Soft Paywall The Trump Administration Just Violated Another Court Order | It gets worse: The order found that the administration was covertly withholding millions in FEMA funds from blue states.

He did this during Covid. When he saw that it was at first primarily hitting cities, he didn't give a single fuck and wanted people to die. It wasn't until rural areas and red states got hit harder that he started to pretend to care.

u/GenericRedditor0405 Massachusetts 6h ago
I've come to conclude over the years that a common theme of Republican policies is that Republican voters are okay with collateral damage. With the death penalty, they would rather an occasional innocent person be executed than allow a criminal to live, with abortion they're fine with risking the lives of women with life-threatening pregnancy complications if it means that they can prevent women from having elective abortions, with welfare they would rather needy people starve than allow someone to abuse the system and be a "welfare queen," etc.
It's not like Trump has been quiet about wanting to punish blue states, and it's not like his voters are upset about it either. They're happy to sacrifice other people to punish the ones they hate.

Not just that, but they actively ransacked medical supplies from hospitals and ports.
People forgot too quickly about states activating their national guards to protect their medical resources from the feds.
I said it then, been saying it since, the first Trump admin committed politically motivated genocide, not just inactively by targeted withholding of aid (which is already arguably not "inactive" or "passive"), but by actively robbing states of their own supplies.

Exactly. Then when hunter makes a plea deal that would mirror most other plea deals for the same crime of being an addict and lying writing on the background check for a gun. Republicans demand the plea deal be rescinded and he gets jail time, so they rescind it and make Biden pardon him. They get raked over the coals for that while Trump releases numerous felons for all sorts of real crimes. Nobody says shit about kushner lying in his security clearance forms to be around top secret shit and was still allowed the position of power he was within the government and not one fucking investigation after making billions off his appt. The fact kushner or ivanka were never even investigated spoke volumes. The whole thing is rigged and the media treats us as stupid as republicans do.

When history books look back on this time, they will say that Biden's failure to remove Garland was the lynchpin in the collapse of the world's wealthiest and most influential country. If the administration withholds funds they're required to distribute to the states, the states are justified in withholding funds they're required to send to the administration.
If the courts don't rein in the administration, we're going to see states intervening in the collection of federal taxes so they can withhold them as compensation.
78
u/ScottRiqui 13h ago
the states are justified in withholding funds they're required to send to the administration
What funds do the states send to the federal government, exactly?

Unfortunately, criminal contempt is going to be tricky, even if the courts have the balls.
First, it’s enforced by the Federal Marshals, who are under the control of Trump’s DoJ. Although it may be possible to deputize someone else to enforce it, it’s dicey.
Second, criminal contempt can be pardoned by the President.

Yet again... doing exactly what they accused Biden of. Every accusation is a confession with these people.

Time to shut off all FEMA funds if only Red States get it. Blue States need to protect other Blue States by offering direct aid.

u/AdHopeful3801 13h ago
The administration is attempting to exert complete control over spending to punish enemies, reward allies, and line their own pockets? Well, that's not even remotely novel.
Though the escalating level of "brazen" and "cruel" really does make it seem like they're just trying to provoke civil unrest.

Remember when they accused Biden of this?

u/sluttttt California 13h ago
They were also accusing his administration of controlling the weather. The mud they were attempting to sling was beyond parody, yet they still won.

Meanwhile Mike Johnson going into recess knowing Biden will be blamed for lack of FEMA funding to hurricane victims…

It’s time to take the president out of the White House and pursue the most expedient trial

This country needs a portmanteau of all the government scandals in the past two hundred years to describe the trump administration

While MAGA will support him in anything he does to their own detriment, old school conservatives, in theory should be deeply bothered by this.
You have big government with a vindictive vendetta failing to serve the people who've paid tax dollars for disaster funding just like any other state (and often more $ than red states which blue states often carry in federal income taxes).
Disasters though don't check to see how you voted before destroying your home and loads of conservatives live in blue states.
He's a petulant child so this surprises no one.
The fact he gets away with all of it boggles my mind.

Blue states should stop paying all the fucking bills for these red states and watch them squirm

What's covert about it? He openly withheld disaster funding from blue states the last time he was in office.

I seem to remember something about the military being obligated to remove a president from office if they violate the constitution. Hello military, This is The time to do that

u/SwarlsBarkley 14h ago
Of course they were. Imagine the most petty, vindictive bullshit possible and that's what you can count on Trump doing.

What is it going to take for this sack of shit to get impeached for a third time?
Barely even matters because JD Vance isn’t much better and gigantic piece of shit himself

I'd like to remind everyone that Trump went to North Carolina after the hurricane to kill as many Americans as possible with propaganda so that it would rebound as a negative in the election. And it worked. I had people mocking the "200 bucks" or whatever that the dems were offering as help without realizing that that was the "immediate-you-don't-die-go-buy-groceries relief fund", and not the whole restoration money.
I fixed who I could, but Trump has a long history of killing Americans to blame the Democrats.

From the article " with a weak Congress". This needs to stop. Say what it is: "with Republicans in Congress refusing to perform their Constitutional responsibilities."

Just let that sink in: no other president in history has been this villainous. There was always some semblance of cordiality or a bipartisan issue that we could find common ground on. No, this fuckwad of a president will even use those bipartisan issues to literally hurt people. It’s selfish and petty and the furthest thing from being religious or a good Christian.
Trump doesn’t even deserve the good “10 ft fucking pole”. We got a break out the dirty and cursed fucking pole for him.

It wasn't "covertly". They literally recalled FEMA funds from NYC. After the funds had be distributed.

Could someone please start putting these fucks in contempt and putting them in jail.
And make sure it's civil so they can't be pardoned.

He said he is going to do it. So it is all well and good, but who is going to hold the government accountable? Who gets rid of a rogue government who routinely ignores judicial decisions and House and Senate decisions. It is out of control. Shouldn't the military hold up their oath to the constitution?

u/unrealnarwhale 14h ago
Sounds like Trump is giving blue states more reasons to disentangle from the union. California is already pursuing its own trade policy.

I feel like I remember him saying he would do this... Anyway! Nobody is shocked.

Remember when people had to sneak shipments of PPE into blue states during Covid for fear of confiscation by the Trump administration? Trump remembers.

In case it wasn't obvious: Laws are not going to keep this administration in check. They will just ignore them.
