through a browser. <<<

Currently Updated for: Launch

With every new Monster Hunter game come new meta strategies and new ways to build the armor sets for your hunter. After some thought recollection, the time has finally come to present what the community has come up with when trying to figure out how you can optimize your gameplay in this brand new title.

The goal of this thread is, like the previous ones, to offer a selection of some of the best builds that have been minmaxed for damage and can be used for regular farming by any player with good enough experience on their weapon, or who's willing to gain that experience.

These guides are just tools conceived for people who like to learn how to optimize their own gameplay and figure out optimal ways to make use of what is available in the game, or who simply want an easier time farming while not giving up on basic skill requirements; nobody is forced to use them if they don't want to, and everyone is free to alter them at will for their own gameplay.
You can also use these guides simply as a starting point for when you want to try out a new weapon and learn the new ways of playing the game that are associated with them.

The albums collected here have been chosen among the available ones both for their correctness in terms of math/functionality and for their readability/accessibility (you can find here an explanation of my logic when compiling these threads). The albums may not be definitive in all of their details, as the game is very new and we're still discovering new stuff daily, but if you wish to improve any of these albums or cooperate with math and testing feel free to contact their authors directly and to give them suggestions or feedback this way.

The authors of the albums are also responsible for updating them with any new Title Update (TU) that will be added to the game. I will however notify on top of the thread whenever all the albums have been updated for the current patch of the game.

I would finally like to thank the community at Mathalos Nest for helping to double check or improve the content of the albums (research is still being done daily there, so if you're interested in helping feel free to join), as well as all the numerous testers, dataminers and modders that allowed us to have more accurate information about the skills and the way the game works.

I won't always be able to read this thread and I can't be the universal intermediary between users and authors. If therefore you find something in the content of an album that you think is wrong or may need fixing, please contact their author(s) directly through the means indicated in their albums.

DISCLAIMER

As usual, here's what you should expect (and not expect) from this compilation.

  1. This compilation focuses on damage-oriented builds aimed to show how it is possible to maximize your damage output within the assumption of a relatively optimized gameplay. Anyone is free to adapt these builds to their playstyle by replacing any damage skills with the comfort/survival skill they want, need or prefer. Everyone is also free not to use them if they don't like them.

  2. The albums are only about endgame builds and assume that you have access to the entire content of the game (HR41+). Progression sets are not covered here, although any author is free to add a progression section to their albums.

  3. The sets are mainly built and calculated so that anyone can use them for solo play. Multiplayer is obviously still a consideration, but the sets are supposed to work regardless if you're playing with others or not.

  4. The builds are meant for regular farming and not for speedrunning, which is a specific practice with its own rules and goals (although speedruns can obviously give some inspiration about tactics you can adopt in your regular gameplay). If you're interested in speedrunning this game I highly recommend to ignore this compilation and to join a speedrunning Discord and/or to learn by watching speedruns instead.

Wilds Maximum Might Buffed in TU1

I haven't seen anyone mentioned this so I post it.

In previous games and initial release of Wilds, MM has a 2s grace time that allows your stamina not full without deactivating the skill.

But the timer will not be reset unless MM is deactivated and re-activated again.

For example, I tested in Rise, with longsword, a front dodge followed by walking (walk can regen stamina immediately) takes about 114 frames from stamina consumption to stamina full recovery. So you can keep MM still activated. But the second dodge will deactivate MM after just 6 frames, because the timer is not reset.

In Wilds TU1 update, the mechanism was changed - If the MM is activated and your stamina is full, the grace timer will be reset.

That means, you can do infinity dodges as long as you wait for the stamina fully regen each time. And if you run for about 1s and wait for the stamina fully recover, you can repeat this and MM will never be deactivated.

This significantly increases the uptime of MM.

Wilds Whiteflame Torrent Mechanism Explanation

Just like Flayer and other similar skills, only actions which flag "UseSkillAdditionalDamage" is true can trigger Whiteflame Torrent.
It has a 3s interval cooldown time between damages that are able to trigger Whiteflame Torrent.

Whiteflame Torrent works like a "Cirtical".

  • The first hit has 33% chance to trigger a 50 or 30 (in Low Rank) fixed damage that ignores hitzone values.
  • If the first hit failed to trigger, the second hit (after 3s interval cd) has a 50% chance.
  • If the second hit failed, the third hit (after 3s interval cd) has a 100% chance to trigger this damage.

So the expectation is 2.005≈2 hits to trigger Whiteflame Torrent damage.

If the real combat time is 3min, the maximum valid hit count is 3*60/3=60, will have 60/2*50=1500 total damage.

My mod MHWilds Overlay have updated to track this damage.

Wilds Zoh shia armor effect testing

Copy pasting this from the post i did in the general MH wilds discussion to here, since it's also relevant.

I did some testing to figure out the regen rate of the zoh shia armor and what it is effected by, utilizing some debug info to see the raw hp numbers. For reference, the player has 150 max hp with food buffs up.

The 2 piece set bonus heals you for 1 hp every 2 seconds when you are not in the red bar. The full 4 piece set doubles this to 1 every second. This is not scaled by recovery speed, but is scaled by recovery up. With full recovery up, you restore 1.3 hp instead of 1 hp. And yes, the game does track fractional hp values. It is also effected by the medic bonus from the honey in food.

So to get the most healing from the set bonus, you would want to use recovery up to increase the healing, and recovery speed to heal through the red part of the bar and allow it to kick in sooner. Immunizer and hunting horn buffs also help here. Since if you healed for 1.4 hp/sec when not in red hp, and 4 hp/sec in red hp, 100 damage that is 50 red, 50 permanent would take 48 seconds to heal, vs 100 if you had 1 hp/sec in red, and 1 when not in red from the set.

As a point of comparison, the arkveld heal on hit set is 6/10 hp after 7 seconds of hitting (for most weapons, slow weapons get 14/20, fast weapons get 3/5), and the heal on wound is 25/50.

Wilds Udra/Gore Greatsword build for folks who like Speed Eating 2

Upvotes

Armor:

  • Udra Mirehelm B
  • Arkvulcan Mail B / Numinous Shroud B (your choice of WEX or Agitator)
  • Udra Mirebraces A
  • Gore Coil B
  • Gore Greaves B
  • Exploiter / Challenger Charm 2

Skills:

  • Weakness Exploit 5 / Agitator 5
  • Antivirus 3
  • Counterstrike 3
  • Maximum Might 3
  • Constitution 2
  • Earplugs 2 (or more Resentment if you don’t need it, Agitator variant gets spare Lvl3 slot, I recommend Flayer 1)
  • Speed Eating 2
  • Burst 1
  • Flinch Free 1
  • Resentment 1
  • Udra and Gore set bonuses

Feel comfortable recommending this now that Maximum Might has been buffed to reduce reliance on Fulgur set bonus.

While playing with the armor set searcher, I found that Udra Helm B and Braces A are particularly efficient for the skills Counterstrike, Resentment, and Speed Eating - matching the efficiency of Counter Talisman 3. If you like Speed Eating, then every skill here is relevant to Greatsword.

This is nice because Udra set bonus is quite easily accessible for Greatswords - Offset and Tackle give us excellent Resentment uptime! Now the Udra set bonus is at most only 20 damage (25 on wounds) every 5 seconds, but think about it like this:

  • Let’s be super conservative and assume it’s 20 damage every 20s
  • In a 6 minute hunt, Udra set bonus procs 18 times.
  • 18 x 20 is 360 damage
  • If a monster has 24k HP, that’s 1.5% DPS
  • That’s basically the same damage you get from 5% Affinity, and realistically you’re probably getting more than 18 procs!

With the stealth buff to MM, this amount of damage should be competitive (or exceed if I’m underestimating Udra set bonus) with the damage you’d get from slightly more MM uptime via Fulgur set bonus in Fulgur/Gore builds.

In terms of comparing skill efficiency to Fulgur/Gore - the Udra/Gore build essentially turns 3 (2 in Agitator variant) of your Lvl3 skills into Resentment 1 + 2x Lvl2 slots + Speed Eating 2, which is a pretty good deal if you consider Speed Eating 2 mandatory.

So if you like Speed Eating, this Udra / Gore combo seems pretty nice!

Wilds Confused by Wilds IG charge attack, am I missing something or is it just wonky?

I'm a series veteran but hardly ever played IG before. I'm trying to get into it now and am struggling with unpredictable behavior from the descending charged slash attack. I've noticed a few things:

  1. If I dodge while charging and keep B held, it loses its charge, and may either recharge much more slowly than usual, or not charge at all until I release the button and hold it again.

  2. If I hold B from a standstill, with no inputs prior, there's like a 75% it charges as expected, and a 25% chance it launches the uncharged attack before starting to charge.

  3. Sometimes it just ignores the input depending on what I'm doing, especially when vaulting. Seems like it doesn't accept the input if you're in the middle of certain animations, but others are fine.

I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason to how this attack will behave, and it messes up my rhythm and makes landing offsets even more difficult. Anyone know?

And before anyone asks, yes, I have all the extracts

Wilds Managed to get a somewhat decent Mizu IG set!!

Just to be clear, this set is OBVIOUSLY not meta, and i would probably be better off using zoh shia/artian stuff, however, the Mizu weapons aestethics fuck hard so i wanted to make it work, so! i managed to scrap by a set that reaches 100% affinity pretty damn consistently, has comfort evasion skills and lvl 5 crit boost!

• Mizutsune insect glaive with lvl 3 crit boost deco and lvl 2 and 1 level of crit eye - G. Odogaron Beta helm with maximum might jewel • Mizutsune chestplate with an evade extender jewel and another maximum might • Mizutsune gloves with a weakness exploit deco • Mizutsune waist with another weakness exploit, the third max might and 1 divine blessing • Mizutsune pants with weakness exploit • weakness exploit charm

So, all this amounts to:

• Mizu set bonus 2 • Crit boost 5 - Crit eye 1 • Crit element 1 • Weakness exploit 5 • Burst 5 • Constitution 3 • Maximum might 3 • Evade extender 2 • Evade Window 2 • Divine blessing 1

In game, having bubble blight, crit eye and maximum might gives you exactly 70% affinity on your glaive, and it ends up being 100% thanks to weakness exploit, and this conditions are not hard to achieve at all, the evasion skills are really awesome because Glaive lacks meaningful defense so being able to dance around the monster feels great. I want to repeat, i know for a fact this is NOT a meta build and it’s probably far from it but i would still like to hear opinions and maybe some suggestions? i dont wanna hear actual glaive builds recommendations since im doing this solely for the drip 😭 Ive heard burst is good but is it like lvl 5 good? im not that sure honestly

Wilds Was sns' focus strike buffed?

I'm seeing crazy numbers on the focus strike 500-950 + the ticks. I don't remember seeing that before, and on the dummy I do normal damage.

Also it seems offensive guard now reset at any time you don't have to wait for it to end

Wilds Light Bow Gun Burst Step

Burst Step/Pierce with Rey Dau gun is raw meta... Question is, do you still burst step with elemental weapon too or what do you with elemental?

Wilds Is the Mizutsuna LBG Good For Pierce Burst Step?

I haven't unlocked it yet so I can't compare, but since LBG can do a burst step playstyle, and that could theoretically easily proc the Mizutsune 4 piece, that's 21% affinity from the weapon skill, and another 15% from the built in affinity on the weapon. Plus it has 6 ammo for pierce. But since I haven't unlocked the weapon yet, I can't check what mods it has, so I don't know if it can truly compare to the Rey Dau LBG. Any thoughts?

Wilds Offensive guard or crit boost on Zoh Shia lance?

Wilds LS Build with 5 pieces of Zoh Shia

Hey all big fan of this sub and community. Wanted to get some thoughts on this build I’m using with 4 pieces of Zoh Shia armor and the Zoh Shia LS.

Any recommendations or changes y’all would recommend?

Wilds Bowgun Seikret changes

Wanted to test what exactly they did to the HBG and LBG on Seikret as they just said "adjusted" and holy shit they nerfed the hell out of it.

The numbers - no crit on normal ammo using an artian HBG and the Rey dau LBG done in the training range

HBG(off Seikret) 41x3=123

HBG(on Seikret)15x3=45

LBG(off Seikret)19x3=57

LBG(on Seikret)7x3=21

So it's safe to say that Seikret combat is effectively dead for the bowguns

Wilds Are the Mizu Greaves B anything decent?

I'm seeing that they have Burst 2 and a single 3-slot, so I feel like that might be a nice piece to accompany Gore's 4-piece? I did a quick rough build for DBs and managed to get Burst 5, Adrenaline Rush 3, Evade Window 4, Constitution 4, Coalesence 3, and Antivirus 3, which is slightly better than what the pinned meta post for DBs has pre-patch, I believe? However, I may be missing something, I am still rather new to the min maxing side of MH.

Wilds Max Might stealth buff affecting Hammer?

Max Might got a stealth buff where it doesn't fall off nearly as quickly. The thing is, Hammer has lots of stamina drain even if you try to minimise charge step/roll/charging, so I'm curious if people think this moves the needle on Fulgore or if we can afford to switch to 4 pc Gore.

Wilds Dealing with insane chip damage on Lance?

Basically the title. Really high chip damage wasn't really a thing in World until the final couple monsters if you had a decent build, but in Wilds I'm already coming up against really high chip damage, with max lvl guard, against attacks from monsters like tempered Gore and Zoh Shia. I've been trying to hit more perfect guards and play some evade lance, but I don't play lance so I can dodge attacks or the need to have perfect timing against half the attacks from these monsters. My understanding of Guard Up is that the reduction in damage is only for unblockable attacks so I don't think that would help any either.

Does lance now just require perfect timing in order to keep you from sheathing every couple attacks to heal or am I missing something?

Wilds Question about the weapons in the new update

Upvotes

I use the gore magala considering how good it is, but I have a couple questions about the newer weapons. Are they better than the artisan weapons because I’ve been using them now and they’re pretty powerful. As for weapons, I’m running the ones you get from Zoa and the bubble monster forget the name.

Wilds Lance maximum might without Fulgur bonus

Does anyone know if this is still practical?
Ive seen the new meta builds are either 4 gore and 1 zoh, or the newer 4 zoh and 1 mitzu,
But they are both still running maximum might,
I know they are the peak and assume uptime and can play amazing, but for a more average player is it reasonable to keep enough maximum might uptime without the extra stamina bar to slot it in? or should something else be slotted

Wilds Comfy GS build

Hi,

created a comfy GS build with high dps still.

The alpha chest and legs allow for 2 additional level 1 slots as we want counter strike.

The healing with full recovery speed, recovery up and super recovery 2 is pretty insane.

Wilds Is dragon piercer build still good ?

Hello, in the last few days I started to farm to get a dragon piercer bow build. Then I saw the update... Do you think I still should make this build and can it be good to use in some matchups or is it completely trash now ?

It was one of my favorite build to use against big monsters in world, I would be so sad if Capcom killed the build

r/MonsterHunterMeta 1d ago

Wilds So, what's the state of bow now?

Does anyone have solid numbers about the changes? Is element now clearly better for artian rolls compared to attack? How nerfed is dragon piercer? Still best option for the weird double pierce interaction with arkveld?

Wilds Early Whiteflame Torrent test results

I decided to try and determine how often the new Zoh Shia weapon skill, Whiteflame Torrent, procs on hit. If you don't know, it randomly adds a flat 50 damage hit to any attack you make. This isn't affected by buffs or affinity.

I did 3 tests of 100 swings on the training dummy from the charge blade. Twice with sword, once in axe mode.

Sword test 1: 23/100 swings activated the skill

Axe test: 27/100 swings activated the skill

Sword test 2: 24/100 swings activated the skill

From this I think it's pretty safe to say the chance to proc is around 25%, and on CB at least it doesn't seem affected by motion values.
